The woman who answered the phone was shockingly rude, dismissive, and downright judgmental. The moment I mentioned the prescription I needed filled, she cut me off and told me, with zero professionalism, that they're not accepting new patients for that medication because it's "too hard to get." Excuse me? That's not how you speak to anyone, let alone a potential customer. If your staff can't be bothered to treat people with basic respect and decency, you don't deserve anyone's business. I was ready and willing to give mine to a local spot -- but Katz made it crystal clear they're not worth the time or trust. Save yourself the frustration and take your business elsewhere. Walking in here is like going back in time, maybe all the way to the sixties! CVS is down the street within sight and the two are polar opposites. The difference for me is the selection. Katz is small and their selection is very narrow. That's a deal breaker for me. CVS is one of the very few places where I regularly find their sale prices are excellent. Between the lower prices and the large selection I'll put up with the crazy parking. Katz is famous for their free delivery but I don't take advantage of it. Katz Pharmacy (a quintessential "Mom & Pop" shop which probably hasn't been remodeled since the 70's) is a great alternative if you live in Havertown and have prescription drugs that you refill on a regular basis. The staff is very friendly and there is NEVER a line! Also BONUS: FREE DELIVERY! This is not the place to stock up on your health and beauty aids -- the product selection is narrow (though they do offer discounted greeting cards). You will also need to either park in the Oakmont Parking lot or directly on Eagle Road -- not ideal but if you take advantage of their free delivery, you won't be needing to go very often. It's an old place and you can tell when you go in. There isn't a large selection of stuff and what they have caters to the elderly but if you need something simple like cough medicine or tums or whatever then go here if only to support local. They also have some stuff one may need after some kind of surgery or as you get older, like canes and walkers etc. Also, if you or anyone you know needs medicine delivered, they have a free delivery service which I think is a great idea especially for the elderly. read more

Katz is an excellent pharmacy that truly delivers when it comes to customer service. The pharmacists are efficient and well-versed in the pharmaceutical realm, able to answer all of my questions about insurance, my prescriptions, and any inquiries about OTC meds. On occasions when I've needed help in a pinch, they have been expedient and cooperative. They are kind and concerned about their customers - when picking up scripts or stopping in for band aids, I've overheard thoughtful, patient explanations to older customers who've needed extra help understanding their meds. I don't have any regular prescriptions, so when I do have something to pick up, I'm always taken aback by how much they make me feel like a "regular." After receiving an entirely wrong prescription at CVS, I will only be patronizing this "mom 'n' pop" pharmacy as long as I'm around. I don't live close enough to be considered a local, but I don't mind going out of the way to support this business and to receive the kind of care that you truly cannot get at a chain pharmacy. read more

In my opinion there is no better place for your prescriptions/ and their refills. No lines and the staff is so friendly and helpful. Yes, no remodelling for I don't know how long and the selections of OTC's is not the best, but sufficient in a pinch. ....I wouldn't think of going anywhere else to fill our family's scrips. read more

Yeah, it's old fashioned, but that's why it's great. We've been going there for 20+ years, they know the entire family by name and will ask for updates on the kids. Usually a positive person who doesn't write a review but after my experience I had to. The pharmacists here are probably the worst 2 I have ever dealt with. The man is the manager and the woman thinks she is. I know them both because I had to come in several times throughout the work week just to show them my script and then have them order it. I was assured I would be able to get it on a particular day, but then on that day they denied me (even though they ran my health insurance beforehand and everything was fine) because the pharmacy would not "profit" off the brand they ordered. The next day I went back to speak to the manager and he told me that he wasn't allowed to because the other pharmacist instructed him not to - even though 1) he is supposed to be the manager in charge making the decisions and 2) originally he is the one who approved me earlier in the week in the first place. They first lied to me and told me my insurance wouldn't pick it up so I called my insurance and they said it was covered. The pharmacist now caught in a lie then tells me that this particular brand, which my doctor specified on the script, costs more than the generic (duh) and their pharmacy won't make as much money as normally they would. When my insurance found this out they looked into the contract Katz has with them regarding products like this and Katz was found to be "non-compliant" based on what they agreed to. Again, this is all done by the woman who isn't even a manager - just high on a power trip. It's not like it's a rare medication that can only be purchased overseas - all it was a brand specific version instead of the generic. I wasted hours and made 4 trips throughout the week to get this. Never got it - had to go to Walgreens and settle for the generic for another month because Walgreens also had to order and it would take more than the time needed before I ran out. I chose Katz because I am local and heard good things - instead I still have to go to Walgreens near my work who have the ability to order brand specific medication (just like Katz does but they won't). read more
