The food was ok, nothing special, but tasted ok. I had the French dip sandwich and the roll was broken and could not be eaten as a sandwich, but it tasted fine when eaten with a knife and fork. The sandwich came with a salad which was big and tasted great however the dressing is given on the side, in a small plastic cup, which was half full. I asked for some more dressing to finish up my salad and it was promptly delivered. BUT when I got the bill they charged me a dollar extra for the additional dressing. Come on, there's about ten cents worth of dressing in the cup. I don't mind spending money on good food but I hate to be NICKELED AND DIMED. $19 for the sandwich - just give an extra salad dressing when requested. I may go back but hate be charged for every little thing when I'm paying a lot for basically bar food. So visited this very popular Holbrook restaurant for the last time last night. I've given negative reviews, for the exact same reasons, in the past. The owner actually replied. We've gone twice since then - same issues every time. Here's what happens - 1. The door manager DOES NOT BELONG in a people business. Rude, abrupt, unfriendly. 2. The food is good - not great, but good and quickly served. 3. Last night the manager came 4X to the table wondering when we'd be done. On the last two visits he went to our waitress and asked her to (a) give us our dessert menu (we had eaten 4 apps and hadn't ordered dinner yet) and then (b) to give us our bill. (We were still drinking and a beer had just arrived) 4. Our waitress was awesome and understood what was happening. 5. They have lines every night. Looking to 'Churn and Burn' - don't go here if you are : eating with family, looking to catch up with friends, if you talk at dinner. 6. Sit down. Read menu quickly. Order. Drink fast, eat fast. Pay your bill. Leave. 7. On top of the 4 visits from our angry manager a young lady with an iPad came by 3X marking her seating chart as she passed us. The pressure to leave was amazing. One yelper accurately reviewed this place the best when she said "ever date the perfect guy, but there was something off?" Well I'd have to agree (only replace guy with girl lol). Been here several times now, and I feel as if I just can't love the food here, and my last experience really was the tip of the iceberg. Some dishes such as the burgers, sandwiches and flatbreads are pretty good. The apps are for the most part good as well, but some entree dishes (main fare) are just lazy, lacking quality, and just generally disappointing. Karvers looks nice from the outside; atmosphere is spot on, inviting and interesting..but it's not as good as it appears. Here's what was ordered: Apps - Chicken wings: Ordered them traditional buffalo, but was brought Thai chili seasoned instead. Granted, I did ask the server questions about the Thai chili, but definitely remember telling her buffalo, but let's give her the benefit of the doubt, honest mistake. I'm adaptable, so I tried them anyway. The wings were not crispy and did not have a good coating of the chili sauce, so it was pretty boring and bland. Irish Spring Roll: This was interesting. I wonder if they were made fresh or previously frozen. Tasted pretty good, and was bigger than expected, so no complaints on this. Not bad, would order again. Dinner - Pan seared Salmon: Completely disappointed. One redeeming quality was the portion size. Other than that, not great at all. The "Atlantic Salmon" was previously frozen and farm raised. The plating was an absolute mess. Nothing looked appealing (see photos). The mashed potatoes were mashed to hell lacked volume, and tasted more like a porridge. Completely under seasoned. Scallops Casino: Horrible. Scallops were tiny, over cooked and again lacked good seasoning. The dish looked nothing like what you would think from the description, and was more like a fettuccine Alfredo covered in melted mozzarella cheese. Again, see photos. Kids meals: chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. Both came with vegetables. Standard, tasted fine and was served at proper temperature. OVERALL: Enjoy some apps, burgers, and flatbreads at the bar and have a few drinks. Don't sit and expect a quality dinner, because you won't get it, and will pay through the nose for it. I feel like I threw my money in the garbage. The server was FANTASTIC. Very polite, and did what she needed to do. Good on her, bad on restaurant. read more

Came here for lunch with family about 5 years ago, don't recall being impressed then. But, decided to try it again last week. Here's my review: Onion rings seemed to be straight from a restaurant depot. They were "ok", but honestly, it reminded me of a larger version of Burger King onion rings. Crispy and cooked fine, but they were a $3.00 add-on, not worth it. Was expecting a freshly battered type of onion ring. Gotta do better. Fries tasted average, but more more enjoyable than the onion rings. Nothing special. Caesar Salad was boring and not worth $6.00. Weak flavor, cookie-cutter. Have had better at many places elsewere. The french dip sandwich was actually good. Meat was good, and the horseradish sauce was a nice compliment. The bread was also good, not too hard, but perfect. French onion soup was good, but not worth the $8.00 or $9.00 they charge, maybe $6.00. Mac n cheese was "ok". The environment was welcoming and clean. Bathroom was clean. The female server was very friendly and accomodating. Overall, the quality of the food was "ok", but fell short in the areas mentioned above. There's lots of competition out there, and for the money, they could do better in improving the food quality. Overall, it's just "ok", but not so sure "ok" is good enough for us to come back and spend hard earned money when you have places like Drifters and Southpaw who offer better food for the same price. read more

Ever date the perfect guy, but there was something off? That's how I feel about Karvers Grille...here's why I have gone to Karvers dozens and dozens of times. I like their extensive menu. However, they have a strict (and stupid) rule that you can not alter any item on the menu. So, if you want fries instead of potato, you are out of luck. I like their cocktails and enjoy going there for happy hour or on a date. But I can't find myself loving their food. Every time I hope I will love what I order, but it always lacks something. I mean, stale bread or stale pizza crust, no salt, needs sweet or sour, mushy needed texture. I can't win whenever I try different things. However, service is always great. And I love their big cozy booths up in the bar area. But, the food needs tweaking for anyone to love it. If you try, you will see what I mean. read more

Love Karvers for the convenience of it being the only restaurant like it in this immediate area. Def a little pricey (2 of us usually end up spending $60) for bar food, but the food is always top notch. I got a salad with cheese, crasins and nuts on it. The dressing was AWESOME. Husband got the burger. Was massive, cooked perfectly and super juicy. The best thing about Karvers is their apps. Pricey, but all the best, specifically, THE WINGS. Bone in or boneless, need to get the Karvers sauce or their signature sauce. It's not spicy, kind of sweet but unlike any other wing sauce and the main thing I always want when I come here! We've tried the other apps and they're also awesome and ordering a bunch of those to share is usually the way to go. read more

What is so funny about a paying customer leaving a bad review on your business? I'm curious to know if the department of health would find it comical that your cooks do not wear gloves. I'm even more curious to know if they'd find it funny by timing you for allowing your staff to clean everything with solely bleach and hot water which is a health code violation. The food was terrible, we ordered the scallops that came on a mound of watery angel hair pasta!! There were maybe 6 tiny scallops, the fried Mac and cheese bites were also tasteless!! I had wine which was good but my fiancée had the apricot old fashioned that was supposed to be smoked and the bartender could not bother smoking it, it tasted like pure bourbon on the rocks!! After an over 100 dollar bill we felt like we threw a 100 bill away, so needless to say we will not be returning!!! We've been to Karvers a few times since my last review and it has always been consistently good. Today I met a few friends from work for lunch and we all had another great time at this restaurant. We made a reservation and as soon as we all arrived we were seated right away. Our server Kerry was awesome from the moment we sat down. She came over took our drink order and then asked if we had a time restriction so she could get our order out right away. We told her we did not, so she came back when we were ready to order and was just so great and friendly. She continued to check on us to make sure everything came out the way we wanted, but she never made us feel rushed. We had a really great relaxing lunch with excellent food! Their soups are so delicious, we had the broccoli soup which comes with the meal, or you can have one of their salads instead. They were decorating for the holidays when we got there and the place is looking really nice. We will definitely be back around the holidays to check it out. This is a really great place to have great food in a casual, friendly atmosphere, and you can also go to watch football since they have nice size televisions all around. Amazing is the word that accurately describes this place and I am disappointed I didn't try it sooner. We came here last weekend for an early dinner and everything was delicious and our waitress was so friendly. I started with a sparking peach cosmo and it was good and something different from what I would usually order. Onto food, we split the Thai chicken pizza to start, OMG it was delicious! I wish we got two! For our entrees he got the French dip with sweet potatoes fries and I got a grilled chicken sandwich it had pecan bacon and garlic aioli and I substituted for the Karvers fries and I am glad I did. Everything was so tasty with lots of flavor. We will most definitely be back sooner rather than later! read more

It's was nice and quiet, guess that was because of the time I have chosen. Severs were great and helpful. My waitress was great had good attitude. Put the main event was the food. Man that nachos that have are for die for. I don't know what it's grilled chicken with jalapeños and there's colorful chips it's addicting. I was shock everyone enjoyed it. The main course was great, good for perfection. Glad I came here. If your willing to take the drive and have a extra couple dollars then this might be your place. I came in for lunch with some coworkers for the first time, and everything was awesome. My coworkers had all been, except for me, and all said such amazing things. We all kept it pretty simple, wraps and salads, but my wrap was delicious. I got the grilled chicken Caesar wrap and it was super well made and tasty. The show stealer was those sweet potato fries. I'd order a full bucket of them. What really did it for me was the service. The staff was so friendly and welcoming and made sure everything was perfect from beginning to end. You really can't beat that. A review without mentioning beer? Who would I be? While I didn't have anything while I was there (hey! Karvers Grille Dinner Review: Spinach and Artichoke Dip: Very tasty and hot out of the kitchen. Pairs well with the multicolor tortilla chips. 100% would recommend. Bistro Pasta: Came out just as described on the menu (bow tie pasta, sausage, shrimp, and chicken in an incredible white wine sauce). So flavorful and the shrimp was delicious (even though this is not a seafood place). You get enough food to take half of it home for lunch the next day. The double Stoli Orange and club soda, was so strong we thought the vodka was tonic water! Very good drink selection for cocktails too. My Rating: 10/10 read more

We had no reservations on Sunday night & stop in to see if they can accommodate 6 people the hostess said they had one table getting up & could be 10-20 minutes. Within minutes they called us in. When we got to the table we were immediately greeted by the waitress who took our drink orders & appetizers. They dropped off a bread basket & manager popped in to see if we needed anything & said hello. Truly the service & attentive amongst the waitresses & staff gets a 5 plus! The mozzarella stick were delicious on thing it needs is a thicker tomato sauce but it's definitely great. The Chicken tenders were definitely better than the chicken in the Buffalo chicken it was to much to thin for a sandwich. The favorite salad was the Arthur Avenue Salad & Favorite Sandwich was the Philly Steak Sandwich. We were happy to find Karvers Grille & thank you for your great dinner experience. read more

Welcoming greeters, our server, Chris was awesome, the servers who brought our food to the table were competent and friendly, the food was fantastic... Very comfortable. We were out in what I guess is considered the porch area, heaters kept me comfy. Would like to have had a new tealight candle on our table because I had to lift one that was lit at an empty table. My second visit, my husband's first...he was pleased. He's fussy about his beer and Chris brought two samples of the ones my husband considered... Overall a delightful experience. I'm only giving it four stars since I've only been there twice, both times during a slower time of day. I like to judge a place also on their busy time of day. That really shows their strengths and weaknesses. So far absolutely no complaints. Delicious lunch both times. The staff was extremely accommodating for my pregnancy woes, certain foods I crave and certain foods I need to not be anywhere near LOL. I sat at the bar since I didn't want to take up a table as I'm only one person. The bartender was very helpful in picking out something I can eat. He remembered the struggles his wife went through with those certain smell aversions. It was very nice of him to help me find something to eat. Only very mild adjustment, like added hot sauce and extra pickles. I had a BLT that had perfectly cooked bacon! Then the peanut butter pie (not made in house) good.
