Tried some baked goods at the Naperville Farmer's Market and was very satisfied! I went with the cinnamon walnut croissant which was very good and reminded me of a cinnamon roll without the icing. It had tons of walnuts and a lottttt of cinnamon. It was a little more dense than I would have liked but I'm still glad that I tried it. I also got a loaf of the Sophia bread which had a nice texture and a very unique flavor due to the fennel and anise. Can't wait to try more at future markets! read more

I'm a big fan of their breads and plain croissants, not so much their specialty croissants, which I find to be greasy, heavy, and flattened. Though the flavors are creative, there is none of the airy lightness that I expect from a croissant. Anyway, back to their forte, which are bread loaves. The pane al cioccolato is to die for - a hint of chocolate with mini chocolate chips, not too sweet or overpowering. Great for breakfast or a snack. The sechskornbrot has a nice denseness, and reminds me of breakfast in Germany. Their breads and croissants are so fresh and delicious. Each week they have a different sweet or savory croissant, and bread. You could always place an online order ahead and pickup at the market. My favorite is the English muffin and the savory croissants. I've never had an English muffins that was so good before. It's light and airy. All the nooks and crannies! It's so soft and when toasted and slathered with butter, you'll never want store bought again. The mushroom and cheese and manchego and prosciutto croissants are so flaky and buttery. In the off season they do weekly dropoffs at designated locations in both these towns and others as well, So their product is available year round. I seek out the Kalamata Olive loaf - it's my favorite for making some great sandwiches. I like their chocolate croissants as well. They also advertise a couple other croissants - such as almond... these aren't croissants to me; more like large heavy sweet rolls. But they are good! English muffins are good too as many reviewers have noted. I like to butter them and add garlic powder before heating them up in a toaster oven - a great garlic bread alternative! 10/10 I live for their English muffins. We discovered Katich at the Oak Park Farmers Market a few years ago and have been loyal customers since. I have never purchased anything from here that I haven't loved. Our personal favorites are the English muffins as mentioned, their croissants(the almond one is SO good), and their Sophia bread which is rolled in seeds and has a bit of a fennel taste to it. There are tons of other options so definitely give them a try to find your favorite. Everything is always fresh and their staff is always friendly. As far as I know they still do not have a physical store front still but their site is super user friendly in order to place your order ahead and schedule a pick up at one of their scheduled dates/locations. Omg there croissants are amazing! As a couple other reviewers mentioned before they arent your usual flaky kind you'd see in a grocery store or anything but more dense and bigger. I usually just get the chocolate almond specialty and honestly I cant get enough. I try to get one every week at the farmers market. To me it satisfies my sweet tooth without it being overly sweet. I looove this bread. The english muffins are good but a little too fat. The baguettes are crispy, soft inside and have actual flavor. Semolina is one of my favorites with a slight nutty taste. I bake my own breads but gave up on the croissants (too many) and the baguettes ( can make it as good). As for the breads molding as on another review...really? Go to a grocery store with added preservatives, they will last forever. Talk about obvious. Their bakery uses specialty flour and they make it all fresh. Perhaps you have heard of day old bread? Yeah. 1 day. Makes a difference. Plus! Their bread is fantastic for Panzanella (basically a bread salad with stale bread infused with olive oil and fresh tomatoes) Most breads turn into mush but theirs holds up for that marvelously. The best bread we have had in a long time. The sesame seminola bread had a crunchy crust and was soft and slightly "elastic" on the inside. Warm, steamy, simply delicious. My mom lives in San Francisco where the very best croissants in the country are easily available (think Arsicault, B.Patisserie, Neighbor, Vive la Tarte, etc). Since my last visit to SF, I've been on a mission to find the best croissants in Chicago. Today, I bought Katic's almond, chocolate, and caramel hazelnut croissants. Wow!! The croissants are uber delicious! So fresh, HUGE, dense, chewy, and very sweet! If these croissants were flaky, lighter and "airer," they'll be ranked the best in the country alongside Arsicault. I had a dismissive experience similar to a reviewer below. Shorty story - the breads are good, but just don't have any customer service issues. I purchased a $7 pack of English muffins. There was no warning, such as "these muffins will mold very fast", "freeze them or eat quickly", or any waring beyond the exchange of money. I bought them on Thursday morning and by breakfast, early on Saturday morning, they were already molded. I didn't save the bread (because I didn't want it in my house), so I took a photo thinking the owner will be able to make it right next week. When I returned to the farmers market, the owner basically explained that she "TRIES" to warn all her customers about how fast they perish, but doesn't always get the chance. And basically, like the previous reviewer, I was s. outta luck. No offer to make it right - not even a half-off a new pack to meet me in the middle. Just nothing and a have a nice day. I can't lie, I felt very played at that moment. The bread is good, but I prefer to spend my money with vendors who have a *reasonable* appreciation for customers and their experiences with the product(s). Not to say customers are right all the time and we should be treated like royalty, but It seems there could be history here, and that I may not be the only person who has had this experience. read more

Woot! A friend and I found Katic at the Evanston Farmers Market. At the end of the season they said they took orders online and dropped at the EFM site on Saturdays all winter. We have been making our way through the specialty items and it's become a favorite ritual. The Kalamata Olive Loaf is not to be missed, and while it didn't sound particularly fetching, we talked about the Cracked Pepper Parmesan for a week after it was gone and will be impatiently awaiting its return. As for the croissants, they are fantastic. My fav so far is the Blackberry Pistachio, but anything with manchego is a close second. It's all def worth the drive from Lincoln Square to Evanston each Saturday morning (we take turns). If you have not tried this mana from heaven, do yourself a favor. read more

Beginning July 1, 2019 Katic withdrew from the Batavia Farmers market and added an alternative method for people in the Aurora area to partake of their wonderful baked goods. Go to their website BEFORE NOON ON MONDAY TO PLACE AN ORDER which can be picked up between 3-8 on THURSDAY. This early ordering is necessary so the doughs can be mixed and allowed to rise/proof. My favorite part of the Oak Park Farmers Market! Love their baguettes - they are soft on the inside with the perfect crust on the outside. And their chocolate almond croissants...so delicious. Okay, so was at the market last Saturday and the owner stopped me (she remembered our conversation) to offer me another loaf of the Garlic Asiago Bread. She apologized for her response to my concern about the bread I had previously received. I accepted the bread and her apology. The bread was AWESOME and so was the black forest croissant I purchased. Just tried Katic for the first time today. I will be seeking out every farmers market in the Chicago land area, just for this bread. I picked up 2 blackberry pistachio croissants, one plain and a pain du champagne loaf. The pistachio blackberry croissant had to be the most wonderful bakery item I've ever had. There was a pistachio butter and black berry jam in the middle. The outside later also had ground pistachio in it. Ugh, I wish I knew how great these were before I got home! Katic Breads is usually found at most farmers markets in the area. I believe they use to have a retail store, but found that they were more successful bringing the product to their customers rather than having their customers come to them (smart!) I have to say, I LOVE croissants. Typically if I see a croissant, especially if it's a chocolate croissant, I have to try it! Katic's croissants are the most flakey, lighest and freshest croissants I've ever had! I've found myself going to Wheaton Market every week just to buy my croissants and leave! They also offer a huge array of breads, including a fabulous herb focciacia! It's just too bleeping good to be believed. Anyone trying to stay away/cut back on carbs will be instantly defeated by Katic Breads. I've thought I've had really good bread before, but apparently I was completely mistaken, as the various Katic Breads offerings are just miles ahead of more expensive breads that many get from local upscale markets (like Foodstuffs.) Their breads are offered at a number of local farmers markets and while they don't offer a ton of different options, one thing is better than the next and it's all just decadent. There is a discussion of their process on the Katic website and it really results in breads that are of remarkable quality and taste - rich and layered flavors that are just magnificent. The croissants are ridiculous - the regular ones are wonderfully good, but the chocolate ones really take it to another level as you're already getting a magnificent croissant combined with a very high quality chocolate. Their products are really tremendously high quality, but they're consistently so, the quality doesn't waiver from week to week. My only problem with this bread is that I go through it way too quickly. There are few things more wonderful than bread and butter, but this bread and butter is ultimately very satisfying. The hearty Harvest bread is probably my favorite, but you can't really go wrong with any of their options. This stuff is worth a trip a local farmers market to try. They are at the Lake Bluff Farmers Market and it's not unusual for you to have to wait to buy things as a number of other people are swarming around their stand at all times - once you try it, you'll understand why. Again, just absurdly good bread but the kicker is that I think their prices are more than reasonable. read more

Some of the BEST bread I've ever had. I wake up early and get to the farmers market before work just for this bread! To date, my favorites have to be the asiago loaf and the harvest bread, but I've had their croissants and they are also phenomenal.
