A GREAT Grocery/General Merchandise store with competitive prices! My mom worked at this store part-time for many years.

I never have had any problems with the Defiance, Ohio location since it opened in early 2000s. Great place to shop!

Good afternoon, I…read moream submitting this review because the experience at the Defiance, OH Walmart raises significant concerns about pricing accuracy and compliance with Walmart's published policies. On December 6th, my husband attempted to purchase a LEGO set that was clearly marked on sale throughout the toy department and was still listed at that same sale price on Walmart.com. However, the item rang up at full price. When assistance was requested, the associate who responded -- Robert, identifying himself as the "Up Front Coach" -- stated that although the set had been on sale, the sale "ended earlier that morning," and he refused to honor the price shown both in the store and online. When my husband pointed out that the sale signage remained posted and the Walmart.com price was still active, Robert stated that "Walmart does not honor its online pricing in-store." This directly contradicts Walmart's own corporate price-match policy, which states that stores will match the price of identical items advertised on Walmart.com. Please see the attached screenshots taken on the same day as this interaction. Beyond the inconvenience, this situation raises a more serious concern: If an item is advertised at one price online and on in-store signage, but scanned at a higher price at the register -- and leadership refuses to honor either advertised price -- this creates the appearance of non-compliant pricing practices. Whether intentional or due to lack of training, this is a significant issue that warrants immediate review. Customers should never encounter conflicting pricing information, particularly when a store leader provides inaccurate explanations of policy. The interaction itself was dismissive and unprofessional, but the larger issue is the breakdown in adherence to Walmart's own pricing and policy standards. When an "Up Front Coach" provides incorrect information and refuses to follow posted and advertised pricing, it undermines trust and may expose the store to avoidable pricing compliance concerns. Ongoing issues had led us to cancel our Walmart+ membership previously, and now it appears that we'll be doing our shopping as a whole elsewhere. I also emailed Walmart Corporate for review of the following for the Defiance, Ohio location to look into their: Training and policy knowledge for front-end leadership Compliance with posted and online pricing Removal of outdated or inaccurate signage Correct application of Walmart's price-match policy I requested follow-up communication regarding the steps taken to address this issue when it first occurred, but I wasn't even given the courtesy of an acknowledgement that my email was received. Customers should be able to rely on Walmart to ensure accurate and transparent pricing -- and to have store leadership that understands and upholds corporate policy. Yet, it seems that customer service has been thrown out the window. All I can say is Buyer Beware..... I believe their employee's actions and Walmart's lack of response says it all.

My feelings on this place have changed dramatically over the past year. While I loved getting…read moredelivery from here and all that, it's now somewhere I can't trust and where it is a huge pain in the ass when you need customer service. Every single delivery grocery order I've gotten in the past year has come with multiple expired items - not by a day or two, I'm talking milk and bread that are dated as best buy / eat by TWO FULL MONTHS PRIOR and rotten veg as well. On top of that, anything you get canned is completely bashed to hell which is HIGH RISK of botulism with how just insanely crushed and dented these things are. Otherwise they tend to just have nothing in stock and the employees seem incapable of choosing basic things to replace your items with if you order, say, "Made up chip brand 10oz" they will NOT think to replace it (even if you have substitutions ON for the item) with "Made up chip brand 9oz", instead you get nothing. The biggest problem truly is in the rotten and expired food though, especially because if you bother coming in to return/exchange it becomes even worse. Nearly EVERY SINGLE TIME I've ordered groceries from here in the past 12 months I've had to go in to the store to customer support and then spend OVER AN HOUR EACH TIME to simply get replacements with the same items. It is INSANE and the staff are completely delusional about their standing in life. I'm super polite and kind and don't even complain or groan about the issue, I smile and be nice, but they act like they are just 'above' doing anything for the customer, like you're asking the CEO to do it or something. These minimum wage high school dropouts really feel like it's okay to be a jerk when they can't even manage to replace "Milk" with "Milk" in under 90 minutes. It's disgusting. The non-grocery departments aren't any better. I've come here looking for some basic vehicle items I needed to replace (which walmart carries in all their stores, including this one) and asked one of the employees working near the service department for help finding the items only to be told they didn't care and it wasn't really their problem. Don't shop here, not in person and not online, unless there are some items that are absolutely unavailable everywhere else in town. The prices aren't even competitive anymore anyway, so there's really no reason to choose one of the most disliked chain companies when it comes to groceries in the country.

The reviews for the mall are all outdated (2 in 2015, 1 in 2020, none aside those 3 that I can see)…read moreand of course during 2020 the mall was dying from lockdown restrictions and such. However, as of the past couple of years the mall has been thriving probably more than it did before I ever moved out here. It has loads of new stores and new ones keep coming in, some close down and then they get replaced very quickly with yet another local business trying to succeed and have their chance - and some become staples of the neighborhood like the new bakery which seems to be doing fantastic and in my experience deserves to, everything I've gotten there has been delicious. They also have a brand new theater with some of the best newest technology and heated large lounge chairs for every single seat and really low prices of admittance. The food court needs some people who understand economics as they all charge insane amounts for low quality food - I mean a grilled cheese for almost 20 dollars? It costs under a buck to make that yourself, and better...no surprise they closed down in like 6 months but now they're replaced by some guy selling 20 dollar hot dogs. While I have no way to do so now, I like the location and the growth so much I've even been thinking about several years from now, if I'm lucky enough to have the money and sensible plans to, opening a business of my own in it. They even have events like a small convention, every few months a vendors fair you can join to sell your own things, and a regular card show/trading thing. I think more stuff like this would be fantastic for the mall, even just small holiday events would bring in a lot more families. The only thing I dislike about this mall is the lack of bathrooms (the only ones aside if you are a paying theater customer are way in the back by the theater and are extremely small and kind of really disgusting), the 'arcade' area needs to look in to having a real arcade put in instead even if it's just replacing what they have now with a few modern games, and one of the businesses just doesn't sit right with me though I respect their freedom to run it I just don't think it belongs in a family facility like a mall and I had to include it being there in my overall rating (along with the bathrooms and lack of entertainment to be here aside specifically shopping). Oh, also, some of the stores are just NOT CONNECTED to the mall while being IN THE SAME BUILDING? It's very strange, but without leaving the mall, walking around the entire building, and entering a store directly connected to the mall, you can't access a couple of the places in the mall. It's irritating and damages business both to the mall itself and to those businesses - a terribly stupid decision by the management and seems almost like it's nitpicking for extra dollars (my assumption is that they don't pay enough rent to have mall-access and so they were blocked off, you can even physically see the fake walls in place - though maybe the stores asked to be blocked off for some stupid reason?). Overall though, the mall is absolutely growing and doing much better than it seems to have done even since 2015.

I know that businesses are hit hard due to the pandemic but this mall looks like it's about to…read morepermanently close. There are less about 8 stores in this mall (no I'm not joking) and one of the major stores is closing so if you're reading this after August you don't even have that. The whole mall is a ghost town
