A Beautiful restaurant! This was quite the grand experience with delicious food. The service was impeccable. Warm and friendly feeling here with sophisticated vibes as well. It was easy to make reservations on the app and this is recommended because Katsuya attracts a lot of customers. This is one of the best places here at Baha Mar. The chef really provides excellent flavors with very pretty presentations.

Of the other 2 restaurants we ate at Baha Mar, this one was our least favorite. We showed up 5 minutes early for our reservation to a long line and twenty minute wait. Then were dropped at a table for 4 when we were a party of 5 without a chair or place setting. The waiters seemed agitated. We were agitated. The humidity of the outdoor tarp enclosed dinning area most certainly did not help. Oh, and the tables upon tables of overtired children. Helpful hint to moms traveling on a girls only trip: you don't have to eat dinner at 5pm anymore! The kids (your kids) are home and dinner can be *anytime*. The things I wish I knew before. There's also a kitchen for everything so everything comes out at random. The sushi is tiny with a big price (of course) and nothing particular stood out. The melting chocolate ball dessert was also a bit disappointing in its just melted chocolate but at prices like we were eating melted gold.

    Food

The food was amazing. I recommend the Chicken Udon Noodles, all the sushi, and the coconut parfait. The only reason this was not 5 starts was the service. While the food came out quickly, our server clearly was fed up with us quickly after starting to order. The design was nice, but it was a bit dark inside. Overall, great restaurant but needed a bit better service.

Pretty good for a Japanese restaurant. Visited on a Saturday night and it wasnt as packed when we made our reservation for 6 pm. Ended up getting packed at 7 pm. If you dont have a reservation, I did notice a couple of people end up waiting a bit for a seat. For food, we ordered the sashimi lion fish (first time trying it and absolutely loved the mixed firm and chewy texture) and the chicken teriyaki (dry, a bit rubbery. Sauce was ok). For appetizers, we ordered miso soup: tasted like miso, not watery. Generous with the amount of tofu and seaweed. Tofu was soft/melted right in your mouth and seafood was light and salty. For dessert, we ordered the coconut parfait: loved the presentation, looked like a realistic coconut with mango in between. The added brown sugar at the bottom made it feel like we were enjoying a coconut on a sandy beach. So sweet in mango and rich in chocolate and vanilla. Overall, we will come back here again. Staff was great, gave enough time to order, answered our questions, and served food at a reasonable time.

Chic restaurant decor. Nigiri was really delicious and fresh! Pretty pricey but that comes with it being on a resort. Service was great.

Was delicious and they were good with allergies. I enjoyed the tofu kobayaki dish and the rock shrimp.

I emailed them months beforehand and they had me fill out a form with food preferences and…read morerestrictions. We ate here twice. Both times, the chef came out and spoke with us. The bread was vegan. The chef also made an appetizer of heirloom tomato "salad" with vinegarette cucumber&olives, as well as brussel spouts. On the menu, the brussel sprouts had honey and cheese. The ones we received were sweet, but it seemed to be a slightly watery brown sugar mix vs agave vs maple syrup. I didn't think it tasted like honey but I haven't had honey for 10y. ‍ Also the waiter assured us it was not honey. However, we ordered this again the 2nd time and in conversation with the chef, I found out he was not aware honey is not vegan. I kindly educated him and recommended he assume vegans don't eat honey unless they state they do. He made our brussel sprouts the 2nd time with salt/pepper. We again ordered the tomato salad. Both times, the main was a special Beyond meat meal with baked potato and broccoli. The first one was more steak-like, the 2nd was more like a skillfully cooked Beyond burger patty. I never liked red meat and haven't had it since 2008, but both meals were still pretty good. Also had some bites of veganized steak frites (has gluten), but they were a littl dry. For dessert, we had sorbet both times. Overall, the chef was Michael and was EXTREMELY kind and caring. He did not get defensive about the honey issue and truly wanted to learn/improve. He made sure we were happy both times and even said goodbye after our meal.

The ambience: 0/10 due to it being extremely loud and not peaceful at all. It sounds like a noisy high school cafeteria. The food: 0/10 due to the taste being bad AND the price extremely high for what you get. We paid $80 for 1 filet mignon. Definitely not worth it. The baked potato was so overcooked. I feel like it had been cooking for days. It was dark and mushy inside. The Caesar salad was flavorless. The lettuce was wet and the dressing not tasty at all. There were 3 of us and our bill was over $500 for a noisy dinner with bad food. Take a pass on this steakhouse. You will regret going here.

Took forever for the food to come out and the sandwich would've been good, but the bun was stale and the fries had been sitting out a while as they were less than warm. As a major point within our meal - a guy with a broom and dustpan smashed and killed a giant centipede by the entrance while we were eating, not exactly appetizing. This took him over a full minute of hitting it on the ground while the entire restaurant was watching him do so. He actually broke the dustpan, he was hitting for so long. One of the most absurd restaurant experiences of our life. Watermelon Margarita 5/5 (Great drink) Piña Coloda 4/5 (Needs more pineapple) Chocolate Banana Colada 4.5/5 (Came back for this one) Steak Sandwich 4/5 Fresh Fish Tacos 4.25/5 Side Caesar Salad 0/5 (The salad smelled and tasted like feet, salad came warm, couldn't keep eating) We told the server about the Caesar salad who recommended we order it next time with cheese on the side. I NEVER send food back. In my entire life, maybe 2 or 3 times. For transparency, Caesar salads are my favorite type of salad and I've eaten no less than 100 of them in my life, many from different establishments. This was the first one I've experienced like this. We were still charged for the side salads that we hardly could touch. This was not a very pleasant experience service-wise, the drinks were good however. If you order the drinks as to-go you get more in them, just a little tip.

We didn't buy any extra activities we just got up and got there and 8:30 am and stayed till around 3 pm. So we had a full day. We checked out the pool then we went to chill Island and did some snorkeling. Ate lunch and then walked around the island took some pictures did some shopping. Then we took the tram over to South Beach and did the Nature trail Did some swimming over there. I checked out Captain Jack's and a few other places. We were getting tired saying ran out of steam to explore some more of the island but we got most of it done. The food was great. Lots of choices and the chicken was so good!! I did like how they had flavored water mango lime strawberry We didn't have that on the ship. The one thing they didn't have was coffee. We had a wonderful day. The tram is not one that goes around the island for sightseeing if you get on you have to get off at the stop. Then Wait for the next one too get back on to continue to the next place. I had the opportunity to watch while the Wonder docked right across from us, from our balcony. With each ship (both in the top 10 of largest cruise ships in the world, both handling ) docked, the island had to handle over 10,000 cruise guests at the same time, and the island seemed more crowded than for previous visits. There are towels stations located throughout the island where you can borrow towels against your room. The wifi that you are used to on the boat, also work on the island, with a handy map to get you around. There are paved paths, but a lot of dirt roads as well. I still haven't been able to make use of the shuttle transportation yet...it looks like you have to checkin, providing a bit more rigor. Will be back to the island later this year, so will need to try that next time.
