Costco rotisserie chicken makes me very sick, but I can easily consume plum market, rotisserie chicken. We love their local and specialty items. My kids are obsessed with Tillamook cheese sticks. We've had really good service specifically in the produce and meat department with people helping us and going above and beyond. One time a produce worker offered to make a mirepoix (fresh cut vegetables for soup ) for us while we were shopping, and when I was introducing my baby to solid foods, I got a lot of great tips from the meat counter worker. I will say that the prices are exorbitant and some things. I wish I could shop here full-time but it is very expensive. But when you have allergies, they learn that some things are worth paying a little bit of a premium for. We will always come in for their produce and rotisserie chickens. The produce I buy here is always fresh and delicious and I've never had a problem with mold, bruises, or slimy vegetables. I can always trust the quality at Plum market. They have an app also which has some pretty great deals sometimes. Their hot case is delicious if you don't have a bunch of allergies. We used to enjoy that quite frequently. The fish and chips are really good. I love how the bathroom has a fresh bouquet of flowers. They are beautiful and such a nice touch. I can always trust that any allergen specific food I will find at plum. I'm so thankful to have this in the community!!

Firstly, the food that is theirs really good just by looking at it and what is offered but it's pretty pricey. I got their soup as well and I can't believe a medium lentil is about ten dollars. They do have a great selection of hard cider as well and I think that's moderately priced which isn't too bad. They were giving out free samples of their new bacon and I was really impressed with that. Store is really clean and feels really upscale. Overall, i thought this was a really good store but various things that I was looking forward to not exist here and my expectations were not blown away. Still a solid place to check out nonetheless.

They also carry baked goods and various other prepared foods from local businesses like Zingerman's and Avalon. They do $6 sushi rolls after 8pm every night as well as some excellent deals on baked goods (50% off). The sushi is usually $11-15 a roll so the discount is great. It's not the best sushi in the world but it's very good for grocery quality. Otherwise, they (unsurprisingly) mostly carry organic and small-business brands. They have good sales sometimes but even then you can expect prices to be about 25% higher than what you'd see at a "normal" grocery store. Overall it's a fun place to go if you want high quality products but it's not really a feasible substitute for everyday shopping due to the prices. Will go back for the sushi at a minimum!

It is off Plymouth and right off of 23, so it was super convenient to hit up on the way to my friend's house. It's a bit pricey, but you would expect for a smaller specialty store than a big box store. Before going to this market I used to think my friend was a decent cook and then I was able to see how the food was always prepared and packaged perfectly to go right onto a sheet for the oven. The food quality of the salmon or chicken or whatever was always good. Makes for a good appearance of a good cook to even the most basic of cooks (Nuke kings and queens).

I am at Sparrow Market almost daily and am so happy to have a lovely, friendly local shopping center with high quality produce, delicious cheese selections, all kinds of interesting meats (butcher specials, too), and a variety of Italian delicacies, both ready to eat and ready to cook--plus a choice of sandwiches to grab and go...what more could a food lover-shopper want?

Well jeez, Grosse Ile has so many choices for groceries, right?…read more This Kroger used to be horrible-- kind of dirty and rundown, like most Krogers are. But now it is really nice! It was remodeled years ago, and I remember how excited my Mom was! She was so sick of the condition the store was in, the lack of specialty/bakery items, etc. It got to the point where she was shopping off-island, except for the random run there for paper products or last minute goods. Not only did they remodel the inside and outside structure, but they spruced up their bakery section, adding more specialty foods, and added a Starbucks. I was so ticked! I REALLY could have used a Starbucks there when I was in high school... instead I used to run to the Tim Horton's in Trenton and walk in to 1st Hr late. Overall it's a huge convenience, even if the Starbucks staff aren't trained all that well. I had to walk one of their baristas through how to properly make an iced chai. But oh well.

This Kroger, located on Grosse Ile, is smaller that their other stores in larger communities, but carries a much more high end set of products. I shop most often at the Southgate Kroger, so I can offer a comparison. 1. Grosse Ile has a much higher end deli and bakery. The Deli is primarily Boars Head products and high end salads. The bakery has more organic and artisan items. That said, both carry Old Delray Baking company bread :) 2. The produce is pretty equal and disappointing. Expensive and limited selection. This is probably Krogers weakest area. I am spoiled by places like Trentwood Farms, Blocks, Westborn around here. That said, the markets in Chicago and New York are far better. 3. Meat and Seafood. Grosse Ile has a high end butcher and seafood counter, but has less selections in the lower end product offerings. Quality and price are excellent. 4. Grocery. Both pretty equal. 5. Prices. Both have similar prices and simlar sales. The key to saving money at Kroger is use the Plus card and only buy items that are heavilly discounted on the yellow tags. Generally if you can stock up and only buy the brands you like on sale, you will be paying less than Meijer. Bonus: Gas Discounts. Families who buy substantial amounts at any Kroger can use the plus card discounts at stores that have gas pumps. The gas comes from the Marathon refinery in SW Detroit and reportedly has a BP additive package. Discounts range from .10-.50/gallon. Trick here is to meet your spouse/lover/child/parent at the pump and fill both vehicles. ..

I probably wouldn't have known they existed had I not received a local flier in the mail, so A+ for their marketing to get the word out! I noticed lots of brands I pay a hefty premium for at Westborn Market, so my wallet was more than willing to give Pelham a visit. The exterior of the building gives off a "liquor store" vibe, so keep a close eye to realize you're at your destination. The space is very open. It is not laid out like a normal grocery store, meaning it's got an open-concept versus miles of aisles. It's a fairly small space but not nearly as cramped as Westborn. You can pretty much figure out which direction to go from the front door. Pelham Market has a great selection of fresh veggies and fruits, all at reasonable prices. We were excited to see Sunset tomatoes, which are usually only sold in big-box stores. Everything on our fruit and veggie list was available here. If you're looking for a super-huge selection of organic-this and exotic-that, you won't find it here. But you will find the basics. The meat counter was well-stocked with some of my favorite brands including Boar's Head, Dearborn brand and Delallo. We picked up some delicious Delallo smoked turkey for only $4.99/lb, versus the cheapest turkey at Westborn for $6.99/lb. When you take your lunch to work every day, you'll really love the $2 difference per pound. Besides meats and cheeses, they also had a large selection of fresh salads, hummus, veggies and dips. They had very fair prices in their meat cooler as well. There are only two registers! So, if this place gets busy, I'm sure it'll be a pain to wait around. Luckily there were only a few people in line when we were ready to check out. The process of getting out was quick and painless! There was even an employee there to bag our items. Our shopping trip was about $20 less than we've been spending at Westborn. Sure, Pelham Market may not have 100 fancy cheeses or 12 varieties of canned tomatoes, but Jacob and I were more than pleased with their offerings of our weekly essentials.

The butcher is very knowledgeable. Pelham Market offers a variety of sausages, stuffed chicken breasts, kabobs, etc. The prices are also very competitive with other farm markets in the area.
