Hubby and I stopped in since am we have a pick up down the road. We travel the country and always judge places by the omelets. This place in fabulous. But that's only part of it. When we walked in we both got the feeling we should do something nice for someone. It's strange that we were both hit with that feeling, then I read the reviews and several of them talk about recieving a Random act of Kindness. Something about this place must inspire that. I got the veggie omelet and hubby got meat lovers, they were both amazing. I was also given a choice if I wanted my home fries done on the grill or fryer, I have never had the option and it was great. Service was very friendly and attentive. We will be back!!! Apparently Karyn would had worked at "Dan's Place" bought the place from Dan a few years ago, and changed the name to "Karyn's Kitchen". I'm not sure who Dan was, but it still seems to be veteran friendly. I stopped by here one day at 1:45pm for a late lunch, only to be disappointed that they close at 2pm. I decided to come back another day and ordered a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of cole slaw. The slaw was deliciously sweet and with the right amount of tanginess. I'd say more similar to KFC cole slaw than not. The half-pound of ground beef made the burger a clear winner for me. Shredded (vice sliced) cheese added to the visual appeal, though the 2 thinly sliced pickles was disappointing. I suppose I was expecting a pickle spear, but in any case it was very filling. I convince my colleagues that Karyn's wasn't bad. So my colleague suggests going together. I ordered a Pastrami sandwich with cole slaw and extra pickels. My sandwich comes with 3 thinly sliced pickles. I suppose technically 3 pickle slices is 50% more than 2, but come on...just one extra pickle? LOL. Not a deal breaker at all, but then I'm told that they don't have anymore cole slaw, so I get the onion rings instead. When the checks come out, I attempt to pay my bill only to find out I had received one of those Random Acts of Kindness. That totally took me off guard. I've been challenged to pay it forward. Sorry but this place is filthy and the food is equally as bad. You'd think they could use the waitresses standing around waiting for the bad food to come out to clean the place. I sat at the counter and was disgusted by the grime everywhere and don't look at the carpet. Gross. A couple of the waitresses were friendly but at least two were not. The food is poor quality and poorly made. My toast was cold and not toasted and the bread itself was bland. The hash browns were super salty and also cold, the bacon was way over done and poor quality. The only good thing were the eggs but all i had were over medium. They had a decent crowd which was really surprising to me but they want for a very long if they don't do something. read more

This little breakfast place is cute and vibrant in atmosphere. The staff are all extremely sweet and helpful and know what they're doing.. The food is DELICIOUS!!! I always get some sort of egg plate and I have to say please make sure you get their hash browns! I love Karyn's and always will because of the food !! Yesterday was not as great as it normally is . The service started off so great and by the end we got handed our check and our server then sat down and started eating as if it was her break . How do you expect me to check out? Wait till you're done eating ? This has never happened in my life and I was so disgusted and disappointed with her . All you could see was her coworker looking over giving us dirty looks as they both continue to eat there food knowing that we were waiting to leave . I love the food and always will !! We went here a month ago and although the service was very slow and it took forever to get our check we decided today since it was very rainy out to try again. We arrived at 9 am. We ordered eggs, home fries, bacon , a blueberry pancake and toast. My fiancé's eggs were over medium and were good, mine were scrambled with bits of black in them they appeared to be scrambled on a grill hence the black pieces and came looking like the had been put thru a shredder. The pieces were very small and couldn't be picked up with a fork. The potatoes were abundant but had way too much paprika on them that's all I could taste. The toast was barely toasted on the outer sides but cold soft bread on the inside. The pancake had no flavor and the syrup was watered down and tasted very fake. Again service was slow and after we finally got the check I had to sit with my check and money waving it until the waitress came for it read more

I'm updating my review. When this was Dan's place, it was depressing. Maybe Dan was having a mid life crisis, in the middle of a divorce, with children that hated him because that's the vibe this place had. It's a totally different place now. Theres no more unused ice cream counter just collecting cob webs. The food is actually good and doesn't look like it was prepared by someone that hates cooking. Breakfast is a pretty easy thing to make so it's not too hard to do a good job. Karyn's set itself apart in two ways. The early AM waitress and customer were both nice and when I realized I would have to wolf down my food to keep an appointment they happily boxed it to go and sent me on my way with a ton of condimenst and a togo coffee. I already order the same thing here, called the special, two eggs, toast, bacon, and I substitute the home fries for the hash browns. I like the hash browns, it's fried and seasoned. The home fries are tossed on the grill but it's not the fried version but it's a preference thing. It's definitely my spot now since I've moved up here. I've been coming here on my drill weekends even when it was called Dan's Place. The decor hasn't changed and same goes for the menu but I'm not complaining, I kind of like it. The employees are great and they show enough attention to you. They have a minimum of a $10 purchase for you to use your credit/debit card but I guess that's only your concern if you're eating by yourself. All in all, I do enjoy coming here. read more

My daughter and I brought my 8 year old granddaughter to Karyn's Kitchen for her birthday breakfast and let me tell you, we were pleasantly surprised! The establishment is very clean, very warm staff and the food was excellent! My daughter commented on how good even the homefries were, that's saying something because she's an amateur food critic! Great little spot for breakfast. Runs you about $25 with tip for two. All in all clean, decent tasting breakfast that I certainly could not make at home. They do have lunch but I have to had the pleasure yet. The Irish eggs were great and the Belgian waffle that my daughter had was light and fluffy. It's nothing spectacular, but I've never had a bad meal there. Breakfast food is pretty well done, I'd say. The homefries are a bit undercooked, and the hash browns tend to be a little soft, but beyond that, it's pretty good. They make a good turkey club, and their chili is decent. I remember quite liking the corn beef hash omelette, too. Biscuits and gravy is nothing to write home about, but I enjoyed it. Their coffee is not particularly good. I tried their Steak Tips and Eggs last time I was there, and with a little A1 sauce, it was a good meal. Honestly, I'd say stick with the standard breakfast foods, and you'll be alright. read more

It was a Sunday morning so diners get busy. I understand that. Went in and say at the bar and wasn't acknowledged for ten minutes. Didn't get coffee for another ten. Ordered food and didn't get it for an hour. No one told us the wait would be that long. No one really talked to us and when I asked where our food was it was like I was annoying the waitress. Service was atrocious. The food was decent but not worth the pricing. I wish I could tip the cook, because there was one cook on for a Sunday. Been here for breakfast a couple times and have really enjoyed it. The restaurant is mostly plain inside, with several booths and counter seating. Service is no frills friendly and attentive. They have a good "hungry man" meal, with choice of pancakes or french toast, choice of bacon or sausage, eggs, toast, and home fries. I really like the Eggs Irish - corned beef hash with egg and hollandaise on an english muffin. Good serviceable menu with all your standard diner breakfast fare. I've been coming to this place off and on for the past 3 years I've lived in the area. I dig it. It's decent diner food. I will agree that at times the service can be a little slow, but I've never left there upset at the quality of the service or the food. I've tried some of the basics for lunch and breakfast and haven't had a problem with either meal. I do like that this is one of the few places in the area with decent biscuits and gravy. Lately we've been having brunch here, and that's definitely a nice feature, having a place that serves a later breakfast in the area. I've also been to Tiny's for both breakfast and dinner, and I'd say the places are on-par food-wise. Pretty sure they have more servers at Tiny's though. About the only things I'd improve about the place are to have fountain drinks (or at least a bigger selection), longer hours on some days, and maybe bigger cups. I get that it helps profit margins, but more choice would be nice. Just beware that at one point, there was a minimum charge for credit card use. read more

I've never been to a place that messes up scrambled eggs so bad, mine and my boyfriend's were absolutely awful. The home fries too. Needless to say neither of us finished our meals.
