My friend and I were craving sandwiches and couldn't think of a place we wanted to try more. Katz's always impresses me with how elegant and cool the look and vibe are. We were seated immediately and our server was attentive and friendly. We had the amazing meatballs as an appetizer, and the sauce was phenomenal-tangy and sweet. I ordered the Carnegie Burger and it was amazing! The gochujang sauce complemented the perfectly cooked meat. A truly fantastic burger. The chocolate milkshake was also rich and tasty. I also ordered the chocolate cake and have to say it's famous for a reason, the layers were rich and decadent and a great way to end a meal!

Pitiful pastrami on rye

I had previously been to Katz's in New York (which was awesome) and was excited to try the Houston location. What a joke! I ordered the pastrami on rye "New York" style and it had hardly any meat on it. Absolutely pitiful.

Food was flavorful and the fries were hot just what I wanted. The service, while there was a bit of a wait, was quite pleasant with no mistakes. Not exactly a NYC deli vibe but I was good with that so the ambiance worked for me.

I've been here a couple times and it usually takes a while to bring out the food, probably around 25-30 minutes. Their food is OK and I have only tried their breakfast items. Waffles were nice and fluffy. The brisket tasted good on its own, but the hollandaise sauce didn't pair well with it. Servers are all very nice and attentive. They will refill coffee without being asked. It is a lively place and has a diner-style feel to it. The dessert is AMAZING. I was hesitant since the bread pudding had raisins but I would absolutely come here again just for that. The chocolate cake was good too, but the bread pudding really stood out. Easy to park, they have a parking lot attached.

Let's start with Jason, bar staff. Excellent attention. Courteous. Friendly. The Tomato Basil soup is good. My first time to have it. Has a little spice, but only enough to warm the throat. The soup was a bit thick and could have used a fresh grated parm on top. I would order again. The burger. Cooked perfectly. Had mushrooms on it that were not ordered, but easy to remove. A side of onion rings were perfect, as usual. $61 was painful. Still a great place to go late night.

We always try to stop by Katz when we are in Houston for the French dip and matzo ball soup. My husband should be a spokesperson for this sandwich. Service is always friendly here. Our food was served hot and didn't wait too long. I tried the pastrami Reuben. Flavor is there I just wish the meat was thicker instead of sliced deli meat. It's still a tasty sandwich.

Well.... The vibe was definitely giving NYC. No greeting from the hostess just straight in with "for two?" with zero personality. Other staff greeted us kindly as we walked toward our table. Our waiter was nice and attentive but the food felt rushed and the jalapeño poppers came out cold. Sandwich and artichoke dip were pretty good. I got Matzo ball soup to-go which tasted great. For Houston I think they could've represented themselves a bit better. Would I go back? Yes, but the staff should and could use more spark and to make sure food comes out hot.

I was excited to try Katz after a referral to eat here . The food itself is very disappointing. I had chicken Parmesan sandwich . Soggy before I could eat it .. dripping of water sauce from marinara . I asked to send back . I got the country club . It's a sandwich so not much I can mess up . It was hard to though . Didn't know it came on a bagel and the bagel was a bit toasted so hard to bite . The homemade spinach dip is a LIE . Nothing homemade about it . It was super watery . The Alfredo pasta is wayyy over priced for taste . No seasoning. Very dry ... Kids pizza was undercooked . Cheese wasn't even melted yet . Service was though. Waiter and manager were respectful . Ambiance is family friendly nice and clean . Over this experience is a 2 out 5 . I honestly expected way more . The bill was $41 for Alfredo and a sandwich lol . I was pissed because it wasn't even worth $10 . Not sure what's the hype was but I didn't Find it OH AND HAIR WAS IN OUR FOOD . Enjoy the nice I tried to take .

Always good food! I do feel it's better to eat in, but this time I ordered delivery. Service was fast and my food was fresh. I ordered the Cobb salad. Their Cobb salad does not come with a boiled egg, just so you know. I did pay for extra avocado, because I love them. They offer a very nice variety of salad dressing. However, I wasn't feeling adventurous today.‍ The ambiance is casual and usually pretty busy. When ordering delivery you miss the temptation of the dessert counter. But even delivery is safe sometimes. The cheesecake still calls my name. However, their food is consistent as well as their service. I've not had a bad experience. So if you're looking for a down home kinda meal, Katz's will probably work for you.

Avocado toast with salmon

I was excited about trying this place. The atmosphere and decoration are cool. We ordered the margarita flight which was yummy. Then we got the avocado toast and the Salmon Eggs Benedict. I would not get the eggs benedict again, as the sauce was sour tasting. We didn't like it. We absolutely loved the avocado toast. It was so fresh and tasty. We ended our meal with watching a drunk person out the window hit our vehicle in the Katz parking lot and the cops had us waiting hours and they never came to help us. We won't be returning because of this incident. Go somewhere else if you're out and about on a Friday night.

A serving of french fries

The food, atmosphere and service were all good but beware of hidden costs: -The waffle sandwich comes with home fries. We substituted home fries and asked for french fries instead. Instead of an upgrade price of $1-$2, the french fries were $4.99, which is the regular price. -They charge 2.85% of your bill to use your credit card. I understand that businesses have to make money but I would prefer full disclosure of any UNEXPECTED costs.

Stopped in today at Katz's for a to-go order. Upon entering it was quite busy but hostess seemed to be handling well. The place is very nice, has an upstairs portion as well as downstairs with a bar. I went straight to pick up line to order and had a minimal wait time. Ordered and food maybe too about 10-15 minutes to be ready. I'm a big stuffed jalapeno popper person and these just didn't do it for me. Not sure if they're made in house but they definitely have a Costco/Sam's pop in the air fryer quality to them. The raspberry chipotle really saves them and makes them pretty decent. My Kountry Klub was overall pretty nice experience. I got it how it comes on whole wheat. The bread has a minor sweetness to it that I really enjoyed. I don't usually eat bacon but this one was tolerable so that's nice. The sandwich was a bit dry overall, wish it had a sauce that came with it or a little more moisture from tomatoes or something. The chocolate cake is AGGRESSIVELY sweet. I'm a fan of sweets but even this one was pushing it for me. It also comes with a fudge sauce and that totally throws it even more overboard. If that's your thing so be it, this is for you! Overall, I'm neither mad or extremely excited for Katz's. The price point is fairly steep. I got out with all this at a little over $50. A price point that I can go get bigger quality more flavorful dishes somewhere else. They are open 24/7 so I could see how this would be a great after leaving a club spot. All in all, it was a decent experience. I may have to try more of the menu and give another review

We were ultimately shown to a table directly in front of the kitchen. As we sat there, I gradually began to notice some troubling things. Another Asian group was seated at a table next to one of the kitchen entrances. Later, when they finished their meal and left, another Asian family was seated at the same table. In addition, a Black family was seated next to another kitchen exit. A woman in that group asked to be moved to a different table. The food itself was very good, and the server who took care of us was pleasant and kind. My concern was specifically with the way the host assigned tables. Seeing this seating pattern repeated even though other tables were available made me strongly feel that race was influencing the seating decisions. I found the experience very upsetting. Of course, it is up to the restaurant to decide how it will assign tables in the future. I would be glad if this experience prompted the restaurant to recognize the issue and make changes. On the other hand, if nothing changes, I will consider this to be part of the restaurant's character. I am leaving this review to share what I personally saw and experienced.

We pulled up and didn't see a lot of diners, but that's not always a sign that things are bad. We entered and I love the local vibes and decor. We were quickly greeted and the guy at the register answered our questions. We both ordered the Reuben and I went to look at the cookies. I noticed my husband's demeanor change when I ordered an oatmeal raisin cookie. He told me that he had to let the cashier know not to spit in a napkin and then use the same hands, uncleaned or sanitized to grab my cookie. He said the guy responded that he wasn't touching it with his hands, he was using the parchment to grab and wrap it. As a medical professional, I was both nauseated and appalled that he didn't grasp how infection is spread. Yes, your dirty hands are not touching the cookie, but your cooties are still on the outside of it. Thus when I go to unwrap it, now they're on my hands and ingested when I pick the cookie up to eat it. Clearly COVID has taught us much less than I thought... Reuben was okay, but I think the experience was ruined for me because I questioned how sanitary things were as I tried them. I also left the cookie with the rest of the trash in the same parchment it was wrapped in. Goes without saying, but we won't be back...we live in Pearland anyway. So it's not worth the drive for us.....Enter with caution & sanitizer apparently.

You can't get lost in here with the signage, but you can't definitely get lost in the aisles with all the great, unique choices. The ready food display has so many Mediterranean treats, some I've had before some I've never heard of and everything I tried was amazing. We got the cabbage rolls and Armenian veggie dolmas. Great flavor, both specific items I haven't had before. Nice citrus, spiced flavor to these. I'd say they're have to try items. Not only found jarred tomato paste, which I've been on the hunt for but they had choices in this category and that's another first for me. Will have to go back and try the others. Also got the cured Serrano ham -amazing. And I thought the prices were going to be insane having a spot right in the middle of the city and nope- pleasantly surprised for my goodies, great prices even less than some of the other stores I frequent in the suburbs. I'll be back again and again and again until I try the whole store lol. Definitely give them a try, you won't regret it

They offered an assortment of goods and items that are great for gifts and for your own home. I can always find something of interest in the store. I also love that they tend to carry items that are a little more boutique and local which makes it fun to browse. A lot of people visit for the barbecue. If I recall, when they first were serving BBQ it was a smaller, more limited time and they've since extended those hours. When visiting there is plenty of street parking in the area. They have expanded the seating inside since when they first opened which is nice for those not looking to takeaway food. Food & Drink - 4.25* The counter for ordering is in the back. I definitely recommend getting an assortment or a plate. Sausage and brisket are both solid. The sides are good too. I did notice the quality maybe dipped a little as the hours expanded, but it's still a very good option to some of the nearby establishments down the road or over in the North Main area that tend to have giant queues. When I was working downtown we'd swing over here quickly for a lunch. Feel free to grab anything to drink from the coolers as well if it catches your interest. Service - 5* Solid. We've spoken directly with the owners when visiting and it's evident they care deeply about their store, their customers, and the community. Definitely support your local businesses!! Cost - 4.5* Always subjective. I think for what they offer, how clean and well organized the shop is, it shows. They keep prices approachable.
