The front office did reschedule me on the spot, but I made a whole trip out there fighting commuter traffic all for one big nothing. Guess their patient coordination system needs some work because that was a HUGE oversight (update: pun unintended but when I caught it I chuckled).

She was quite kind and informed me of what to expect from each procedure. After a 20 minute wait, Dr Do performed some tests and examination and explained some of the results to me. They said another test was needed. But it could not be completed today. I asked if it was because my eyes had been dilated. Dr. Do said no the person who does that test doesn't work on Tuesdays. I expressed my frustration that I was scheduled for a glaucoma exam and one of the people who performs a glaucoma test doesn't work on the day my appt was scheduled. Dr Do quite rudely responded with"What do you want me to do?" Not in an I'm here to help way but in the you are unreasonable and I am annoyed way. Even though it was more than reasonable for me to be frustrated that I would need to come back for a second appt due to this lack of patient consideration in scheduling. I said you could start by not being rude. At which point, Dr. Do very slowly laid one hand in his lap and placed the other on top, leaned forward and as condescendingly as possible said, "She's not here today." At this point, not wanting to be treated in this manner again, I asked if I could see another dr on my return. Dr. Do said yes, grabbed his clipboard, very curtly said go to the front desk and stormed out of the exam room. By the time I gathered my things and walked out into the hallway, Dr. Do was at the reception desk impatiently waving for me to hurry down the hall. Some of the information Dr. Do had provided was confusing to me and some of my questions went unasked because of his abrupt end to my appt. I did call to ask my questions but there was some guesswork involved in the answers I received because I was not talking to a doctor. Maybe I'm wrong, but I expect more respect, maturity and patient concern from a doctor who involved in my care. Maybe the other doctors in your office are more capable of understanding and caring for patients. However, at this point, I do not feel at all comfortable returning to an environment. where I've experienced such an extreme lack of professionalism and consideration.

I was…read moreso nervous after being treated at Northwest Eye Surgeons horribly and having been put in situation that potentially could have been life or death. As a healthcare provider, I am very careful and particular about my providers, having seen a lot in my 40 years. Dr. Sun was AWESOME! He took on my case immediately, and the care I received from beginning to the end was superb! Let me start with the office staff, they were unbelievably helpful, I had to have my surgery in an OR, not a procedure area. They took on the scheduling and insurance company with finesse!!! In fact, we thought it would be a month or more to get approval. It took about a week. They were accommodating in scheduling both before and after surgery. They are amazing!!! Dr. Sun was an outstanding provider. Unlike other clinics, he did not try to upsell me, trying to make more money. He presented my options clearly, and he was honest about which lenses he recommended. He did not try to push me into buying the most expensive types, letting me know both the good and bad of each lense. I NEVER felt pressured or like I was in a cattle call, just trying to get as many surgeries and as much money as he could make. My surgery had complications completely UNRELATED to my medical treatment, and directly related to having waited too long and having a complex cataract. This required much follow-up. I can not tell you how impressed I was with how available he was at the drop of a hat. He followed up with me later in the day after my surgery, personally calling. He followed up with me the next day, and for the next month. I had to go in urgently to address issues, and when I called the response was immediate. His office staff immediately had me come in. He was patient, kind, caring, and very willing to answer my and my husband's questions. In the hospital, as I was getting prepped for surgery, the staff was talking about him. They had great things to say about him, and they complimented him on his care and treatment of staff and patients. Those kind of recommendations do not come lightly, and as I was very nervous pre-op, this helped with relieving my high anxiety. Yes, his building is old and in a weird place, but once you are in the doors, you are treated very well, and the care you receive is outstanding! I have recommended him to many of my fellow colleagues and friends. One of my family has worked for an eye dr for years, she intends to go to him for her cataract surgery. With my eye healed, I am ecstatic about being able to see, not realizing how bad my vision had gotten. I am grateful EVERY day for the surgery and how lucky I am to have had him as my partner in this cataract journey. I have another cataract that needs to be addressed in the future, and I am relieved that the decision of who to go too has been made. That is half the battle right there.

It seems Dr. Sun's review is either 1 or 5…read morestars so I'm writing a 4-star review:) I deducted one star because his Northgate office is in an old and outdated building and it's not the most comfortable and inviting waiting room. I don't think all these one star reviews has anything to do with Dr. Sun's ability to provide a proper vision care! I've been under Dr. Sun's care for almost a decade. I receive annual diabetic eye exams and recently received two cataract surgeries from him with complete satisfaction! My eyes are unusually complicated due to multiple RK surgeries that went wrong about thirty years ago. I've been to many ophthalmologists but I trust Dr. Sun for my vision care with total confidence. He is a good doctor and a surgeon. Visits with him are precise, short and sweet. He doesn't waste your time with running you room to room running unnecessary tests to bill your insurance. He is knowledgeable, genuinely caring an excellent surgeon. He doesn't rush you and answers all your questions so you always leave his office satisfied. He cares about his patient so much that he actually called me several times to check on me after every surgery even when he was on vacation! How many doctors do that? So for great eye care, I give him two thumbs up!!

I was put through a series of exams in stations - with no privacy - one of the stations was actually in the hallway. The young woman (tech?) who worked with me was sweet but wore a hoodie and had a computer covered with stickers. There was no explanation of what the testing stations were - just a "put your chin here". By the time I got to Dr Nash (who did none of the examining) I already felt uneasy. He sat across the room and didn't seem to hear why I had come in. There were some attempts at upsell of services I didn't need. At that point, my trust level was zero. If you're looking for thorough, patient-centered eye care, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Oh yeah, and they solicit Google reviews if you need further examples of unprofessionalism.

The exam was quick, we talked about how the new glasses would help neck pain and eye strain. I told him I would love to have one place I go back to again and again for eye care as I don't have insurance for it and am paying time of service. Learning to navigate the KP system can be a bit challenging, but just a short period of looking through the websites and it becomes clear how to get what I need. We are blessed to have such good care. Anyone complaining about KP hasn't done their homework. His questions about my medical history and current health were thoughtful and specific rather than routine or generic. What impressed me most was the thoughtfulness of his clinical judgment--his questions clearly reflected a careful effort to understand the full picture of my health. His manner was relaxed, professional, and genuinely caring, and I left the appointment feeling confident that my health is in very capable hands.
