Juicy, smoky, and a little messy--exactly how I like it. Once you've had Uncle Charlie's, no other meat will ever measure up... Just to clarify - I'm talking about bacon. Seriously the best bacon in Lexington - an orgasmic experience for your mouth and more affordable than you expect from a dedicated butcher. Your breakfast will never be the same after Charlie - and you won't regret the trip despite the location requiring navigation of New Circle Rd. I have heard rumors about the country ham but either forget to check or am unlucky in timing. Added bonus to visiting this strip mall is it frequently includes live entertainment in nearby parking lots.

Not even a "We do have hotdogs though." Or..."Yeah, we sold out of hotdogs." Not even trying to upsell me, yet I know they had some good hotdogs that a coworker had bought for our business bbq a few years ago when I was at a previous employer.

In less than 24 hours, received an email from Nick Critchfield offering understanding and a means of getting that gist card mailed out to me so I can put it under the tree. I appreciate that such great customer service is still a priority for some purveyors. Three cheers for a family owned business with good values and support of their customers. Thank you, Nick.

Lots of meat samples were available, including beef sticks, jalapeño cheddar beef patties, and ring bologna. It all tasted amazing and we purchased some of the cheddar beef patties as well as two packages of the beef sticks. The showroom itself has a rustic, down home feel to it and the staff is extremely friendly. We felt more like friends than customers. There is a nice selection of beef, pork, lamb and chicken in the display cases. They stock a wide variety of meat sticks in many different flavors. All are reasonably priced. I was delighted to find sweet Lebanon bologna, something I haven't found in Kentucky yet. After making some selections, including a beautiful lamb roast, we made our way to the counter. There, we discussed with John their whole and half beef offerings, and their whole hog and lamb offerings. Prices on these bulk purchases are VERY reasonable and they provide grain fed and grass fed options. Grass fed options are expectedly a little more expensive. Claire showed me a steak cut from their grass fed cow, and I have to admit it was nicely marbled and a beautiful deep maroon color. It appears they age their beef perfectly. We took their fliers and will be back early next spring to purchase our 2026 meat supply. These folks also process over 4,000 deer a year. They provided me a free sample of their venison sticks. They were delicious! Due to the fact that this a Mennonite, family run business, I wasn't sure how they would feel about pictures, so I didn't take many. Honestly, pictures are unnecessary. These folks run a solid, quality family business, selling quality meats at reasonable prices. Come check them out for yourself. The store was clean, smelled good and had a down home ambience. Parking was ample. The business is handicap accessible. One thing to note. These folks are way out in the countryside, along a dusty country road. Follow the signs, and you'll eventually arrive. You'll think you're headed the wrong way. You're not. The signs are accurate and will lead to the place where friends "meat". After visiting this fine establishment, there are lots of other small family businesses to purchase your produce and bulk foods from in the immediate area. This place is situated in very scenic Kentucky countryside. I am happy to give these fine folks a five star rating and plan to continue to make the hour drive to visit them for our meat and poultry needs.
