This salon is amazing! I visited there for a root, touchup, style, and cut. Originally, I had purchased a Groupon, but when I booked my services, the owner explained that she could provide a better price structure than what Groupon offered. So, she was already providing excellent customer service before I walked in the door. The salon is exceptionally clean, well appointed, parking is easy, and it is easy to find. I was able to book an appointment the next day. Rosy was my colorist and stylist. To say that she is a magician with hair would be an understatement. I have curly hair that can be complicated for some stylists. My color to cover my roots absolutely spot on and flawless with the rest of my hair, and blended beautifully with my natural highlights. Because I have Auburn hair, I have seen some pretty scary results with blindingly. Bright roots look hideous. That was absolutely not the case at this salon. My color is perfect. Rosy was also able to cut my hair with a dry cut. This is always my preference because I want to see what the length will be when my hair is dry. Her cut was absolutely fantastic. Nothing was too dramatic, but everything was cut off was necessary. My hair looks the healthiest. It has looked in years. I also included a Brazilian blowout. This is the first time I have done that, and I am incredibly impressed. Rosy explained the process and the maintenance to me, and it looks phenomenal. The salon owner provided me with the deep conditioning treatment to use when I wash my hair in a few days, and reiterated the process and expectations for a Brazilian blowout. When trying a new salon, things can be anxiety producing. That was absolutely not the case at Karizma. The entire experience was wonderful. Rosy is amazing and I will return! I went to get my hair done 2 weeks ago because I bleached my hair myself and it was so patchy, many different colors as well LOL. It was also very damaged so I was scared to even touch it anymore. The woman that did my hair saved it to be honest. Im a very gorgeous chocolate brown color, thats exactly what I wanted! My natural hair color is the blackest black, I was so tired of it. The ladies I talked to in the salon were all very nice, we had lots of fun conversations. I was disappointed in this salon. I bought a groupon for a brazillian blowout. Upon making the appointment, they asked me to return the groupon and they would honor the price. So I did it to help their business. The blowout was BAD. She only made 1-2 passes with the flat iron for each section. And she wanted to upcharge me saying that the groupon stated an upcharge may be needed based on length of hair. My hair is chin length and thing. Trying to upcharge me was shocking! Of course, I didn't know that the blowout was bad for 5 days until I shampooed it and it is still wavy and frizzy. I do not have difficult hair- i have had many blowouts in the past with great results. Now I am stuck for a month before I can use the chemical process again and shell out more money to correct their mistake. read more

Apologies for the long review. Slightly over two months ago, I made an appointment to get my eyebrows threaded. While there, I asked about getting a silver toner treatment to get rid of brassiness in my silver/dark gray hair. History - I grew out my gray in early January 2018. I stopped coloring it all together. Six months into growing out the gray, I got a very short pixie to removing all dark color at the ends. I used to be a brunette. It's taken me approximately 4 years to grow out my silver/dark gray hair to about 2 inches below my shoulders, one length, and loved the look. I have had a toner treatment on my hair many times (elsewhere) with no issues whatsoever. I was quoted what I felt was a high price for the toning treatment, but I figured I was there, there was no one in the shop so I proceeded. The owner gave instructions to the lady who threaded my brows to mix toner treatment and apply it. When the treatment was done, my once silver dark gray was now a silver/ light brown color. When I got home and examined the color under better lighting. I thought something was not right. I called the shop owner and told her my hair color was not right. She told me to come back in and she would fix it. I did and it came out the exact same. So my hair is now silver/light brown and it looks horrible. In sum, it looks like a cheap color job out of a box! It looks like a mistake. Even a pixie haircut will not fix the color. Only a close shave will get me back to the original color when I originally walked into shop. Concerns, the brow threader lady did not mix the toner treatment correctly, may have left it in too long, did not know what she was doing and am beginning to doubt she is even a licensed hair dresser. Stay away from this place if you value your hair. Finally, to add insult to injury, my eyebrow threading was just as awful. This place deserves a "0" rating. STAY AWAY. **Hidden $25 Fee** I came in for the Brazilian Blowout $103.50 Groupon deal. First off, be warned that they charge an extra $25 surcharge without even telling you off the Groupon price, regardless of how long your hair is. So you'll be hit with a way higher bill leaving, so be warned! Honestly I thought this was kind of deceptive, especially since people will be driving in from far to get the treatment. If you want to charge $130, $160, $250, no problem, but be /honest/ about it, you know? I know it's common place to charge extra for long or thick hair and since everyone knows that, that's okay. But as someone with short, thin, hair, I thought this was really deceptive. When I asked her about it she just said "you have to read the fine print". Had I known about the fee, I would have gone to another place, since there were like ~5 other salons offering the $103.50 price. **Sort of rushed through process?** They definitely followed proper Brazilian Blowout procedure. However, it felt like they rushed though it, compared to the official training video of how it should be done: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vN8mnyxUcw I actually timed myself so I could compare later to future Brazilian Blowout experiences. I was in the seat ~4:14 pm, she shampooed / conditioned my hair, then applied the product, and by 4:42 pm was blowdrying it, by 5:10 I was out of the salon. One thing to note, is that, according to the video, the hair should be shampooed out multiple times to get it squeaky clean, for mine, they just did it once. Also for straighter hair, the video recommends flat ironing it between 4-7 times, but my hairdresser only did it 3-4 times. So she took about an hour, not including the 2nd treatment phase + rinse (they gave me the treatment in a ziploc bag to put on later. So, compared to that official training video, it definitely feels like they could have taken more time. Also, just a heads up, they do *not* include the smoothening serum with it (I asked and they said that you have to buy it separately), so just be aware. **Mixed Staff** The hairdresser I had was really nice and really sweet! Same thing with the receptionist. However the woman in charge was really rude, barked orders at the receptionist, and just didn't have the courtesy / professionalism you'd expect in the service, client-facing industry. It was an okay experience. I just think that hidden $20 fee is really really deceptive and dishonest. I still tipped the hairdresser $15 so hopefully she gets that and I can help future people out by pointing out the hidden fee and mentioning people should just go to the other 5 salons in the area offering $103.50. Suffice to say, I won't be going back -- I don't like when businesses are deceptive about their charges, there were like, 5 other salons doing the same thing at $103.50, and I prefer that salons take their time when I'm paying them that much money. read more

I have never ever had a more painful threading experience than this one. She actually left threading burn marks! How is that even possible?? I came here once before from a friend recommendation (different lady at the time) and i did not have this painful of an experience. In the end, my brows were done well, but jeezus lay off the pressure! You really grilled it into my skin. It's like you go to a wax salon and they tore a chunk of your skin. I went to the salon requesting a root touchup and a cut and a deep condition. They said my roots for too long (which may or may not have been true) and I needed full hair color. The color I chose was NOT the color I left THE "salon" with. The style of my hair, which was just cutting off about an inch of hair and keeping the current style, apparently was too much for them to handle. I left with a bowl/shag style. The price they charge me for the coloring was exorbitant! Then they did the threading of my eyebrows "for free ". I've had this done many times, and I preferred to the wax removal. My stylist was Sholleh and she did the most wonderful job on my eyebrows! Because my hair is so blond and difficult to see, most people take off too much of my brows! Sholleh was very careful to not remove too much of my eyebrow before she carefully layered the tint to get it to a noticeable but not too dark of a color! It's apparently difficult to get a blond person's eyebrows dark enough without looking like they were done with a Sharpie! Sholleh did it carefully then checked the color, added a little more, checked the color and guided me into the best look I've had in years! I will be coming back to see her! They barely use the treatment on my hair. Charged $80 extra. $50 is for long hair treatment(my hair length 4 in from shoulder + $30 haircut! the goupon sale is for short hair. I've been going to Karizma for years and up until recently, I really liked it. The owner used to do my eyebrows and she did such a good job, it actually looked like I had more hair than before she started - just perfectly groomed. But over a year ago, she stopped being there or sold it. I dunno. I've had a few other ladies do them since then and they've managed to do a good job. I think I kept coming here because it's convenient to work and I can squeeze it in on my lunch break or after work. It's on the ground floor of a sketchy looking motel but has a separate entrance clearly marked with their name on the sign. I would've given them 3 or 4 stars, but now? There's an older lady there who is awful! I was told she's only there on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but I've seen her each time I go in and she's messed up my eyebrows each time. They were too wide and straggly and the hairs grew back faster so I needed them redone in a week instead of my usual 2-3 weeks. The worst part? She's SUPER SLOW when she threads and it's TORTURE. My jaw hurts from clenching it and I have to remember to breathe through the pain. Not to mention her breath stinks and she smells like tuna fish and ends up rubbing her belly against me while she works. NEVER AGAIN. read more

This place is over priced. 16$ for threading is too much. I pay 10$ including tip in other salons in Irving. They charge double the regular price and they don't even provide the service worth it. The lady didn't even use moisturizer after threading. When i asked the lady there, why the rates are so high she started arguing with me. I remember getting my upper lip thread for 2$. When i told her that she started arguing with me and saying she has been in this industry for 20 years and never the price was 2$. All the salons in Irving and Plano charged 2$. I guess some indian salons started charging 3$ recently. I couldn't go to my regular salon as I didn't have time so i decided to try this one which is in my neighborhood. I get many compliments for the shape of my eyebrows and the lady at my regular salon does amazing job. This lady started saying that they were too thin and the shape was bad, whoever did it didn't do it good. I told her not to even tamper with the shape. I am head over heels in love with this place!! First of all, I'm from California and NOT used to this Texas heat and humidity. My hair frizzed up so much! So when I found this groupon for a Brazilian blowout at such a great price, I couldn't pass it up! The service is phenomenal too! I was a little tight on my schedule and needed to be seen ASAP, and they were so convenient to see me the next day! That really meant so much to me! Once I got to the salon, it is oh so beautifully decorated! Chandeliers and comfy couches just so aesthetically pleasing! I was quickly welcomed with a complimentary drink and seated within 5 minutes! The girls were all so friendly and delicately handled my hair with some of the best service I've ever had! I most recently re-dyed my ombré which left my hair nearly dead! The ladies noticed the damage done to my hair and paid special attention to it! By the time the treatment was over, I could run my fingers through such silky hair that I could only get before from heat products! A couple days later and I am still so in love with how it came out! I've been going to Karizma for over a year now. I so agree with others that it's pricier than other threading locations, however, its still better location than most other places I've been to, even if it's located in a Comfort Inn. If you find someone good, you can come in on their days to make sure you get the same eyebrow shape each time (although I really doubt anyone will remember the shape after two weeks). Best strategy is to go with someone that is actually pretty good and make sure to sit on the farther sided recliner seat with the brighter light. I try to make it on Tuesdays but it's not always feasible. There's one lady who is super slow and so threading turns to be quite painful (horrible experience). Everyone else is much faster and still accurate with their shaping. Threading is $10 and wax $6 for upper lip. Haven't tried any other service here but they do offer full salon service. read more

I went here for my Brazilian Blowout. I have done it total of 3 times here and each time it has been amazing. I recently had some major medical issues and my hair totally was fried and just gross. I scheduled an appointment to do my Brazilian Blowout today and they fixed my gross hair to beautiful. Fixed my color and my hair is silk smooth. I just love it. The staff is so amazing and sweet. I purposely let my brows grow out so that I could have them threaded. I decided to try here since it received decent Yelp ratings. My other option was m Heena in Richardson, but it is further away. Karizma is located in a retail space of a motel. A little strange, but okay. It has a nice sign above the door so you can see it. I went in and was immediately greeted, and ushered into the threading area. The woman, I am guessing the owner was not too personable, and she instructed me to hold my brows. It makes sense as she had to hold the thread, but it took me a minute to figure out what she meant. She worked fast, and did a really good job of shaping. The threading was $10.00. I've been using this place consistently now for about two months. I get my eyebrows threaded and my lip threaded. I never have an appointment, just walk in. I've had to wait once for about 5mins. I'm pretty picky about the shape of my eyebrows, I think every girl is to some degree. And if you're not, you should be. Good brows can make a world of difference! read more

This review is for the hair stylist there, Denise, and her Brazilian blowout. Let me start with I originally scheduled my blowout on Monday (31 MAR) and due to an unforeseen work event, I had to reschedule. She usually only works at that salon on Sun/Mon, but because I have an event this weekend, she made a special concession to get me in on Tuesday night. (win!) Once there, she explained all the different aspects of the blowout, and got to work. Despite the fact that I have A LOT of hair, we moved through the process (typically this is a 2 hr plus process) pretty quickly. Denise was very nice and knowledgeable. Also, my hair looks and feels AMAZING. I am looking forward to seeing it in a week or so, and will update again then. For her professionalism, kindness, knowledge, and flexibility I give this experience 5 stars! The "salon" looks nice enough, they even have pictures of ppl that they have had their facial hair removed using their thread method. The problem is they were rude and a bit rushed. When I was getting the threading done it just didn't feel right. She took a lot longer than it typically takes and was using many short, quick strokes. When I got up, I wasn't even offered a mirror and had to use one that was permanently fastened to their wall. When I got to my car I realized that one of my eyebrows was rounded off and one was square. HORRIBLE JOB!!!! I have learned my lesson and will never try to cut corners. Their keratin treatment didn't work and I came back to the salon. They accused me of everything in the book without taking ANY responsibility. Here's a list of just some of their accusations towards me: Manager: "You must have gotten the Brazilian." Me: No, I got the Keratin, since you recommended that I get the Keratin Manager: You must have slept on it, or washed it immediately post treatment. Me: No, I slept on a silk pillow and didn't touch it, or come in contact with water for 6 days Manager: You must have used the wrong shampoo. Me: No, I used the shampoo that's sold at this salon Manager: You must have bought the shampoo from some other place, and they sold you a fake. Me: No, my husband came in and bought the shampoo from your salon Manager: We remember your husband completely. Your husband must have bought the wrong shampoo. Me: No, he bought the correct shampoo at your salon. It says Keratin on the bottle! The manager still proceeded to accuse me and my husband of purchasing the wrong product! I The correct shampoo is in a white bottle and the other bottle is in a gold bottle! I think I can differentiate between a gold and a white bottle! It is insulting and demeaning to treat a customer this way. She was so stubborn and insulting. The manager then accused me of wanting just a free treatment! I can't believe they're in customer service. In reality, I purchased their product through them, followed all instructions, and I used the right products. I have receipts and the WHITE bottle to prove it. For two hours, I was constantly accused and made to feel cheap! Your product and your customer service are garbage. read more

So I purchased a Brazilian Blowout on Groupon thinking - whats the worst that can happen? It is a pretty easy procedure so I figured I would give it a try. I have gotten Brazilians in the past and the price point was almost too good to be true. Well - it wasn't! This salon specializes in threading and waxing but also do facials, hair styles, and ...Brazilians. They are a certified salon of the Brazilian Blowout and use the actual Brazilian Blowout products. Process took a little over an hour and Nabia was extremely detailed and got every last little stubborn hair. An hour later - and my hair is amazing! So soft, shiny, and manageable. She even gave me some leave in conditioner to put in my hair the following day for my stubborn dry ends. All in all a fantastic experience and I will definitely be returning. read more

I bought a groupon for a haircut, deep conditioning, and styling. I wanted my hair curled at the end as I was going to event that evening and asked my stylist if she could style it like that after my cut. Before beginning, she told me there would be a $20 upcharge because I had "thicker" hair. I agreed to the extra charge, thinking that the extra was also for curling my "thick" hair. My haircut was average, I only had a couple inches trimmed off and the curling was something I easily could have done at home with my flat iron - there were even spots that were still straight. When I went to check out, my total came out to be $72 ON TOP of the groupon price I had already paid. Stay away especially if you are African American w/ natural hair. Went there in March 2017 received Brazilian Blowout for a discounted price of $225.00. Informed treatment was a temporary procedure lasting 3-4 months which isn't true at all. From day one I hated the texture of my hair from getting the BBT. My hair was frizzy, lifeless, dull and all of the above from the moment getting out of stylist chair. Six months later my hair experiencing ridiculous shedding, thinning, bald spot, sore scalp, and don't forget texture hasn't transitioned to natural state. Contacted headquarters of B.B. Treatment with my concerns, rep stated my hair seem over processed from treatment and another stylist agreed. I were under the impression Joey B. (Hairstylist) had years of experience as a hairstylist and knowing the Brazilian Blowout product. Ladies please think twice before using this product. They have been doing eyebrow threading since before it was was the "in" thing and in every damn shopping mall. So after my hair was done by a really kind, awesome lady that works there and I go to pay the owners like its $25 and I was like the groupons for $20 she's like yeah there must be a discount going on or something. Next time you come its $55 sthg. It was kinda rude and I felt like she was calling me out for using groupon. I was really upset with how the owner treated me. I had let my eyebrows grow out because I wanted a really clean threading, So I made sure to not tweeze prior to. I walked in Valentines day and there was no waiting line. Ok so I tell her that I do NOT want my natural arch changed, nothing off the top, just to clean them up. I love the natural shape of my brows. She asked, "do I want them thinner?" I said, "NO." Again, I like the fullness of my brows. So she starts to do the first one, about 10 minutes in she hands me the mirror and I said, "oh no I don't like it, can you fix it and make my shape come back, they look flat." So then, the next time she hands me the mirror they are now thinner! At this point I want to cry, they are a different shape AND thinner. I tell her to just at least make the other side match so they can grow out evenly. She gets really agitated and before I can even defend myself, she starts to yell at me, (at this point there are people waiting,) yelling that I told her to make them thinner. I said," NO I told you NOT to make them thinner or lose the natural shape." I was really unhappy; she stormed out of the room, I was wondering if she was coming back, nope...she left me on the table, went to the register, started to ring me up, didn't even wipe my face. I was furious with how she treated me. There was no need to yell at me. If she would have just been apologetic or somewhat compassionate, I would have understood, hey sometimes they mess up, it happens, but the way she acted, how unprofessional. 1 star only because the place was very nice and clean. read more

Came in for a Brazilian Blowout. I have very curly hair and the real Brazilian Blowout treatment is the only proven method to keep my hair from getting too frizzy. The salon is very clean and nice. They gave me a great rate for being a first time customer. I had to wait a little even with an appointment, but I was okay with that. I have long hair and it took about 60min-90min to complete the process (which is very normal). I am very happy with the results and will continue to come back here for the Brazilian Blowout.
