This place is very frustrating to deal with. My husband made an appointment and when he showed us they did not have him in their system and had to wait again for an appointment. At the appointment they did some biopsies. He received a message to call the office for the results, but after 8 calls over three days he cannot get anyone on the phone or returning his messages. On the 9th call he pressed enough buttons to get a person on the phone, but all she would do is take his name and phone number. This place is a hot mess. read more

Was put on hold for a 5-10 minutes before I could even get a word out. Then when he came back, I asked if they could check if my insurance was accepted. He only responded with "yea". As I was giving him my insurance information, he cut me off and told me to speak faster and louder because he doesn't have time to wait for me as he's very busy. Then hung up the phone before I could even respond. Dr. Alam referred me here because he said they were super good. Will never make an appointment here with this kind of staff. I recommend y'all to look elsewhere as the staff at this office apparently does not care enough to even have an ounce of respect. read more

Both Dr Uptmore and Dr Carter have taken good care of me for years and I appreciate both of them. I find Dr Carter very personable in conversation and yet thorough in examination and treatment. Dr Uptmore is a bit more busy but is a great dermatologist too. I am susceptible to skin cancer due to my ancestry and I really have to be careful so I need a dermatologist I can trust. What has happened to Katy Dermatology?? I called to book 2 appointments (one for me and one for my daughter). We had to book our appointment 8-10 weeks out because they are so busy. About 5-6 weeks prior to our appointment, the office called and said Dr. Zahiruddin was going to vacation and could not see us that day. We were told she could see us Thanksgiving week or in January. Well, Thanksgiving does not work for us. I have a mole that needs checking urgently. I explained this when I booked the original appointment and no one seemed to care, and it is obvious that they still do not care. Now, my choice was to wait approximately 5-6 months to be seen by her which I think that is absurd! Or find a new doctor. When a doctor cancels an appointment, they need to either work late or Saturday's to accommodate the changes they make, not force patients to be seen the following year or find a new physician!! My mole is getting more itchy and I am feeling the need to get is checked sooner then later. So, on Tuesday, I found another dermatologist here in Katy that could see us on Friday. Also on Tuesday, I called Katy Dermatology and told them I needEd to cancel our appointments and pick up our medical records. They told me they needed to prepare paperwork and they would call me. So, Wednesday at 3:15, I called and told them I had not heard from anyone about signing paperwork. I spent a good 10-15 minutes arguing on the phone arguing over the fact that they changed my appointment and now they want to charge me money for my medical records. I'm so upset!!! Anyway, I angrily drive over to their office and sign forms today, Wednesday. It didn't appear that they had to prepare anything! Standard medical transfer form attached to a clipboard! 4 people standing/sitting in an office doing nothing. One girl answered a phone and said no appointments until January...today is October 27. They said the doctors were gone for the day. Further, they are telling me I have to pay for the records if I want them or if they send it to the doctor it is free. And they can't send the records until next week!! I was originally told over the phone that the medical record had to come from the office where we were last seen. Then while signing the records request, I was told the request would actually go to the Provincial office. Oh my goodness!! So much unnecessary bureaucratic bull to get my medical records transferred in a few days to a local physician. What has happened to Katy Dermatology?? Their doctors are NOT accommodating and their customer service is terrible. This used to NOT be the case. I'm furious with Katy Dermatology!!! My father and mother have used Dr. Uptmore for years and he's been amazing. We can't get in to see him either...so sad. I told the office manager Marianna on the phone that I have known Dr. Uptmore personally for years (he was my dad's doctor until my dad passed away) and I wanted to talk to him. She told me to call him. I told her I didn't have his phone number and she told me if I knew him personally, I should have it. She said he gives it out to patients. So ridiculous! I've asked to speak with either Dr. Zahiruddin or Dr. Uptmore and get no help. I used to recommend Katy Dermatology, but not any more. Dr. Carter is extremely personable and takes her time to listen to you. One thing that makes me disgusted with a medical professional is feeling rushed when I decide to use them for my ailments. I definitely was given ample time to discuss my concerns and Dr. Carter did not give a snap decision and shove me out the office. I was completely satisfied with the care given by Dr. Carter, and the waiting staff was just as professional as Dr. Carter. I have been going to Dr. Adam Czelusta for many, many years and cannot say enough good things about him! I was a sun baby and lifeguard and used baby oil and iodine for a good tan back before we knew how bad it was for us. Well now those of us that seriously damaged our skin are now paying for that. I was recommended to Dr. Czelusta for regular skin checks after having my first basel cell lesion removed from my shoulder by my regular Dr. Knowing I would need to be monitored regularly due to my previous skin damaging lifestyle. Fast forward to the present, and I have been going for regular skin checks for years and years, most of the time fine, but some incidents of lesions that have needed to be removed and biopsied. I cannot emphasize enough how much you need a doctor that you trust to both diagnose you accurately, as well as treat you compassionately since it is a lifelong concern and a situation that will need constant vigilance. It is a lifelong relationship and a very important one. I know that through Covid their office had some issues, but many offices had a difficult time balancing schedules, protocol and such. I have gotten to know their office manager Laura and have found her to be open and helpful with any and all concerns that I have ever had. Since it is imperative that I monitor myself for health reasons, I could find no better, more competent and compassionate partner than Dr. Adam Czelusta, and I wholeheartedly recommend him and Katy Dermatology! read more

One of the more stressful aspects of relocating is finding doctors in the new hometown. For the past several years, I've seen a dermatologist regularly as the consequences of my "fun in the sun" early days sometimes present themselves on my face as pre-cancers. In searching for a Houston-area dermatologist, I wanted a clinic at which the focus is medical dermatology as opposed to cosmetics. Well, I found it here. I saw Dr. Uptmore, who took his time in conducting a very thorough exam as we talked about the growth in the Katy area over the years and the success of the Katy High School football program. As a Tiger alumnus I'm always happy to talk about Tiger football! Anyhoo, I arrived about 40 minutes early so I'd have plenty of time to complete my new patient paperwork, as I could not get it to download from their website. After only a 15 minute wait, I was called back, the doctor saw me, and I was out of there right around the time my appointment was supposed to begin! As with many quality medical specialists, my new patient appointment was scheduled for about 5 weeks out from when I first called. No problem. I took my daughter to Katy Dermatology and was very impressed. They have taken measures in place for Covid19 that are very safe. The office staff was polite and efficient. We were early and they communicated there would be a short wait, and short wait it was. My daughter saw Dr. Carter (female dr) for cystic acne and blackheads. Dr. Carter was extremely knowledgable about what my daughter needed, as well as how to help the scarring. She was enthusiastic, kind and explained things thoroughly. She even offered to give her a year prescription since she lives out of town. I would highly recommend this office and Dr Carter. She is an excellent doctor!!! read more

I have been a patient at Katy Dermatology for many years. Love the outstanding doctors, but... I have called 2 days to make an appointment. Yesterday the system was down. Today when I called and selected 2 for appointments, I was asked to wait and put on hold for 15 minutes. Then another person answered and I was told they could not make appointments as their system was down today too...When calling for an appointment, could I not have been informed about that directly, instead of being put on hold for 15 minutes first??? Yesterday, I was told that they have no appointments available before end of September/beginning of October even for well established, long time patients. I was told I could go to a Primary Care doctor or Urgent Care instead...??? I wonder if Dr. Czelusta and his Doctor colleagues are aware about how the front reception and appointment service is "functioning" and treating their patients...??? Maybe the Clinic has accepted too many patients to be able to serve the longtime, loyal ones properly with appointments within a reasonable time frame. There are very good reasons for why patients want to stay with e.g. Dr. Czelusta. To be told to go and see a PC or random Urgent Care doctor is IMO both unacceptable, arrogant and rude. I hope the Katy Dermatology Doctors and Office Manager read this reviews and take actions for improvements with both the appointment situation and front reception attitudes. The Doctor's are fine but the staff sucks. On more than one occasion I've called their office on a refill for a medical cream and they don't call back. Customer service at its worst, and if their staff reported to me and were actually graded on their performance, I'd be cleaning house. Bottom line-find another practice. The physicians at Katy Dermatology are outstanding, however, the office staff is inconsiderate. I was placed on hold for over 20 minutes. When a young lady finally took the call I pointed out the overly long hold time. She ignored me and asked me what did I want. I said I'd like an apology for being left on hold for 20 minutes. She hung up on me. I've left 3 messages for the practice manager and one for the doctor - that I doubt will be relayed. I'm not surprised that I haven't heard back. It's obvious that only the doctors have any concern for the patients. Ultimately, I faxed a letter to my doctor letting her know about the rude and non-responsive staff and to cancel my upcoming appointment, however, I'm sure the terrible staff will intercept it. Took the day off for my visit and headed over there to get some skin-tags removed. I should have known from the mug the zombie who called my name in was wearing I was in for no good. The zombie-looking young girl who looked like her boyfriend just broke up with her and ran away with her puppy asked me what I was in for? I told her 'get rid of some tags!, her response was 'how are you going to pay?' I said I have in insurance! She said 'YOUR insurance doesn't cover it' - I said 'have you checked?' she said 'nope I know it doesn't (a psychic zombie I thought to myself) . I said, I've had the same employer and insurance for 15 years, its been covered before. She said nope - how are you going to pay? I said well, I dont have my wallet (I know, I was not prepared), can you just bill me... just I started to say that, she started to shake her head and open the door for me to exit. lol what a joke. (are you kidding me? I thought) I said, cant you just bill me for it like other... she stood there with the door open shaking her head as I were wasting her time - as if she knew what my financial situation was and I could not afford it. I was so embarrassed I had no choice but to take her cue and exit the building with my tail between my legs because this sad looking child decided I could not afford it.Needless to say, I waited 3 months for the appointment, wasted my time, was humiliated by a no-good zombie for about $150 that I would have been happy to pay 10x over! and the icing on the cake - I wasted a vacation day from work! boooo this place blows and I will no longer allow my wife and children to continue to visit these greedy Zombies who clearly only care about money. Billing department has no clue what they are doing. I was passed around from staff member to staff member with no answer to any of my questions. The only way I could get a new quote or any further information is if I came in. I didn't want to have an additional unnecessary charge for a visit without any work being done. I was given a quote for a procedure I did not want and when I inquired about a NEW QUOTE I was just repeatedly told the original quote amount in a very belittling and disrespectful tone. No one on staff was listening to my questions or were capable of answering any of them. I was told "I'll call you back love you bye" before being hung up on by the office manager. I have no clue who is running this office but someone helpful would be appreciated. Your clients are the only reason you are in business the least you can do is be courteous and patient when dealing with people coming in to improve their health. read more

Hubby and I made an appt. like 6 weeks ago to see Dr. Utmore. In fact we have seen most of them if we could not see Dr. Utmore. I have been having an issue on my nose and it is probably a skin cancer. We had to wait 6 weeks though as they said they were busy. We arrived yesterday morning for an 8:00AM appointment, I was so glad it was finally our turn to be seen. This did not happen becasue after we signed in we were told we were at the wrong place. We had no idea they had 2 places. The appointment girl never told us this nor did the call we received reminding us of our appoinment. WHY? If there is another ;ocation it only makes good sense to alert customers. This did not happen. I even called them a few days before the appointment to make sure they had us down for both of us to be seen. She assured me they did. Why didn't she bring up the other location then? My very mild mannered hubby spoke to some. girl behind the desk and she would not stop talking over him. This was sooooo rude. Other doctors were behind closed doors as we could hear them. We asked if they could see us. No, they said. Another patient walked in for her appointment and no one had told her that Dr. Utmore was at another location, either. She said I will be late for my campus job. In disgust she walked out. We asked that Dr. Utmore call us. No call. Who does the training down there? I had recently suffered a stroke. We went home. We are looking for another doctor. Five in our family go to him. They have lost all of us. Maybe this is better for us going elsewhere. read more

I called as a new patient to schedule an appointment for a rash. The front desk stated the only appointment she had for new patients was the end of July , mind you today's day was June 8!! I've been going to doctor Cooper for about 6 months for a rash on my face. First it was diagnosed as some sort of dermatitis and later she did a biopsy and now I'm allergic to something so I decided to do a patch test to find what. The whole process was a joke! The nurse taped on the strips with tape that she said propably wouldn't stay and that I could go buy some that would and tape it when I got home. The tape did start to come off as soon as I moved around. I bought good tape but can't tape my back. If the strips move it is not accurate. My husband taped it and it stayed. Went back 2 days later and same nurse removed strips and then reapplied and they moved again. Went the next day for the doctor to look at results. She was 40 minutes behind and was very rushed. Had her look at a mole that had changed and she said that she was going to freeze it off. It's still there. Found out from a google search that it can take up to 3 weeks to come off. She should have told me that. She said that I'm allergic to blue dye 106 and hydrocortisone but nothing about what I'm not allergic to. I don't put either of these things on my face. I feel like the patch test was set up to fail and was so rushed by her on this visit that I couldn't ask all the questions that I wanted to. The bottom line is that I don't trust her. I've spent clos e to $1000 and still feel like I have no answer and a red rash on my face. read more
