First of all, this used to be a great clinic about 6 years ago, but they have expanded clinics and have outsourced all of their customer calls to a call center in Las Vegas. If you need a refill on a prescription, good luck. You will call, be placed on a hold and someone with little experience will try and message your doctor (or will say they will and won't). Half the time you have to call back again and they act surprised that a refill had been requested. My doctor used to spend a good 20 minutes with me (I have dry eye) and now she rushes in, discourages talking, and is out in 8- 10 minutes. This is after waiting for 50 minutes while they make me do a regular eye exam, even though I get my contacts and eye glasses somewhere else (Thank God I don't have to deal with them in that capacity!!). Their patient portal is also a headache. You can't leave any messages to your care provider -- only to make appointments (once again saving them money so they don't have to pay a person to talk to you). If you need timely help, count them out. I am going to look for a smaller sized provider to get more personalized service. read more

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Eye Associates NW was disappointing from start to finish. The entire process felt like an assembly line. Impersonal and unprofessional from the very beginning. Check-in is done by a machine, not a human. I was put through a series of exams in stations - with no privacy - one of the stations was actually in the hallway. The young woman (tech?) who worked with me was sweet but wore a hoodie and had a computer covered with stickers. There was no explanation of what the testing stations were - just a "put your chin here". By the time I got to Dr Nash (who did none of the examining) I already felt uneasy. He sat across the room and didn't seem to hear why I had come in. There were some attempts at upsell of services I didn't need. At that point, my trust level was zero. If you're looking for thorough, patient-centered eye care, I'd recommend going elsewhere. Oh yeah, and they solicit Google reviews if you need further examples of unprofessionalism. read more

we were originally told the glasses would be ready in two weeks, but after hearing nothing, we discovered the order had never been placed. After they reordered, there were still no updates. When the glasses were "ready," the prescription was completely wrong--the reading distance was about 1.5 meters. They acknowledged the mistake and said they would replace the lenses within a week.Weeks passed again with no communication. I eventually left a message saying we either wanted the finished glasses or a refund. Only after that did they call to say the glasses were ready. But when we picked them up, the exact same problem was still there.A few days later, when we returned to the shop, the staff immediately told us they already knew the lenses had not been changed and that the problem would still be present. They admitted that the new lenses had arrived, but they never replaced them and gave us the same faulty lenses again. Instead of calling to let us know and apologize, they waited to see if we would notice the mistake. They should have informed us right away. Although we finally received the glasses after pushing repeatedly, the total delay, the multiple mistakes, and the complete lack of accountability made this the worst customer service experience I've had with an optical shop. If a business cannot fulfill a straightforward order or provide updates, the least they can do is communicate honestly or offer a refund.I cannot recommend this shop based on this experience read more

I booked an appointment here last minute since they could get me in first thing after a holiday weekend. I had persistent eye pain and feeling of something was in my eye that I thought may maybe a pterygium (based on my chat gpt research). The front desk and process of booking was super easy and they were so friendly. My review is based on Doctor alone. He was super nice but told me I just had a stye or blocked oil duct. I questioned his diagnosis given I had something on white part of my eye, not the eyelid, but he reassured me that it was just a oil duct and said would go away in a month with warm compression and gave me a pamphlet to read. I felt as if I wasn't heard when left doctor with as pamphlet was about completely different symptoms that I had. I luckily called another doctor in area for second opinion and they did confirm first doctor was wrong and I did in fact have a pterygium. I think overall it's funny that sending a picture to chat gpt did a better diagnosis then the doctor I saw in person here. read more

DO NOT ORDER GLASSES FROM THIS PURVEYOR!!! I have been waiting 6 weeks for my glasses. I called a week ago and they seemed to have no idea what was going on with my order. They said they would "expedite" my order. I asked when I could expect them. They said a week. I went back today. Still no glasses. THey are telling me I cannot cancel the order. I cannot get my money back. Nor can they tell me when I will received them. This is more than $700. I have called the insurance company and filed a complaint and will request a fraud investigation from my credit card company. Unfortunately I did not check reviews before hand. Now I see that many people have had similar experiences. I have been ordering glasses for 60 years of my life and have never had such a slow and terrible experience. Besides the long wait times past my scheduled appointment time, I am very dissatisfied with the care/advice that I received. I am unhappy with my vision and eye strain after my new prescription was filled. Dr. Lam, on a follow up visit, said that this is because my cataracts are quite bad. She told me that they were "350" which is "high". I asked if they were severe enough to have cataract surgery and be covered by Medicare. She said that they were. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME SHE MENTIONED THAT I COULD HAVE CATARACT SURGERY COVERED BY MEDICARE. if I had known this after my first appointment with Dr. Lam, I would not have spent nearly $1,000 on lenses and frames for clear and tinted glasses. If I had known that I could have had cataract surgery, I would have scheduled the surgery - most likely with Eye Associates NW. Now I will find another surgeon to perform the work. I'm very disappointed that I wasn't fully informed about the severity of my cataracts. read more

I'll start by saying that I wish I could give 2 different scores, 1 for the eye doctors and the other for the eyeglass staff. The doctors I've seen for eye exams have been excellent. They have been thorough, professional, and easy to talk to. The opticians in charge of eyeglasses not so much. They are understaffed and chaotic. One time, after my eye exam, I put my name on the sign in sheet. I selected a few frames I was interested in and waited for 45 minutes without being called. It was only after speaking to the clinic receptionist that I was told the optician was just serving whoever happened to walk up to the counter. Then why bother having a sign up sheet? We had a great experience at EAN Northgate this week. My eight year old daughter's glasses broke and she was due for an annual exam, which I had forgotten to schedule. They got us a next day appointment with Dr. Flaherty. My daughter doesn't love visiting doctors' offices so she was a bit nervous. The tech was amazing with her. Patient, accommodating, comforting. She really put my daughter at ease, even for the numbing/dilation drops (her least favorite part). After she was done and had left the exam room, she came back and offered my daughter her choice of a squishy toy and sticker. She said "I feel like you deserve a little something for your bravery." This really reinforced my daughter's courage so she was ready when Dr Flaherty came in. Dr. Flaherty was equally engaging and comforting. Sometimes doctors direct questions to the parents, but Dr. Flaherty asked my daughter all her questions directly, which does so much to build rapport with kids. I could tell my daughter felt seen and heard. After the exam, we went to select frames and my daughter really wanted the same frames she had, which weren't on display. The frames specialist (I think her name was Angelina) noticed that her broken glasses were a brand they carry, so she called the manufacturer to see if they were still available. They were!...and she was able to make a special order for them since they were in stock. THEN, Angelina spent a good amount of time doing an amazing MacGyvery repair job of her glasses so we wouldn't have to re-duct tape them for 8-10 days while we wait for the new glasses. She really went above and beyond and my daughter was so relieved to have glasses that wouldn't fall apart while we waited for new ones. The customer service was simply amazing. Couldn't be happier. I thank the staff for going out of their way to help us. read more

Just like so many other reviewers, I had a horrible experience with Eye Associates Northwest. In order to get ONE contact refill I had to visit the office three times, and I called perhaps more than thirty times. I'm not sure exactly what it is with this place, but no one seems to really know what's going on. They definitely do not answer their phones, I've had a very busy work schedule for the past few months and couldn't always go in person to talk to them. At most offices you could just call and it wouldn't be an issue, but here? Good luck. If you can get a phone call through to the optical department, you are a very lucky individual. When I said more than thirty times above I was not exaggerating. It really is that bad. If they didn't have my prescription on file I would've given up on them sooner. Scheduled for cataract/retina surgery earlier this year. Told me the day before surgery that I had to pay the co-pay that day. $968. Didn't have the money on such short notice. Had to reschedule, then needed another "consult" due to the delay, new surgery date July 2025. Told me I needed a pre-op clearance before surgery. Didn't tell me that had to include an EKG. Said it was "required" - PCP called the Retina Surgery Center who said it is not required, it is "preferred". Talked with the Surgery Coordinator who danced around the issue, then started yelling at me. Hung up, called back main line, they said the Clinic Manager would call. Never called. Surgery Coordinator said she "called in" my post-surgery prescriptions, told her Dr Jamil knows I use Amazon and you can't "call in" a prescription. No response. Totally incompetent and rude Surgery Coordinator. So after 7 months and losing almost all sight in one eye, I'm cancelling surgery and will start all over with another provider. I don't want to experience the billing issues I'm reading about here, and if the surgery process has as many other issues as this clinic has, I don't want them poking around my eye. The high turnover rate among their best docs should be a signal to all of us. read more

Just had my cataract surgery yesterday with Dr. Jeanne Hoyt. She is truly a professional and has been performing these surgeries for many many years. Dr. Hoyt is very friendly and easy to communicate with any questions I may have. She takes time to listen to her patients. I highly recommend Dr. Hoyt if you need an eye doctor. Her team at the Ballard clinic were so nice, kind and helpful ...they were Isabel, Yuki and Robbie...there was another nurse but I forgot her name. All in all, they were wonderful and they ensured I was comfortable and relaxed before my cataract surgery. Thank you very much to Dr. Jeanne Hoyt and her Ballard staff for your hard work and caring attitude. I was so impressed!!! read more

AMAZING LASIK EXPERIENCE with Dr. McKillop BRIEF HISTORY: I started wearing glasses when I was in about first grade. I transitioned to contact lens wear in high school and wore them about 12 hours a day. Though my vision was good with them, the coming and going of discomfort, dryness, possibility of infection, and cost of contact lens were always a burden on me. My current refractive error is about -7.00 and -6.00. EVALUATION: The worst part of the evaluation was having to be out of my contact lens for 2 weeks. But at the same time it was reassuring knowing that Dr. McKillop wanted to get the most accurate measurements for me. I felt like all my questions were all answered and the evaluation felt very thorough. Overall, I felt like I was in good hands. Debbie, the surgery scheduler, was also very patient with me. She was also very patient with me as we tried to find multiple pharmacies so that I could get the best price on my post op drops. DAY OF SURGERY: I was pretty nervous. When I entered the procedure room, the machines looked daunting as well. The procedure was so smooth and of course, painless. After I finished the first part of the procedure, making the flap with the laser, the "worst" was over. But it was so easy, I couldn't believe I was done with the worst part of the procedure. Dr. McKillop calmly explaining each step to me was something that helped a lot, as I wasn't afraid of what was to happen. I was never nervous during the procedure. Each step of the procedure was very short so I never felt strained. AFTER LASER PROCEDURE: There was no pain. I was light sensitive on the way home, but after my nap, I was amazed that my vision was this clear, vision without my contacts! In fact, my vision was so clear and comfortable, I was able to go to work the next day. OTHER: The overall process, from evaluation to the procedure and to the healing as well, went so smoothly and better than I could have expected. I never had any pain during or after the procedure. 1 week post LASIK, I am using artificial tears about 1-3 times a day. Now 2 weeks after LASIK, my vision is remains so clear. I am using artificial tears maybe about once a day. Everyday I am still surprised here and there with my vision. It feels odd to shower and be able to see, or waking up in the morning with clear vision. I cannot recommend this LASIK procedure enough. read more

This was my first visit to Eye Associate Northwest's Northgate location after several good experiences at another location. I would absolutely recommend against patronizing the Northgate location. Check-in was fairly quick and I appreciated their COVID precautions. However, they mishandled my insurance (I didn't realized it under later). The intake tech was just very unpleasant. The visit with the doctor was the only good part of the experience. But I was then over billed and the billing office mishandled my attempts to correct their error. So, of all the customer service touchpoints, this location mishandled all but one. I won't be returning. read more

I dont recommend eye associates northwest with dr. Nathan Wilbanks and surgery coordinator is Hannah Roberts. The receptionist is inept. She tried to give somebody else drivers license and insurance cards to me and i was so scared she lost my id and cards also. The doctor says the surgery will be quick in 20 minutes and when i asked the receptionist where to go for the surgery she said to come to the same place which was not correct. When I came back for the appointment the receptionist said there was no surgery and the appointment was for paperwork. Which was not okay but they didnt have me fill out ANY paperwork and we're probably charging the insurance for the appointment. Instead they scheduled several more appointments without asking me when Im available. Then two to three business days before the surgery the doctor calls and says he cant do it. Thanks alot for wasting my valuable time by having me come in for no reason and then trying to change the surgery date three business days before the surgery. Dont goto Eye Associates northwest, they dont care about your time and the receptionist is inept. Also the the receptionist was training somebody and yelling at the trainee. Dr. Le is great with our daughter her bedside manners, knowledge, and kindness towards our 11 year old is awesome. Dr. Zollman is equally FANTASTIC. I very much appreciate providers that are knowledge compassionate, caring and understanding whether it be for my family or myself. Eye Associates NW loses 1 star for their front office staff and technicians whom lack warmth and kindness, and the other 1 star deduction is for the call center. The call center SUCKS! It is rare to get a kind person over the phone or in person administratively. It is bizarre!! Not being able to contact the provider with questions via the patient portal (so strange how they literally do not respond to patient portal questions) or the provider office via phone is absurd. Healthcare office's that send their calls through a call center is so impersonal and lacks anybody patient care. If there must be a call center for scheduling or questions at the very least hire people who are CAPABLE of performing the job and understand the realm in which they working...the majority of the time nobody has the same answer or they make things up just to not have to find the information. We really do like our providers but the admin staff and some of the technicians really should NOT be working with patients. read more

Dr. Tim Zollerman at Eye Associates Northwest is the worst doctor I have ever met in my entire life! I had the second earliest appointment in the morning and the office was already running 15 minutes late. Then once I did get to a room I had to wait 35 minutes to see the Zollerman. Because he was running behind he only tested my prescription strength. HE DIDN'T EVEN DO AN EYE EXAM. I never looked into a light, he never used the machine to look into my eye. He committed insurance fraud by billing an eye exam to my insurance but never even looked at my eyes. THEN once he did look at my prescription strength he wrote the prescription without my astigmatism on there. I told him it was missing and he said I don't have one in my chart. I had to literally argue with him and have him pull up my last old prescription showing that I had one for him to say "Oh you do have one". I will absolutely never ever ever go to Zollerman again. I paid for an eye exam to not even get examed and write my own prescription. I've had to contact my insurance to file a fraud claim as he never even exams my eyes but my insurance is billing me for one so then my insurance will help cover me to go see a different doctor because I don't trust the prescription he wrote me. read more

The negative reviews were of concern but had a potential emergency and a good friend who went to one of the doctors at this practice spoke highly of her suggested this practice. I was lucky getting a wonderful scheduler and give her 5 stars, she got me in immediately and could not have been nicer and supportive. 5 stars for her. This practice is set up with a buffer so a patient is challenged to actually speak to anyone other than a scheduler. 1 star for accessibility. The young man at the Front office at Northgate could not have been nicer. 5 stars. the young lady who did all the testing prior to seeing the OD was less than personable, not a good communicator when setting me up for one of the eye tests and was bothered by my trying to get clarity on her shy of mediocre instructions. 1 star. The Dr. was very nice and went thru the results of most of the eye testing other than the vision test so 4 stars just due to not being thorough with sharing all the test results. Although I paid my copay required before being seen by anyone, on the way out after the exam, I was not asked if I wanted a copy of chart notes nor was advised to bring sunglasses for the ride home at scheduling or given a pair of eye protection. Another friend of mine who went to an opthamologist in Stanwood, wA not only was asked if she wanted a copy of the chart notes after her exam but gave her eye protection for the ride home. I called their main number to get a copy of my chart notes, got a less than enthusiastic scheduler who told me I need to go into the portal for that info. 1 star for her acting like she was being bothered by the question. read more

I have been on hold several times for over an hour. Stop opening new locations until you can figure out your backend. Hire a consultant to figure out how to make your operation move smoothly. I'll give this business five stars. From reading the other reviews I did not experience any of those issues. I walked in and was checked in immediately. Started to fill out the paper work and was called into the exam room within five minutes. No more then five minutes later in the exam room, my initial eye test are done, drops are applied, and told to wait (also the staff was super nice) Ten minutes later, the doctor shows up and conducts a very thorough exam - also super nice. All in all, one of the better experiences I've had with an eye doctor - will definitely recommend read more

1 star review due to poor customer service. Ordering and receiving was delayed which is understandable considering our current state. What is irritating is the in-office personnel. When I spoke to the rep on the phone about picking up my contacts, I was told to come any time before 5pm. Being blessed to still have a job during this pandemic, I work just until then. Still, I left work early and arrive at the door 10 minutes to 5pm. After banging on the door non-stop for 5 minutes while the rep at the desk sat at her computer with her back to me clearly ignoring me, another associate came from clear across the office. Clearly they could hear me the entire time and assumed I would walk away - lazy. Once she walked over, I told her (through the door as she couldn't be bothered to open it) all I needed was to pick up my contacts. At which time she told me it was impossible as she has "policy and procedures" which kept her from being able to bill me, and had shut down for the day. I understand wanting to get out as soon as possible on a Friday, but change your hours if that's the case. I would recommend having all office staff on the same page, and adhering to hours of operation. I'll certainly be taking my business elsewhere after this experience. read more

This review concerns the eye associates Northwest in Edmonds. I was not able to find them on the Yelp list. Only this one and four more. I am insured by Humana and I was looking for somebody to do my yearly free eye exam and also I had some allergy problems. They did not tell me that since they were ophthalmologist the exam would not be free and now I am saddled with a bill for over $100. Family vision clinic, which I used to go to, was honest enough to tell me that they do not do this exam anymore but this place didn't. I am very very disappointed in them. They did my eye exam twice since they didn't get it right the first time. At least I didn't have to pay for the second time. I do not recommend I associate's for anybody. After 35 years of going to EANW for my eye care, my 2023 regular, annual vision exam has turned into a billing nightmare. Front desk people erroneously told me I could get a 'free, no cost' consult on laser eye surgery and then EANW had the nerve to turn it into a billed appointment without my knowledge or consent. They also waited 6 months to submit my annual vision exam to insurance, and then vision insurance claims it's beyond the submission period so claim denied. Phone calls go to a hold system where one can wait 15-20 minutes to speak with a person, then either it disconnects you, or the person you talk to says they can't help and you should contact someone else. Phone messages and letters are ignored, when I've gone into the office to talk, they all claim 'no one is there' , and it's a mess. It used to be a quality place to get professional eye care, and I'm sure there are some professional, honest, competent people, but they have continued to overbill me and ignore me. read more

This practice, on the whole, fails to care about its patients, and Dr. Hoyt's woeful disrespect of other doctors' opinions does not instill trust. I've visited this facility on several occasions, and the long wait times are unacceptable; often more than an hour delay without explanation. I have tried to remain unperturbed and flexible in the hope that this is not usual practice, but every appointment has been delayed significantly. More worrisome is the fact that Dr. Hoyt lacks compassion and understanding of chronically ill patients who have serious and potentially life-threatening disorders (non-eye related). She neglects to get to know her patients, and so her seemingly friendly demeanor feels condescending and insincere. In fact, at my most recent (and thus final!) appointment, she patronizingly advised that taking a vacation abroad would cure all my medical diagnoses. Perhaps then, I should inform my team of health specialists that their many years of medical school were in vain, and that they should simply tell patients to quit their RX prescriptions in lieu of booking a flight to Sorrento! *Snark* I should add that in case some readers think that I misread her tongue-in-cheek sense of humor, she contemptuously confirmed this statement when I pressed her for clarification. Hence to say, I will not be returning to this facility, and have sought another ophthalmologist in my area - no, not Sorrento! ;-) for my future care. read more

Would not recommend. The doctor was fine, but the office is unorganized and unprofessional. Ordering trial lenses has been a total hassle - I had to wait about a month and finally went into the office to get an update, after waiting 45 minutes they admitted they forgot to order one set of trials, and then gave me the other set. I've since never received the other set of trials. In the meantime, I tried ordering some contacts from the 1st set of trials and both times I've called the office (before 5pm, within business hours), their phone system is going straight to the "after hours" answering system which means I have to remember to call back a third time. After waiting two weeks, I went in yesterday to find out they used an old prescription from over five years ago, not the one I had given them. Now I have to wait another two weeks to get them to get the correct prescription. The salesperson gave off vibes like she didn't care, and was totally detached from my frustration about this. My criteria for choosing Eye Associates NW were that it was close to my home and that they used eye imaging rather than dilation since I have very sensitive eyes. Those two things were true about EANW. However, I waited for almost fifteen minutes on hold to make my initial appointment. The person I spoke with was kind and said he wasn't sure why the Northgate office never seem to answer their phones which keeps customers in a loop between Northgate and the call center for some undetermined amount of time before the call center can answer. There is apparently another number you can use to call the call center directly. Good luck! On the call I requested eye exams, eye imaging, and contact lens appointments for me and my daughter. When we arrived, they had no idea that we needed eye imaging. They also had no idea my daughter needed a contact lens consult. What was the purpose of my call? Both the tech who ran my initial tests and Dr. Ceglia were abrupt and abrasive when interacting with me, especially when I tried to advocate for myself. The tech said, "It's better for you to deal with a couple hours of discomfort than suffer for the rest of your life." Um, how about you express some compassion and calmly explain to me the potential for more intervention? This place is a conveyor belt of eye care and they are in charge and you just need to do as you are told. I will be returning to my previous optometrist who treats me like a human, even though it's a longer drive. read more

This is not a reasonable time to wait. I think I may have to change my provider as well as that of my mother, who is also seen at the Northgate clinic. My complaint is with the current optical department. I am a long term customer and went in to ask how to tighten the ear pieces on my sunglasses. First had to wake up the employee (at 9:30 am). When I first told her the problem her first comment was "you didn't buy them her so I can't help you. She didn't even ask if I had. I told I had about 5 years ago She then said "the warranty is expired I can't help you". I then asked if she could tell me what to do. You do need to have better employee training and respect each of your customer. The staff in Seattle northgate is really rude and lack of knowledge of what they are doing. I don't understand why you can let us know this in advance and why we cannot start from 10:15 and proceed together.
