The good: Their selection of clothing and especially of special event dresses is fantastic, the owner is very warm and helpful, and their clearance area has fantastic prices. Unfortunately, as I mentioned, I've had some not-great experiences at the store: The first time I went, my visit was fine. The owner wasn't there, but one of the two people working was really nice, and I found some great deals. My second visit was pretty stressful. I went in with my fiance and stepdaughter to look for elopement dresses. The woman working there, who was older and had gray hair, asked us if she could help us find something. We told her that we just wanted to browse. In response, she told my stepdaughter that there were some cute dresses she wanted to show her. My stepdaughter is a sweetheart and very shy. She didn't want to correct the woman or really have to deal with her at all, so I again told the woman that we were fine and just wanted to browse. The woman's response was to again tell my stepdaughter to follow her. My stepdaughter was deeply uncomfortable, and at that point, so were my fiance and I, but she begrudgingly followed the woman. We didn't understand why this woman was seeming to want to challenge our desire to browse. She didn't ask us once what we were actually looking for. Once my stepdaughter was able to break away from the woman, we left. It was the oddest experience--like some weird power play that we didn't understand. I didn't want to let that experience ruin Serendipity for me, especially because it's important to me to support small businesses. So I decided to give it one more chance a few months later. They really do have a great selection of dresses, and I was still looking for something special. That day, the owner, who seems like a really sweet person, was there and the shopping experience was a good one. I purchased two beautiful previously owned dresses. Here's where the experience went south, though; I made the mistake of looking up how much the dresses cost new once I got home so I could congratulate myself on my deal-finding skills. I discovered that they cost LESS new and that they were still available for purchase. So I paid more than I would have had i purchased them new, and the receipt indicated Serendipity doesn't take returns. It was very disappointing. I still might go back at some point, but I'll be checking the cost of items before I make any purchases, and I'll be reserving my visits for times that the unpleasant sales associate isn't there.

I take ALL of my upscale items to Serendipity! Please come shop there you will not regret it!read more

Tons of selection such as dishes, books, clothing, jewelry, toys, shoes and so much more! The pricing reminded me of many thrift shops I went to when growing up so it was definitely nostalgic walking in here! All the volunteer staff were super sweet, with a smile on their face and were a joy to speak with! I will be back ever so often to see what new finds I can find!

And then my most recent I went in to look for a mini crockpot to melt wax they had one when I looked at the price it was $18 which I thought was quite unreasonable I googled Walmart and they had a brand new one for $12.50 I went to the front and asked if they would take less for because I would rather give it to a good cause than a corporation and they said it's not due for markdown yet. I understand this is to help the needy but not while ripping off people

The thrift store has free parking and friendly service, shout-out to Pat! It's a donation-based mishmash of solid finds and junk. Like most secondhand stores, due diligence pays off! I fell for a vintage exercise bike in the furniture warehouse and mooned over an old piano. If only I had 4 body builders to lift it and a truck to put it in! With items ranging from a Richard Simmons workout video to Toni Morrison's Beloved, it's a treasure hunt! But Quinn House is more than a store. Many of the best items aren't sold, they're donated to domestic violence survivors & others rebuilding their lives. Quinn House's 40 day residential addiction recovery program is FREE. Instead of judgement, men at their lowest point are given shelter, honest work and a new start! Offering an alternative to recidivism, "guests" recover and save $$ so they can transition back into society. Rickie Smokes' testimony impacted me more than any sermon. 14 years ago he was a Quinn House guest, now he's the Executive Director! Years before Rickie entered the program, Pat and her young son were taken in by the Quinns. Today she's Rickie's other half, Thrift Store manager and over PR. Quinn House brought the couple together and they've committed their lives to service! Quinn House's pantry distributes 1.2 million pounds of food annually to Gwinnett County residents! Unlike some churches in DeKalb where poor people wait in line for hours for expired canned goods, a package of hot dogs & freezer burnt chicken, Quinn House offers quality meat and healthy produce. They even provide holiday family meals and monthly boxes for 130 seniors! Whether donating book bags, Easter baskets or Christmas gifts to 3,000 kids in need, Quinn House blesses Lawrenceville! How can you help? I'm glad you asked! Shop at the thrift store or consider donating household goods, gift cards or furniture. Local pickup is available! Check out the website for a "needs list" of grocery items or volunteer to pack boxes for seniors. If you're in need, call Quinn House to make an appointment.
