Stopped in for an impromptu breakfast with the kids. Wait staff was very pleasant & friendly, food was well-prepared and served quickly. Clean & upbeat. Will try again. read more

Food...not a problem..... The horrible service on the other hand.....where do I start.. We unfortunately were assigned to the worst waitress we have ever encountered.....ever. We even went out of our way to be extra nice but nothing seemed to penetrate her stone face.....she just continued to be unbelievably un friendly and seemed to get meaner the nicer we became. She left us with a horrible impession and we havnt been back since... read more

Best breakfast in town. If you have a choice between here and Tiny's always go to Dan's

I keep trying to give this place a chance. Unfortunately, they keep coming up short. The server was so rude and threw our check at us. Not happy at all. read more

The restaurant was empty on a Saturday at 8am that should have been our first clue that food wasn't going to be that good. I ordered a BLT and home fries the BLT had 1 piece of bacon and the home fries were microwaved then loaded with season salt. My husband ordered a toasted English muffin which was soaked in butter. We have both been the restaurant business for over 40 years and never would have served a breakfast that bad. read more

This place is your typical small breakfast restaurant. Cheap prices and quick food. Its good for a quick stop if your hungover or just feeling slow in the morning. read more

I went there for breakfast. Very clean, great service, good food and reasonable prices. Very relaxing atmosphere.

First the good news. The waitress was excellent; friendly and checked on us often. The food on the other hand was not very good at all. Brown & serve sausage at a restaurant? Are you kidding me? The home fries were cold, dried up and looked liked they had been sitting all morning and had very little taste. My buddy had ordered ham with his breakfast and whoever put that dried up piece of meat on he plate should be spoken to. Seriously, it looked like a piece of shoe leather. No way would I allow my staff to serve food like that. We paid the bill and left a good tip, and I'll give the place another try, but if it's the same, I won't go back, and I go out for breakfast at least 3 times a week. read more

Great for breakfast. Staff is very polite and responsive. My wife always has the eggs Irish, which is awesome. I have gotten many things and they never disappoint. read more

I have dined here several times and the breakfast and lunch foods are decent, nothing special though. I would agree that it as the best breakfast place in Ayer by far but don't go out of your way to dine here. The service is really inconsistent, the majority of the time very slow even during off-peak hours. read more

Breakfast is my most favorite meal! Dan's Place doesn't disappoint, they were fast and friendly. I ordered the cinnamon raisin French toast which was fantastic. My husband ordered the eggs Benedict which he said was great. We went on a Tuesday, it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away. Would recommend it to any breakfast lovers out there. read more

Gristley old chicken chunks in chicken sandwich! Indifferent unsmiling waitress. Place empty but long long wait. On a 2nd try, moist (!) limp toast. Again, distracted unpleasant waitress! 1 bright moment : excellent sweet potato fries. I won't be back unfortunately. read more

The food here is decent, nothing too out of the ordinary. The reason for the low marks is the water. It tastes horrible. We have complained in the past yet no improvement. Oh and the service leaves something to be desired, well at least on Saturday mornings. I say go to Tiny over this place. read more

Went in for lunch. Took about an hour to serve us and they got wrong. They have to learn to multi task!

The Food Is Sub Par, The Atmosphere Is Very Beat Down. The Bathrooms Are The Kind Of Unattended To That Makes You Nervous For How The Kitchen Looks. It Could Be Worse, Barely. read more

Group of 5 went for lunch at 12pm, We ordered simple foods: wraps, turkey club and burgers. It took 55 minutes for us to get our food. The waitress "in training" came over and had to repeat several times what we ordered, while the other waitress spent time at the bar with her boyfriend. The service was extremely slow, food was mixed up and they charge $2.25 for bottled soda. Would not recommend based on this experience! read more

I've been to Dan's Place quite a few times and i've loved the food every time. Especially the Eggs Irish. I've never noticed or had any problem with the cleanliness that some other reviewers talked about. It's an average, all-around good, breakfast diner. The coffee's good, the food's good, and the people are nice. I've gone back many times and plan on continuing that. read more

Most excellent for "what it is." Friendly, quick service. Full of locals and interesting overheard conversation. Good food. Homemade homefries. Contrary to another reviewer's assessment, the coffee is pretty good "diner coffee." If you - like me - really enjoy the local culture of the diner scene, you can't beat this place. Check it out. Enjoy it. read more

On the road and it can be hard finding the right place and we were delighted to have picked this breakfast place. Great food and excellent service don't miss the delicious fryer home fries! read more

Breakfast was okay but the little girl waiting on us had attitude. She brought the wrong side and acted like it was my bother's fault for ordering the wrong item. When I was a waitress, we would just apologize and bring the customer whatever they wanted, no matter who's at fault. My brother was stuck with paying for something he did not eat. Tip for her, gratuities are a direct reflection of the service. If it wasn't for my husband she wouldn't have gotten anything. Seems like they have a lot of customers so maybe rudeness isn't always an issue. read more

Great breakfast, awesome people taking care of you, great value, clean....all the right ingredients for a great diner!

Definitely one of my favorite places to go for breakfast...and in the summer - for ice cream. It is a laid back, very relaxed...(albeit fairly busy on the weekend breakfasts)...seat yourself, and walk out very full, kind of place. I won't call it a greasy spoon...it's a few notches above that - the waitresses are usually high school students and very nice... a little spacey on service occasionally...but hey, you don't go in there for 5 star service. You go to sit back, have a big and basic breakfast, sip coffee and laugh with your family. (I am glad they finally started taking credit cards though.). A restaurant I am glad to have close by. read more

Went here not to long ago because Tiny's was packed. Haven't been in a few years and was suddenly remembered why. The food was bland, no seasoning. Ordered sausage gravy and biscuits, what I got was gravy and biscuits no sausage. After asking the waitress where the sausage was, she brought me a plate of cut up links to add to my now cold gravy read more

The food there is awful. Bacon and sausage is pre-cooked, as it is in all breakfast joints, yet every time I've eaten there, my food was cold. The homefries have no taste and the coffee is low grade and taste awful. It's amazing the place is still in business. read more

We go there regularly, if you are looking for that old time diner experience this is it!

Don't waste your time or your money! I was hungry when I entered, and felt foolish for going here when leaving. The atmosphere is depressing, the service was lacking, and the food was clearly canned. The toast was soggy, eggs pale and skimpy, and the hash was what you could get yourself in aisle 4 of your nearest supermarket. Coffee weak. Total cost $10 plus tip. I suggest you look elsewhere for breakfast. read more

Yikes, do you self a favor, keep driving. The food was greasy and the service was marginal. The atmosphere was not typical diner. Thank goodness it is only breakfast and lunch. read more

Pretty tough to screw up breakfast but they definitely do it at Dan's. The sausage links are pre-cooked, all they do is throw them on the grill, and heat them up, but they are still always cold on the inside. The homefries have zero taste, the coffee is low grade and awful tasting, the pancakes are gritty, and the staff there aren't even friendly. Go to Tiny's! read more

Garbage couldn't have made it worse if I tried microwaved sausage chalky eggs eggo waffles don't make for a good breakfast we won't be there again read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dan's place! If you are in the Shirley/Ayer area, you MUST stop by! The food is delicious and fresh, the service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant itself is just what you would want to find in a beautiful, New England small town. I will definitely be coming back to Dan's place!!! read more

I recently went to Dan's Place for breakfast, and being from out of town, I'd say the food was pretty great! I'm from the south where breakfast cooking isn't just something you do, it's a past-time that you enjoy at least once a week. And Dan's Place rivals the best in the south. I'd recommend the biscuits and gravy, and a large cup of coffee. I'll certainly be back! read more
