My wife reported some discomfort she was having with an upper left tooth with each of her 6 month cleanings beginning in December 2024. The same tooth had a large filling from perhaps 20 years ago. My wife informed me the tooth later cracked on the backside and she reported this to Welch Dental along with continued discomfort and sensitivity in June 2025. My wife informed me the dentist made no treatment recommendation and told her no action was needed in her continued 6 month cleanings. The same unfortunate scenario continued through her 6 month cleanings at Welch Dental up and until she experienced severe pain in this tooth last week. She had an emergency appointment with her periodontist who sadly informed her the tooth had a severe infection and couldn't be saved. And she will need to replace the tooth with a costly implant. My wife and I had a joint phone call this week with Dr. Ho of Welch Dental, which she and I found to be deeply saddening and frustrating, at the end of which my wife respectfully told Dr. Ho he showed no empathy or professionalism along with his clearly false statements and circle-talk to defend the obvious lack of care and attention Welch Dental had paid over the years to my wife's issue. When I asked Dr. Ho why no treatment was recommended he falsely claimed Welch Dental suggested my wife had declined such treatment when offered. My wife was flabbergasted by this lack of truth. No such treatment was ever recommended or offered. Dr. Ho continued to defend Welch Dental as they had previously referred my wife to a periodontist for review of her gums. The tooth in question had no concerning surrounding gum issues when my wife's tooth discomfort began. Dr. Ho tried to make the case the tooth was lost due to the surrounding gums. It is my wife and my belief the tooth was lost due to an infection in the tooth due to lack of proper attention and advice of the dentist. After all, she has a mouthful of teeth not lost due to her gums. My wife's normally very kind and understanding attitude was shaken by Dr. Ho's poor demeanor and lack of professionalism. She would have respected Dr. Ho's position even though she didn't agree with it if he had expressed any degree of understanding towards her situation. I only wanted to post this review so others don't experience the same unfortunate result we did with the Welch Dental group. We will take our dental business elsewhere.

It's seems the receptionist is out of touch with what the offices does or provides. Furthermore without even confirming if biomemtic treatment is available or not a "consultation" fee of $799 is asked upfront to book an appointment. Odd business practices abd alarming upfront fees. No thanks.

They do seem to stand by caring for their patients completely, and it seems like my experience was simply an anomaly. -------------------- I truly wanted to have a positive experience with this practice, but unfortunately, I've had several disappointing interactions that I feel are important to share--both as a fair warning to others and in hopes that the practice may be open to resolving the concerns. 1. Lack of transparency and follow-up on payment information -- I've requested copies of the payment forms I signed eight times (once in person, multiple times by email, phone, and voicemail). Despite this, I've still not received any documentation or clear communication around fees--for orthodontic and dental work. 2. Delayed and dismissive handling of records -- After my initial visit with Dr. To, I waited nearly two weeks for answers to my follow up questions, and then decided to request my dental records so I could transition to a new provider. When I followed up today, I was asked to "be patient and wait a few weeks." This felt dismissive, especially given I am in pain and actively seeking timely care. Given the premium pricing and the promise of a holistic, patient-centered approach, I expected a higher level of service, compassion, and professionalism. Instead, I left feeling disregarded, disappointed, and disheartened. If the practice is open to making this right, I would be willing to discuss further. In the meantime, I hope this helps others make informed decisions about their care.

This was my first dental appointment since his passing and my first time going to the dentist alone. I was very emotional and nervous walking through the door. From the moment I walked in, Emmanuel at the front desk made me feel welcome and comfortable. The dental assistants, Kenia and Violeta, were incredibly kind, patient, and reassuring. Dr. Saood was compassionate, understanding, and took the time to make sure I felt at ease. When I became emotional and started to cry, everyone treated me with genuine kindness, grace, and care. I am self-pay, and I was pleasantly surprised by their affordable dental membership plan, which helps significantly with costs. I will be getting a dental implant to replace a broken tooth, two fillings, and teeth whitening, and I feel confident that I am in excellent hands. The office itself is beautiful and thoughtfully designed. They even offer a comfort menu with options like weighted blankets, noise-canceling headphones, neck pillows, and other amenities to help patients relax during treatment. Most importantly, I never felt pressured or upsold on services I didn't need, which has been my experience at some other dental offices. Instead, they focused on what was best for my dental health and made me feel respected, heard, and cared for. I highly recommend Smile Avenue to anyone, especially those who struggle with dental anxiety. They truly go above and beyond to make their patients feel comfortable and supported. Thank you, Emmanuel, Kenia, Violeta, and Dr. Saood, for making what could have been a very difficult first visit alone a positive and reassuring experience. I am truly grateful.

"Range"of cost for root canal suggested by Dr prior to surgery was around $1200. Find it hard to believe that since the base cost of the root canal was $1644, the Dr didn't know this was a low estimate . Imagine my surprise on check out after what I can only describe as a friendly but painful procedure for the final bill to be $2450. Would never have done it had I had any idea. My fault for not being more pointed in questioning. LAST ROOT CANAL EVER! Dr. Campbell and…read morehis office have questionable business practices, and when I brought it up, they were dismissive and Dr. Campbell himself was very arrogant. The Christian persona and mission work he does apparently don't extend to his practice. Last year, I had a crown that fell off and my dentist recommended that I see Dr. Campbell to make sure there wasn't a problem with the root canal that Dr. Campbell had performed prior to the crown being put on. I was in a lot of pain, but when I contacted his office, I was told he was going out of town on a mission trip and they would not let me see the other doctor in the practice because I had originally seen Dr. Campbell. So I had to wait 24 days to see him, in pain the entire time. When I finally got in, they took x-rays (and refused to request the existing x-rays from my dentist). They then performed a CT before I even saw the doctor, but when I questioned this, I was brushed off and just told that the doctor would go over everything with me. When I finally saw Dr. Campbell, he looked at the x-rays only and told me that everything looked great. I specifically asked if he could tell everything from the x-ray and was told yes. When I asked why the CT was performed, he only then looked at it and just said again that everything was great. He then walked me to the front office, handed off my chart and left. It was then that I was informed that I owed $150 for the CT because insurance never covers them. I said that is not acceptable at all for several reasons. The first is I hadn't even seen the doctor and he hadn't looked at any x-rays to see if a CT was even warranted. Secondly, I should have been told that the office would like to do a CT scan, but that insurance wouldn't cover it, and asked if I would be okay with that. The fact that it was just done and I was told after the fact that it wasn't covered and hit with a large bill is very deceptive and even unethical. At this time, I asked to speak with Dr. Campbell to let him know that I couldn't believe that I was being charged and expressed that things should have been done differently. His response was that it was needed for diagnostic purposes. I replied and said at first you didn't even pull up the CT until I asked about it and had already told me that you could see everything from the x-rays. He said that is just the way our office does things. However, their own website says of the CT scan, "Dental Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient." Since the x-ray had not even been reviewed, they could not have known that they would be insufficient (when by Dr. Campbell's own words, they were sufficient), thus the CT scan should not have been performed. A few days later, I wrote Dr. Campbell a letter, expressing my disappointment in the way the entire thing was handled and his response was "Roger that, sorry to lose you as a patient. My standards are my standards which are very high apparently compared to your value in my expertise and your dental health." There are lots of good endodontists in the Houston area - find one that doesn't perform procedures that he knows will not be covered and are of questionable necessity without even bothering to talk to you about the financial impact of his practices on you. We all know that performing the CT did not cost him anywhere close to $150, but keeping that profit was more important to him than his patient.
