Flexible on schedule as we had a mix up due to my misunderstanding and they rapidly rescheduled . Nice office, friendly doctor, cool staff. "Range"of cost for root canal suggested by Dr prior to surgery was around $1200. Find it hard to believe that since the base cost of the root canal was $1644, the Dr didn't know this was a low estimate . Imagine my surprise on check out after what I can only describe as a friendly but painful procedure for the final bill to be $2450. Would never have done it had I had any idea. My fault for not being more pointed in questioning. LAST ROOT CANAL EVER! Add to the RC a new crown at $1200 plus and the economics suggest pull the tooth or get an implant which has lower risk of future problems. read more

Stay away unless out of pocket cost and insurance coverage don't matter to you. Dr. Campbell and his office have questionable business practices, and when I brought it up, they were dismissive and Dr. Campbell himself was very arrogant. The Christian persona and mission work he does apparently don't extend to his practice. Last year, I had a crown that fell off and my dentist recommended that I see Dr. Campbell to make sure there wasn't a problem with the root canal that Dr. Campbell had performed prior to the crown being put on. I was in a lot of pain, but when I contacted his office, I was told he was going out of town on a mission trip and they would not let me see the other doctor in the practice because I had originally seen Dr. Campbell. So I had to wait 24 days to see him, in pain the entire time. When I finally got in, they took x-rays (and refused to request the existing x-rays from my dentist). They then performed a CT before I even saw the doctor, but when I questioned this, I was brushed off and just told that the doctor would go over everything with me. When I finally saw Dr. Campbell, he looked at the x-rays only and told me that everything looked great. I specifically asked if he could tell everything from the x-ray and was told yes. When I asked why the CT was performed, he only then looked at it and just said again that everything was great. He then walked me to the front office, handed off my chart and left. It was then that I was informed that I owed $150 for the CT because insurance never covers them. I said that is not acceptable at all for several reasons. The first is I hadn't even seen the doctor and he hadn't looked at any x-rays to see if a CT was even warranted. Secondly, I should have been told that the office would like to do a CT scan, but that insurance wouldn't cover it, and asked if I would be okay with that. The fact that it was just done and I was told after the fact that it wasn't covered and hit with a large bill is very deceptive and even unethical. At this time, I asked to speak with Dr. Campbell to let him know that I couldn't believe that I was being charged and expressed that things should have been done differently. His response was that it was needed for diagnostic purposes. I replied and said at first you didn't even pull up the CT until I asked about it and had already told me that you could see everything from the x-rays. He said that is just the way our office does things. However, their own website says of the CT scan, "Dental Cone-Beam Computed Tomography (CT) is a special type of x-ray equipment used when regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient." Since the x-ray had not even been reviewed, they could not have known that they would be insufficient (when by Dr. Campbell's own words, they were sufficient), thus the CT scan should not have been performed. A few days later, I wrote Dr. Campbell a letter, expressing my disappointment in the way the entire thing was handled and his response was "Roger that, sorry to lose you as a patient. My standards are my standards which are very high apparently compared to your value in my expertise and your dental health." There are lots of good endodontists in the Houston area - find one that doesn't perform procedures that he knows will not be covered and are of questionable necessity without even bothering to talk to you about the financial impact of his practices on you. We all know that performing the CT did not cost him anywhere close to $150, but keeping that profit was more important to him than his patient. read more

An answer to prayer!!! I drove 55 miles to this office and would do it again without hesitating. We spent nearly 9 months trying to get a root canal for my 21 year old son. One Endodontist wouldn't do it because the tooth and root were too small/narrow. Another Endo. said he didn't have a microscope which would be required. A third Endo. attempted the root canal, with microscope, but was unsuccessful. Enter Katy Endodontic and Dr. Campbell. From the minute we met him we felt peace and confidence that Dr. Campbell would get the job done. He was professional, friendly, and relaxed (not rushed). He took time to explain how and why the other Endo was unsuccessful, and explained his plan to perform a successful root canal and correct the previous failed attempt. The procedure went smoothly. Immediately afterwards, Dr. Campbell shared the scanned imagery with us so we could see the results with our own eyes. He did an excellent job and we are very happy. Dr. Campbell's professionalism and friendly attitude clearly set the tone for the rest of the office. His assistant Jaimie was just as nice and professional as Dr. Campbell. Most people won't jump for joy at the thought of having a root canal but if you think you might need one, i recommend Dr Campbell. I had a molar that started giving me some pain and my regular dentist felt i had a cracked tooth and i needed an Endodontic evaluation. Procrastinating of course for months, it didn't get any better so i scheduled an appointment. The staff was very friendly and especially Dr Campbell, he was very positive giving me recommendations based on a series of X-rays to see the roots and effect on the bone of my jaw... Yada, yada, yada... root canal! It was actually fairly painless and Dr Campbell kept asking me if i was ok and recommended points that would be sensitive and he was spot on. I was easily able to go to work the next day. I returned a week later to finish and didn't even need Novocain when he finished and sealed. I got a full pictorial (X-ray) review with details on the procedure which was very reassuring. I left satisfied the job was well done. I was referred to Dr. Garza at Katy Endodontic Associates by my regular dentist for a root canal. He advised that Dr. Garza could do it without removing the crown and in a more efficient way. Boy, was he right. It turns out that I was their first patient after reopening post-Covid crisis. The office was spotlessly clean and all safety protocols were in effect to prevent the spread of the virus. Dr. Garza was knowledgeable, calming and had a great bedside manner. His staff were friendly and professional. The procedure went very well, with minimal pain. Dr. Garza talked through each step before he did it, let me know what I would feel and warned me if there was going to be some discomfort. This was my first advanced dental procedure, and I hope I never need another. Having said that, I will definitely use Katy Endodontic Associates and Dr. Garza if that day ever comes. After hearing my wife rave about Dr. Garza (she does not love the dental chair), I decided to visit him for my root canal. I don't think I've seen an endodontist or dentist with as good of a manner with patients as Dr. Garza. He explained everything, kept me comfortable, was quick & efficient but not rushed, and gave me a "drill-by-drill" report so I didn't experience any nasty surprises. My root canal happened to be under a pre-existing crown. Dr. Garza could have removed the crown, done the root canal, and then put on a new crown which would have been very expensive. Instead, he was able to operate within the existing crown and leave it intact. Although I hope it's unnecessary, I would definitely go back to Dr. Garza for any future endodontic needs. read more

If there was ever a place to get a root canal this has to be it!!! Dr Campbell is personable and upbeat. You can tell that he really enjoys what he does and it shows in his work. Having heard the horror stories of a root canal I wasn't looking forward to the procedure but Dr Campbell made me feel at peace and well cared for. Even when I didn't schedule for enough time to do everything, he was still able to get it all done in one visit which was huge for me. Called on Wednesday and got an appointment for Thursday.... Walked in a few minutes early to fill out paperwork and heard KSBJ playing. I knew I was in the right place!!!! Called back within 15 minutes of my appointment time. Isabel was very nice and efficient. Dr Garza explained what needed to be done in great understandable detail. Never had a root canal so I was a lot nervous about pain. Dr. Garza gave me several injections that were painless. He was very gentle and made sure I was comfortable through the entire procedure. Be warned when they say they accept your dental insurance they will not mention they are not within your dental network and you will pay 50 percent of a dental bill twice the cost of a dentist in your network. Will never do business here again. Be sure to ask about what your insurance will cover before they do the work they will not tell you until the work is complete leaving you no options. read more

I was scared to death at the thought of having a root canal. It took all I had to willingly go in to have it done. Ricardo is as concerned about your feelings as you are. He did not judge my anxiety and worked with me to come up with a plan that made me comfortable and relaxed. If you're like me, just laying back and opening your mouth to let them work is terrifying. Ricardo took his time to help me relax and would not do anything unless he asked me if it was okay and explained what he was going to do first. He let me be in control with the option to tell him to wait or to stop. He put gel on my gum that numbed it. I NEVER felt anything after that. Did not feel the needle at all. I just closed my eyes and rested. He took his time and made sure he did precise work to do what I needed and to save my tooth. What a blessing to have doctors of his caliber and integrity! If you're worried about having a root canal, this is your guy. read more
