    Perfecting her "focus" command

We have been working with Rob Adams from Karma these last few weeks to help us further train our new Doberman puppy. We were referred to Rob as we noticed that our pup was getting easily riled up and acting out and wanted to get help to correct it before it became habit. We originally learned a lot of the commands and basic training through Karma's puppy kindergarten program (Shoutout to Emily, Saidee, and Tawni at the Chattsworth class!) as well as a few personal training sessions with Kate H. who was also very helpful when we first got her. Recently, we have learned a lot from Rob about how to really work through her acting out and becoming an overall better trained puppy. He is extremely knowledgeable and very patient (with both parents and pup!). Our sessions together are a really great way to focus on our dogs own needs and let's us really come up with a specific training plan for our pup. We take his advice and incorporate it into our daily routine and have seen a great improvement in our dog and look forward to seeing even more progress as we continue training. Additionally, we also did the board and train with Ashleigh L. while we were on vacation for a week. Ashleigh was really great about giving updates and helping to continue her training while we were gone. Everyone we've worked with at Karma has been very helpful and we look forward to continue our classes and training so we have the best trained pup! Their online resources have also been very helpful.

We've been working with Rob Adams from Karma Dog for 3 weeks now and already seen a huge change in our dog. Rob has helped Georgie (and me) to be more confident, relaxed and happy and its paying dividends in all aspects of our dog's behavior and life. And this was in just 3 sessions! We're excited to see where Georgie gets to as we continue to work with Rob.

Rob attuned to my dog, Cleo, straightaway and she was so responsive to him. Rob is a master at his craft. He does it with ease, good humor and warmth. I aspire to be like him

I highly recommend Kathryn Hoohuli and the team for puppy Kindergarten class. I have taken the same class with different trainers at another location, but Kat, Kelsey and Shelby went above and beyond our expectations. It truly makes a difference that they were always on time and attentive to all pups in the class. They are truly passionate about what they do. Thank you!

My dog Ruby received training from Kathryn Hoohuli and I am very pleased with the outcome! She helped guide me through the do's and don't's of owning & training my dog. Ruby is very well behaved now and has some new tricks up her sleeve. Kathryn was easy to work with and very accommodating when it came to my busy schedule. Would definitely recommend her!

Rob Adams from Karma dog Training was so great! He has been working with our Airedale Terrier for a few weeks now and after only 5 sessions she has really improved! She has learned many commands and overall is much more obedient! I can even enjoy our walks together! I look forward to learning more from Rob, after all, he is not only training our dog Cleo, but also training us!! He is great!

Luna has dog reactivity but thanks Rob Adams and his group class at Warner Center Park, Luna is slowly but surely thriving! Thank you!!!

I adopted my pit/lab mix dog, Luna, a little a month ago and had been training her with Rob Adams from Karma Dog ever since. Luna has terrible dog reactivity and cries, pulls, and lunges every time she sees another dog. Rob has been fantastic and very communicative throughout the entire process. Luna has private sessions which help with learning commands to help her when she is reacting, but Rob's group class at Warner center park has been the best thing for Luna's progress. She is still reactive, but I am noticing an amazing difference in her behavior around other dogs! In our last group class, she did not react at all when another dog was constantly barking. Usually, she would cry and jump around frantically. I am very optimistic that Rob and the Karma Dog family will help Luna get over her fear of dogs. I HIGHLY recommend Rob Adams to anyone with a dog! The most significant benefit with Rob is I can see how much he cares for every dog he works with, and that makes it a better experience overall. THANK YOU!!!

Kathryn H. Has been helping train our rescue pitbull Moose on and off for a while now and she is absolutely incredible and has helped us SO much! Finding her was a true gift! We rescued our pitty at a year old and he had horrible anxiety around other dogs and when we would go on walks he would pull and whine so much it was practically unmanageable. Kathryn taught us how to "speak his language" and how to redirect/focus him. We have recently been able to actually take him to a dog park where he was able to play with other dogs!! Thank you Kathryn for everything and for helping our family!!

Leo with his big smile on training day!

The sitters who watched my cat took detailed notes and lots of photos, there was great detail in the reports. The sitters followed my instructions to a tee. We had an issue with my lockbox but they were so gracious and kind as we worked through it together. They spoiled him in his last days. On the final day it was reported my kitty had thrown up. When I got home he had not improved and I brought him to the vet. Unfortunately, his cancer had spread and I had to say goodbye. This had nothing to do with the care VPS gave Archer. In fact, I think the care they gave him helped him wait for me. When I am ready for a furry friend again, I will be using this company and will recommend them to all my friends.

I panicked. I kept thinking I made the wrong decision because I had several business trips planned, and several days at work where I just couldn't be at home to let him out for a potty break and keep consistency with his time to play, rest, and potty train. I heard about Valley Pet Sitting years ago when I had my first precious boy, but although I called them, it turned out I didn't need them because I had family that could pitch in when I was away. They literally saved my life with my new puppy. They come to the house and give me a play-by-play of everything they did with my puppy (including taking pictures and videos of him playing in the backyard with them) on their app. They also use a Gio tag so you can see where they are when you pooch goes for a walk or just plays in the backyard. The sitters are kind, knowledgeable, and thorough. They asked me every detail about how I take care of him and what's important to me in my home to make sure they don't leave anything disturbed. They even called to make sure that it was OK for him to be on the couch when he made a decision to take a nap during a visit. They are exceedingly responsive and reasonably price for the quality of care and peace of mind I get from their support. I love this company and will certainly be recommending them to friends and family in need of Pet Sitting.

While I do appreciate the fact that Alaina offered to refund her fee, I was trying to be nice and thought that she had given us her time, etc. However, after some time away from the situation and after attending MUCH cheaper / MORE helpful classes at our local PetCo, I now know that we didn't get really anything out of the two partial days she spent with us. Lesson learned. First example, she contradicted herself on more than one occasion confusing us and maybe even herself. We rescued a puppy from a shelter, a puppy that had been in quarantine and had come from another high kill shelter. She told us to get over where the puppy came from because the puppy got over it already...however she sites Pavlov and how dogs learn from positive reinforcement but how can they only learn from the positive, don't they also learn from the negative?? She admitted that she misspoke and didn't mean to. She mentioned that during our meetings, she has limited time so she sometimes rushes through things. Not good. Second example, on to our first actual meeting (the consultation), she spent AT LEAST 1/2 of ours telling us about how she had clients that lived in $10 million dollar homes and other similar comments, as if this would impress us, really?? It felt a little slimly, used car salesperson anyone?? She did not give us the full two hours 'we didn't need it'. Third example, she wanted to take my dog for the day, I do not know where and was very confused because she hadn't made this clear to me. She said she didn't have enough time during our training sessions to really work with the dog. For whatever reason, this made me very uncomfortable. How are we going to work with our dog if we are not there?? I think she was probably going to take the dog to her trainer because she was more than a little perplexed by our crazy puppy. * Her walking technic would have killed the dog if we had implemented it. She wanted us to pivot the other way when she pulled. This would have never worked with our dog. * Walking should be fun, not THAT MUCH work for the dog or us! * The 'bonk' she wanted us to smack the puppy with pissed the dog off to no end, created more anxiety in all of us and the dog. * There is not a one size fits all for training any dog. * She sites 'bad dogs' for barking at her dogs while walking or standing in front of them. These 'bad dogs' are on their property, behind a gate. Why are they bad?? Aren't dogs supposed to bark at times? My dog, without her help, walks by similar barking dogs every day, looks at them and keeps walking. * We felt that she was always watching the clock, not really giving us the full hour training we expected. Live and learn. I have learned, love our local PetCo, Bridgitte gets our crazy dog and loves her.

It was telling because when we picked the dogs up Danny profusely apologized for what happened which as you can see from the response below is very different then what they say now. High Paw to me has always been a safe place where we could leave the most important "people" to us without any fear. That is such a rare thing to find in the world. What happened last Monday felt like a deep betrayal of that trust. Danny has always been wonderful and we have been leaving our dogs there for several years. He even made sure to care for our sweet dog who was in his last days with such thoughtfulness that they had a fan for life in me. That sadly changed last Monday night when we left them at their new location for a 6 night stay. Even from the drop off- something felt very off- there was very little discussed and the conversations were abrupt and really non- existent. We had our best friends dogs that were also going to be there for the first time for the 6 days, and we recommended high paw without any thought. We were told that the dogs would be well taken care of and we would be updated frequently on how things were going. When we checked in- High Paw didn't ask any questions at all about how much to feed the dogs or their potty habits or walking or anything, which is a big deal for 6 days. We texted them directly after dropping them off just to give them all those details . We didn't receive any response. We followed up a few more times, and everyone (especially the ones that hadn't been there before) grew concerned. We called and no response. Our flight was due to leave in a few hours and we hand t heard anything back. After multiple attempts we finally reached the owner who was defensive and dismissive of our concerns and when we asked questions if they had eaten or gone out this evening- instead of confirming - she told us to come get the dogs in the middle of the night. When we picked them up it was clear that not only had they not been fed (the food hadn't been touched) but they all seemed desperately thirsty. It broke our heart because not only did it torpedo our vacation it broke the trust we had in leaving the ones we love the most with them. We were kind and courteous throughout the entire process and our only concern was for the dogs and just needing some sort of update letting us know they were okay. In the end- it comes down to trust. It takes a long time to create and an instant to break.
