Slow service for a diner. Their Menu is too big. The places is well decorated and clean, but I feel like we're eating on prison plates (metal plates-Gordon Ramsay). Kindah weird. Is this a thing? Two sandwiches, two sides and a soda for about $40. The sweet potato fries are $$$ for the amount or quality. Mostly 1in bits. Not worth the dine in but maybe for office catering/meeting food. read more

I had wanted to try this place since I'm crazy about Kenny & Ziggy's. We were disappointed. My matzoball soup was cold and the broth was extremely salty. My husband got a cabbage roll and said it was just ok. The waitress was wonderful so it wasn't a total bust. We probably won't go back which is a bummer. read more

In The Woodlands for a funeral. Ordered curbside, so I wouldn't have to mess with going Inside. They didn't even bother coming to the car... My "turkey, ham, swiss had NO turkey, and NO swiss! Bagel was BLACK from being burnt to a crisp... My french toast was ordered with powdered sugar, and syrup on the side. I received a soaking wet piece of burnt bread, with wet strawberries all over it!! The manager did NOT care at all, and made excuse after excuse- including that he is short staffed and only has two employees working. OK, so maybe DON'T stay open late if you can't do your JOB! He REFUSED TO PROVIDE A REFUND, and made my husband leave our hotel AGAIN, to go there and try to be refunded. This place is a joke, with nasty, overpriced food. DO NOT EAT HERE! read more

The worst excuse for the word "Deli". I really don't do these types of reviews anymore but I am doing this review as a service for y'all to seek out a good deli. I am using the word "good" for a reason. In this area, we actually have a good deli. Tony's Italian Delicatessen, is very good and with 2 locations nearby, we can all do a collective pass on the lunch meat and dishwater that they serve at Katz's. No, it's NOT the same Katz's that we've all seen in When Harry Met Sally. That's the original Katz's on Houston Street in NYC. Just let it go folks. This is dog food utilizing a famous name. If you want a true Jewish Deli (there are very few in the US...just check out Deli Man on YouTube), go to Kenny and Ziggy's in the Galleria. One of the very few Jewish delis in the U.S. It is soooooo good. Their Matzo Ball Soup/Mishmosh Soup is to die for. Their Pastrami on rye is the best outside of NYC. read more

I always enjoy the food at Katz's the Ruben Is my favorite. However on this particular time (ordered to go) I think they need to change out their oil. My potato chips tasted kinda rancid. read more

Patron of the Katz deli locations for years and always look forward to it. Not this one- not again. Service was so slow even though I was one of 5 tables total at 1030 on a weekday morning. Then the French toast was lukewarm. I ordered a bagel to go and when I got home found this nastiness. Fresh baked you say? Unacceptable- read more

First time at any Katz's. I had a fantastic grilled pastrami and cheese hero. Fantastic hero. Took about half home, reheated it in the microwave to warm it up and it was once again fantastic. Our service was great, server was knowledgeable and attentive. Ambiance was what I expected at a deli, fun times. read more

Katz's is well known for their sandwiches especially the Ruben. When I eat at Katz I go for late night breakfast. Many options to choose from. read more

The service is slow and not as attentive as other restaurants in the area. The food is decent but for chicken&waffles, a waffle with strawberry and bananas, a sprite, and a side of fries our bill was $45. The plates did not come with sides of hashbrowns or eggs that is sold separately. It is expensive for breakfast compared to house of pies which has better tasting food. It's a good 24 hour option but you might as well drive the extra distance for something better and cheaper. read more

I've been to the Katz in New York City. I've been to the Carnegie deli in New York City before it closed. This is a poor substitute for such a that kind of restaurant. I ordered the Reuben sandwich it, was huge, a lot of bread, a lot of sauerkraut and a lot of dressing but it was missing one thing, pastrami. The pastrami that was on the sandwich was chopped pastrami not a piece of it any longer than a quarter of an inch. What a shame. I live in the Woodlands area and next time I'm going to drive all the way to the Galleria and eat at the new Lenny and Ziggys. That is the only decent New York style deli in Houston, not this one name Katz read more

I was so excited to try this place, the atmosphere was inviting and it has a old time-y fill to it. Needless to say, it was a disappointment. Upon Sitting down, our waitress begrudgingly greeted us and took our order. We ordered cheese curds and onion rings for apps, a side of ranch, monte kristo and the fried chicken sandwich. The cheese curds were definitely the best thing that came out. Everything else was simply, subpar. The manager looked like she didn't care to be there and her appearance showed she had just rolled out of bed. No one really seemed to care about their job or pleasing the customer. I do not think we will be returning. read more

This is the 4th time at Katz, and the only thing I can say good is the matzo ball soup was good, the Reuben was dry, the service was blah. The folks working here seem very unhappy working here, and didn't see a manager anywere. I think if want good Jewish food go to Kenny and ziggy's. This will be my last visit to Katz read more

We love Katz but quality seems to be going down. I had the pastrami Ruben sandwich and the pastrami was cold and rubbery. My wife had the meatloaf and it was terrible. The meatloaf tasted like it was from a can. I suggest they take this off the menu and just keep the dishes they are good at. read more

I would have made this a 5 star if it wasn't for your server not allowing my daughter a 14 a child size portion along with her soup order. She wanted a small pasta dish as she is a vegetarian. Just a bummer that one bad server can ruin how I feel about this place. Actually it would be a 3 star at best. Y'all ruined your matzo ball soup. You turned the corner around 6 months ago and now not so much. read more

First time at this place and our server Kai was amazing! I loved his energy and willingness to serve! He has made us his regular customers!

Great deli, staff was awesome very helpful. Service was quick. All of the food was great, portion sizes were awesome . Restaurant was very clean open layout. One of our favorite restaurants of all times read more

We arrived sometime before midnight. I think it's super lame to be refused French onion soup to go because i didn't want to come in, in the first place. I get you want to melt the cheese on top, but if i want to pay for soup without cheese, why won't you sell it to me. So we were forced to come sit and eat in the restaurant. Upon being sat right by the bar, the people watching began. It was really freaking disgusting. I watched my server, the bartender and others gather around the first table by the bar to eat a gigantic sandwich during their shift. At one point around 5 workers all standing there gathered. Was it feeding hour?? It was disgusting to watch the bartender eat, wipe all the food gunk off his hands, set the towel on the bar top, touch his nose multiple times and never wash his hands. He looks dirty to begin with and then you watch all the shit he touches after eating and touching his nose and I got nauseated. My wine glass came out with lipstick on it and we had to get the served attention to get a tea refill (took at least 10 min) but after all of that, i sent the wine back. I almost didn't even eat because I was so grossed out watching the hygiene issues with my server and bartender. The manager seems like he's the crews friend rather than managing the business. Hanging out chatting while this is all going on. I watched my server devour a huge sandwich and like go straight from his plate to picking up menus and greeting new tables, FOOD STILL IN HIS MOUTH. Then there's this bus boy walking around with a mask under his nose. Just take that off!! Like why even wear it. You're just going to touch it and touch things in the restaurant so just don't wear it!! All in all super grossed out. I won't ever return. I missed our Katz from Austin and this was not an experience to remember it by!! read more

I've always wanted to try this place so my bf and I came here for lunch around 12pm. I ordered the #2 corned beef, turkey and pastrami sandwich lunch special with fries my food was excellent but my bf ordered the chicken and waffles and he was highly disappointed. It was sooooo much batter on the chicken that it was only a tiny piece of actual meat, it had no seasoning on the chicken not even a teaspoon of salt it had no flavor whatsoever. What a waste of $11 it was worth $5! The reason why I'm giving this place 2 stars because of the service. Our waiter was a older and tall guy who didn't even check on us the 1 hour we were there but I noticed he checked on other tables around ours several times. I believed he was racist !!! I had to go track him down 4 times to bring us butter, more water, lemons and the ticket. I will never come back here nor will I recommend this place to anyone. read more

Enjoyed a late lunch at the Woodlands Katz. Philip was our server and he was great. Hubby had a skinny Philly Melt and I had a skinny French Dip. we shared onion rings and fries. I hadn't eaten all day, so I was starving. I'd seen the sign on the freeway for Katz's Deli for years, and I'd always wanted to try them, so I pulled in to get a takeout order. I ordered the medium sized (they call it "Klassic") Turkey Pastrami Reuben, and a cheese potato, which is basically fried mashed potatoes with cheese. The sandwich itself comes with a small pickle and a couple of forkfuls of cole slaw. I was pretty caught off guard by the price. Those two items totaled nearly $30. I was on a work trip, so it went on my ($30) per diem, but I couldn't even afford to get a drink. Bummer. When I got to my hotel room, I threw everything in the micro for a minute or so, and dug in. The cheese potato was nice. Not sure it was worth the $5 price, but it was the best part of the meal. The cole slaw was unremarkable. It did look like it was made in house, which is a positive, but it was pretty plain. The Reuben sandwich looked enormous when I opened up the box. When I picked it up to take a bite, sauerkraut dropped out everywhere and made a mess. Like I said, I was starving, so it took a couple of bites to realize that all I was tasting was the sauerkraut, and that it completely overwhelmed every other aspect of the dish. I mean, I could see that there was some meat in there, and some melted cheese, and some bread, but I literally couldn't taste any of it. I might as well have been eating sauerkraut out of a jar. And even though the sandwich seemed huge, the sauerkraut seemed to account for a good 75-80% of the filling. It almost seemed like they overloaded the sauerkraut to make the sandwich look huge, and justify the high price, while skimping on the meat. I've had good/great Reubens before, where the sauerkraut just serves as a compliment to the flavor of the other ingredients, and this one definitely ain't it. Probably the worst Reuben sandwich I've ever had, and a huge disappointment from a place I'd been looking forward to trying for a while. read more

Just trash! Just plain trash! If I could give it 0 stars I would. We patiently wait to be seated and once seated we are immediately greeted with the fact that they are out of bread. How the hell do you never close and half the menu is sandwiches and you are out of bread. Then we patiently waited for our food and jr got worse. Waffle sandwich comes out cold. It's disgusting taking a bite of cold egg, bacon and cheese. Then my cup of broccoli cheddar soup was forgotten waiter comes back and said it came out fresh. I take a spoonfuls of barely warm soup. At this point we are pissed we patiently waited never bothered our server to get crappy food. There is just no excuse. Our server gives us a lame excuse of the kitchen being backed up and they were busy earlier bit there is no excuse for cold food especially when our daughters chicken and waffles came out hot. At this point I'm beyond pissed because fine about running out of food but justifying crappy food because it's busy is not a valid excuse. To make matters worse a manager never came by to apologize to ask if we needed anything else nothing to smooth things over. It's just plain awful and disgusting go elsewhere!!! read more

OK - But certainly inferior to Kenny and Ziggys! Pastrami was OK but not good! Good beer selection!

If you are in the Woodlands, outside of Houston, and it's late at night say 11 PM or later... This place has decent breakfast. Always consistent and always good. The buffalo bill was good but I would have liked it spicier. The pastrami hero was excellent. The French dip was warm and juicy. The pickles were excellent. We ambience is true NYC. It was like visiting again. They kept our tea glasses from getting completely empty, which can be tough with the way we drink. My husband got the Grilled Chicken, Bacon and Ranch Hero. He enjoyed it very much. The ranch had a great tang and the French bread was delicious. Since he had been wanting to try sweet potato fries he added a side. They were shoestring style and well cooked. He insisted that they require ketchup. I got the Pastrami hash with eggs over well and a bagel with cream cheese. It would have been near perfection if my eggs hadn't been cooked incorrectly. We will definitely be back and we got some stuff to go. read more

This was close to our hotel and we'd heard good things so we popped in for dessert and were considering returning for breakfast next day before we flew home. WON'T be back. There were 4 of us and I ordered a brownie boat. The waitress brings out everyone else's order says she'll be back with mine... about 5 min later (when the two guys are almost done with theirs) she comes back to say they are out of brownies. I'm sorry - there are WAY better opportunities to tell a table that you're out of something that someone ordered than when half the table is almost done with their order. Completely unorganized. Obviously I can't return to give the place a second chance since I don't live here, but this was literally the only place I went to on my trip that didn't know their own inventory. read more

From a deli loving jew, this is pretty darn close to a NY deli in TX. No, I haven't been to all of the delis in TX, in fact this is the only one, although I've been to many in CA and NY. Let's be clear, I am fairly sure this place has no relationship to the Katz's in Brooklyn. So if you're expecting to "have what she's having" this isn't that place. Don't let that dissuade you. Pros.. fresh baked rye! Meat was moist and flavorful (pastrami). My order was right, on time (pickup) and they even wanted to show me the order before they put it in the bag. Cons.. coleslaw wasn't to my liking, just too much on the side of "raw" cabbage with some vinegar thrown on it. Meat had a bit too much "gristle" to be in a sandwich. Pickle was just ok. I wouldn't hesitate to go again. read more

I wanted to like you, Katz, I really did. I tried. The free pickles (pregnancy score right?) were tasty but clearly had been left out for too long and were getting soft. The next offender was the 40$ price tag for two people. That's pushing it for two sandwiches and a root beer. After that was the dried, tasteless meat of the French dip and the au jus that tastes like it came from a bag of dried powder and not from the drippings of the meat themselves. After that i had the saddest amount of seasoning on my chips I've ever seen. I don't even think the person attempted to bother to get the seasoning on the chips, they just randomly did one shake, got 2 chips seasoned and called it a day. But the final offense? The worst of it all? The 5$ piece of red velvet cheesecake that tasted more like red food dye than velvet. I couldn't get the taste of dye out of my mouth all afternoon. read more
