Came to Highlands Dental because my previous dentist retired and the new dentist charged a ridiculous amount (33% higher than the previous dentist) for a crown. Highlands Dental charged a fair amount to have a crown put on a molar. The dentist explained what she was doing and why and did a wonderful job. They even gave me a kit to reglue the temporary crown in case it came off over the holidays. I highly recommend this dentist. read more

I had a filling done late last year and in January 2024 my tooth started bothering me, with awful pain every day. It is super electric and sensitive and I cannot chew/bite on it. I was told I probably need a root canal and need to see a endodontist. I got a 2nd opinion where they said the same, even though the tooth does not show cracks or issues after two sets of x-rays. I feel they messed up my tooth just to have me come in for this, as I never had an experience like this before. Seems in the US it's all about crowning your whole mouth, without trying to save your teeth, or whatever's left of it. I really don't know what to do, I can't afford this. Are there any honest, fair and reliable dentists out there anymore? I had a rood canal done in South Africa many years ago, it is still in great order, no issues. Way cheaper than here. read more

Each member of the team (receptionist, tech, hygienist, dentist as well as the office manager) explained things as my appointment moved along. Had appointment for 1:15 pm on Monday July 1 2019. After 4 plus hours later and over $500. 00 charges to fix 1 tooth, I was extremely disappointed in this dentist office. Tried to push a dental plan called Wellfit, and also the hygienist scaring me into the deep cleaning service. This is just like my dogs Vet trying to push their overly priced plan for my dogs wellness. The female dentist that attended to me was "robotic, cold, uncaring, unfeeling, and JUST AN ICE QUEEN. Kept me waiting in that room for 4 hours while she attended other patients. At least I had a tv to watch. Some work was done on my tooth, and it was finally finished, but crap! This was my first visit and will be my last. Going back to my "old school" gentlemanly dentist I've had for years. He has manners and is sensitive to any needs that you may have. With an appointment, the standard wait time is 1 to 2 hours, this is if you're lucky enough to not get cancelled by the computer. The excuse they use most of the time is that the someone had to have cancelled because it shows in the computer. I asked who did? Because if it was me I wouldn't be here with my son missing work and school right? They have no answer. The confirmation card, email, etc.. is basically useless. This happened twice already and that's why I'm making this review. I paid in full for my son's orthodontic work so I have no choice but to finish the sessions. DO NOT GO HERE. Worst service EVER! GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Arrived at my appointment 35 minutes early. Staff waited a full 30 minutes before they told me I should have a chaperone present. All emails and written documentation stated that I needed a designated driver. This directive was followed. My driver dropped me off and had to go to a business meeting. We coordinated to have my driver available to pick me up in 1 hour. FIVE minutes before my appointment time, I'm informed that I won't be seen without a chaperone present. I am 47 years old and have had this procedure multiple times. I called someone to drive over to sit with me but by the time they arrived, they refused to see me. They even LIED and said they were present during a phone conversation that supposedly took place informing me of the chaperone requirement. No such phone call occurred. All communication was conducted via email and voicemail. Instructions stated only a designated driver was required. I complied with this....meaning I had no way to leave until my driver returned. When I expressed my displeasure with the way I was treated, they called the police. With nothing to hide and no prior issues, I happily explained the issues leading to the conflict. Police saw no reason to escalate due to the obvious exaggeration of the receptionist. Bottom line, the staff REFUSED to acknowledge their ownership in this communication breakdown. When the staff was asked why they would treat a patient like this, they replied, "she is NOT our patient." Wow, just wow. read more

I would highly recommend Dr. Santibanez (previously Dr. Yen) for dental care. She has great bed-side manner, and I always feel cared for when I'm speaking with her. She's also very knowledgeable, honest, and open about her services. She won't recommend a treatment for you if she doesn't think it's in your best interest. I also appreciate how she presents me various options (with detailed information about each option), and she lets me make my own decision. I don't feel pressured by her in any way. I experienced pain in my jaw recently (where it continually popped), and after her examination, she accurately diagnosed that I had been grinding my teeth due to stress. She gave me a useful cost-benefit analysis of a soft mouthguard vs. hard mouthguard vs. buying one from Walgreens vs. buying a specially-made mouthguard made from an impression. At my request, she immediately made a special hard mouthguard for me and had it shipped to my house within a week. Since then, I haven't had any muscle pain in my jaw. Dr. Santibanez is professional, smart, and caring. I would highly recommend that you come see her. read more

So I went in for the adjustment and I am very happy to report that Dr. Yen is truly as good as what other reviewers say she is. Dr. Yen did the adjustment all by herself, and I felt much better immediately. I had a feast right after she was finished with my tooth! :-D So she read my first review, apologized gracefully, and completely turned my experience around. I must admit I had my doubts with their Cerec-Blue crown. (I mean... single visit but please come back for an adjustment because you can't feel your jaw the first time around?) But watching Dr. Yen skilfully adjusted my crown to perfection without so much asking on how my bites feel, as if my jaw was still numb, I now believe that my experience is just a one time issue, and can easily be prevented in the future. I felt like I was buying a used car. High pressure sales, deep cleaning pushed over and over and when I refused they wanted me to sign some made up waiver. If that wasn't bad enough they lied. I called ahead to inquire the price for a general cleaning, I was told 75$ and when I got there the price was 120$ for non members so they tried to push some $100 bogus member fee to get the quoted price. I finally settled on Highland Dental Group and I am glad I did. 2 years and 4 visits later I am still happy. Office staff is always super friendly. Never have to wait long, most visits resolved in less an hour, wait time included. They are quick, efficient, and beyond friendly. I never feel like they are trying to get me to buy services I don't need, which many people I know complain about when going to the dentist. I have even referred friends to this place. This very misleading reviews led me to make an appointment for cleaning for my whole family. Only to be terribly disappointed. First by the all different types of X-rays they had to take. The X-rays took longer than the cleaning. But before they cleaned they advised me that if I wanted a deep cleaning I had to pay extra. I said no thank you to all the other services they pitched while I was in the chair all set up to get my teeth cleaned. So they left and 10 minutes later somebody showed up and in less than 10 minutes they were done. All I think was THIS WAS BAD For years I had been going to Dr Welch, so I know what good basic cleaning is, without a sales pitch. Unfortunately they don't take my insurance anymore. Extremly kind and courteous staff. I love how the Dentist dedicates some 1-on-1 time with you prior to your appointment to discuss any questions and concerns. I had limited time due to a business meeting and the staff was did an excellent job executing my x-rays, cleaning and dental work in a timely manner without sacrificing quality. My favorite part is that they print out a detailed invoice PRIOR to doing any dental work, listing your out of pocket. As far as customer service they are good. However, I have never had fillings come off 3 consecutive times until I had it filled here. I would go back since they cover their dental work but enough is enough. I have chosen to go get my work done with another dental office that is able to keep fillings in more permanently. I was in the office in person, because I was a new patient decided to leave my insurance information beforehand and I made an appointment at the same time. When I came for my appointment they announced they couldn't confirm my insurance, I gave them all my insurance information again, they said they will call back to the insurance company to confirm, then they will call me back to make another appointment. I waited a week and called back. First I had to listen to the annoying recording for a while, then a man picked up. I explained the situation, he said he will connect me with Veronica the benefit coordinator, after waiting for a while Veronica picked up, and she decided to transfer me to the front desk. While the staff was friendly, work efficiency isn't very high. Regular cleaning session takes 1.5 hour to complete when only one plaque was found on my teeth. When the insurance company sent the claim statement, I dropped my jaw. It costs 768 for the xray and regular cleaning..thank god i didnt have to pay. I compare the claim form from previous year at another dentist's location, the charge was only 124. If I were to have any work done, I wouldn't come here, who knows what they will charge me out of pocket. read more

Highland Dental is awesome. I made an appointment because I chipped off an old filling and needed my tooth looked at. I walked in and was greeted with warm smiles from behind the desk. I checked in and filled out my medical information on an iPad which went very quickly. I sat in the waiting area for a few minutes before Dr. Vera led me back and asked me some additional information. After a quick consult, they immediately got to work on the issues at hand...I needed a lot more work than just the chipped filling. It all happened so fast. The staff was great and very friendly. I'm always hesitant to go to the dentist because it gets to be quite expensive, even with insurance. Needless to say, they were more than willing to work out payment arrangements. I still have a little more work to be done but I'll say that I'll get it all done at Highland Dental. Dr. Vera and staff are wonderful and I couldn't have asked for a better visit.
