I was here sometime last year for an eye health checkup and the process and exam went great. I had a followup appointment scheduled for nearly 10 months down the line which felt like forever until this week. Well despite getting multiple reminders both via email and phone leading up to today, I arrived this morning for my scheduled appointment only to find out that my doctor not work there anymore. The front office did reschedule me on the spot, but I made a whole trip out there fighting commuter traffic all for one big nothing. Guess their patient coordination system needs some work because that was a HUGE oversight (update: pun unintended but when I caught it I chuckled). read more

My recent appt to scan for cataracts and glaucoma and to determine if corrective lens were recommended. Melanie was the assistant who did preliminary work. She was quite kind and informed me of what to expect from each procedure. After a 20 minute wait, Dr Do performed some tests and examination and explained some of the results to me. They said another test was needed. But it could not be completed today. I asked if it was because my eyes had been dilated. Dr. Do said no the person who does that test doesn't work on Tuesdays. I expressed my frustration that I was scheduled for a glaucoma exam and one of the people who performs a glaucoma test doesn't work on the day my appt was scheduled. Dr Do quite rudely responded with"What do you want me to do?" Not in an I'm here to help way but in the you are unreasonable and I am annoyed way. Even though it was more than reasonable for me to be frustrated that I would need to come back for a second appt due to this lack of patient consideration in scheduling. I said you could start by not being rude. At which point, Dr. Do very slowly laid one hand in his lap and placed the other on top, leaned forward and as condescendingly as possible said, "She's not here today." At this point, not wanting to be treated in this manner again, I asked if I could see another dr on my return. Dr. Do said yes, grabbed his clipboard, very curtly said go to the front desk and stormed out of the exam room. By the time I gathered my things and walked out into the hallway, Dr. Do was at the reception desk impatiently waving for me to hurry down the hall. Some of the information Dr. Do had provided was confusing to me and some of my questions went unasked because of his abrupt end to my appt. I did call to ask my questions but there was some guesswork involved in the answers I received because I was not talking to a doctor. Maybe I'm wrong, but I expect more respect, maturity and patient concern from a doctor who involved in my care. Maybe the other doctors in your office are more capable of understanding and caring for patients. However, at this point, I do not feel at all comfortable returning to an environment. where I've experienced such an extreme lack of professionalism and consideration. read more

I am deeply disappointed in the care my Dad received from Northwest Eye Surgeons and Dr. Rostov. Despite placing his trust in them for cataract surgery in March 2022, my Dad was met not with compassion or medical excellence, but with indifference, excuses, and substandard results. In March 2022, my Dad underwent cataract surgery with vision correction on both eyes. One eye, however, was left with only 20/40 vision, and both eyes now have numerous black dots that partially block his vision in the outer corners. This was far from the expected outcome, and even Dr. Rostov and her team acknowledged at the time that this result did not meet expectations. But by April 2022, the tone shifted. Dr. Rostov and her team offered explanations that were not only incorrect but astonishingly careless. First, they tried to blame the outcome on diabetes--despite my Dad not being diabetic. It's shocking that such an unfounded excuse would even be suggested. Then, they blamed retinal issues, citing a referral they themselves had made to a retina specialist. This, too, was baseless, as my Dad's retina was confirmed to be healthy. These attempts to deflect responsibility felt dismissive and unprofessional. Between April and September 2022, we pursued every avenue they suggested--multiple follow-ups, eye drops, and laser treatments--but none of it helped. In September, when we tried to schedule the next recommended follow-up, we were suddenly told we'd have to pay out of pocket, despite it being part of the plan to address the ongoing issues. This was incredibly disheartening. In May 2023, we met with Lance Baldwin, the "COO". His response was cold and devoid of empathy. He insisted the outcomes were acceptable and even scoffed when we mentioned reporting to the Washington Medical Commission, implying they had inside connections and had no reason to be concerned. This arrogance was shocking. In June 2024, my Dad sought help through the UW medical network. After thorough evaluations, the doctors concluded that his ongoing problems--black dots and glare--were due to issues with the lens implants themselves, particularly reflections from the edges of the lenses. This confirmed what we had suspected all along. In August 2024, Cookie Dalgado stepped in, offering some hope. But after my Dad declined their proposed terms, they completely ghosted us, despite promising a response by the end of that week. This entire ordeal--from the surgery in March 2022 through the months of follow-ups and attempts to find solutions--has been long, painful, and exhausting. We made countless visits in good faith, always hoping for a resolution. My Dad, who is 80 years old and doesn't speak English, has suffered deeply, both physically and emotionally. For months after the surgery, he couldn't sleep due to discomfort and anxiety over his vision. It is truly heartbreaking to see an elderly man treated this way--dismissed and left to suffer as if he were nothing more than a burden. Northwest Eye Surgeons' handling of my Dad's care has been profoundly disappointing and, frankly, inhumane. read more

I unfortunately need to write about my frustrating experience with Northwest Eye Surgeons. And to say that it begins with a simple phone call just to get an appointment AND to speak to someone in the Seattle office. I have severely poor eyesight; something I have had since I was very young. I regularly get my eyes checks and stay on top of all appointments. Because of my poor eye sight, I am prone to retinal detachment so I am reminded at every visit that if I experience any floaters to contact an eye doctor immediately. This happened last night - what I thought was just a blemish on my contact (which was a new pair) ended up in a floater. I needed to call first thing int he morning to set up an appointment. This is where it went downhill. NW Eyes uses a call center abroad - this is not a bad thing; but it is when you need to get a hold of an actual person IN THE OFFICE. I have been to NW Eyes in the past several times and even my son is a patient there and of course, this was before they changed to a call center to funnel calls. I've never had an unpleasant experience until today. I was told I needed to to go to urgent care or my eye doctor. What I need is a dilated eye exam and a macula OCT, which an ophthalmologist needs to do perform, not someone at urgent care. How do I know this? Because a family member worked at this office for over 20 years and I was referred to this office by them. I asked to speak to Cindy or Toshi in the Seattle clinic and of course the rep on the line said she couldn't take a message. Interesting. She put me on hold and then said she would take my information and have Cindy or Toshi. I also called back and tried to reach the Seattle office only to be told that the line I called in on was not for inquiries like mine (asking to speak to Cindy or Toshi) and was hung up on. In a few minutes, I received a VM from NW Eyes; it was the rep from the overseas call center telling me that i WILL NOT be receiving a phone call form Cindy or Toshi and to follow up with urgent care or my regular eye doctor. WOW. I called anther vision center and I was able to get an appointment TODAY. I understand streamlining business operations and need to a call center to funnel calls, but if you need to get a hold of someone specific in a local office, there should be a way to at least leave a message for someone. It's unfortunate that this experience resulted in a lost patient. For someone with poor vision and serious eye condition that could result in a retinal tear, I would have expected a better experience, even if it's just for an emergency appointment. There are times you need to not go by protocol but use your judgement. This was one of them. Patient beware. read more

PLEASE READ! BEWARE!!! IF I COULD RATE THEM LESS THAN 1 STAR, I CERTAINLY WOULD! Northwest Eye Surgeons has serious patient safety issues! I have been going to Northwest Eye Surgeons to check on my cataracts for almost 2 years, and as part of my history, my LATEX ALLERGY was VERY well documented. Even though I felt that most of the staff was unfriendly and cold, they were recommended to me. Each time I went in, I felt hussled, continually pressuring me with tons of paperwork, wanting me to decide right then on what I wanted. They even went so far as to try to get me to have both eyes done, one two weeks after the other. With my right eye needing to be done, I agreed to surgery. Imagine my surprise when I arrived for my surgery and checked in, and as I was ready to go into my procedure, I reminded them of the latex allergy, to which they seemed unaware. The attendee then told me I had to wait, and about 1/2 an hour later they came out and told me that I would need to talk to their charge nurse. While we were waiting in the waiting room, they wheeled out another patient who had just had surgery, and they did her discharge planning in front of ALL 20 of us. She was in pain and her eye was oozing, and we all got to listen all about her surgery and aftercare. Meantime, more patients came in, all elderly, some with walkers, canes, etc. There were about 11 chairs, and at one point, more than 20 patients standing in various post op and pre op readiness. Now back to me, the charge nurse talked to us and asked me to define what I meant by allergy. Did I understand what an allergy was? I would hope so, as I have been a RN for almost 40 years, and my reply was, I would hope so. And to answer her question, I stop breathing with latex exposure. She then wanted told us that I would not be having surgery until I had a blood test to prove I was latex allergic. Seriously, in ALL my years in healthcare, if a patient tells me they are allergic, I BELIEVE THEM! But the even BIGGER ISSUE IS, why wasn't this caught WAYYYY BEFORE WE SCHEDULED SURGERY! That is healthcare 101! It makes you wonder how many other patients are ignored, discounted, invalidated, when they share their information. How many patients needing help are just not important enough to listen too! This clinic is dangerous!!! They have so many patient safety issues, there is not enough room to share. I felt that they treated patients like they were part of the cattle call, the money line for them. They wanted to get as many people, as they could to make as much money as they could from Medicare or if they were lucky, private insurance. The even bigger issue for me was, if they treated me that way, what happens to older people who are trusting and think that things are being done in their best interest! From what I saw, that was not even a consideration!!!! I had my surgery last month from a private physician, who was AWESOME! I learned that when my gut is telling you there is something not right, believe it. I was so lucky that I did not get my procedure done here. I kept thinking, what if I had the surgery and ended up on a ventilator. read more

The staff anesthesiologist did not give me enough medication for my cataract removal. Three quarters of the way through I was feeling EVERYTHING acutely. I heard my surgeon ask for more anesthesiology and she was told no. In speaking with the surgeon post surgery, she indicated she was quite upset to see me in so much pain. The anesthesiologist never introduced herself, but I heard her referred to as Katy. I have attempted to call the clinic but was directed to an overseas call center. I have still to speak with anyone from the clinic. This is highly unprofessional. read more

I have worn glasses for distance and reading for years. First time in my life I no longer need glasses because of the excellent Doctors at Northwest Eye Surgeons.I had cataracts removed & lenses implanted in my eyes and I now have great vision. Thank you for your great care. read more

Had a great experience with the doctor I saw for my eye issue. She was super knowledgeable and I felt like all my questions were answered. I had an issue with billing (like, months-long), and as others have mentioned, the contact center was useless and frustrating. BUT I walked into their Northgate office and the team there was absolutely incredible, really went out of their way to help me out, and resolved the issue THAT DAY. The eye care team failed to have basic communication with each other about their patients. The failed to inform the patient that high blood pressure may cause a postponement in care / surgery.I was scheduled for surgery and I made arrangement canceling all other appointments and engagements took leave from work and the day of the surgery they tell me that they will not do surgery. This could have been explained to me a month before and I would not have canceled other appointments or would not have taken time off from work. The staff failed basic communication and their office manager was rude and tried to intimidate me by trying to act like he was some tuff guy. The staff suffers from lack of communication and professionalism, they would not answer simple questions and avoided answering altogether because they knew they screwed up. I would not recommend anyone to go there and I would recommend any military veterans not to go there especially the way they treat disabled veterans. I would recommend that the VA stop all contracts procedures with this company-Northeast Eye Surgeons is a terrible company and employees have no professionalism and suffer a lack of communication with each other. read more

The bureaucracy very much exceeded the humanity of the staff. None of the tests were explained to me, as they should have been. Only one staff member out of five asked how I was, and when I said I was scared , he gave no response. While the doctor seemed very knowledgable, about macular degeneration during the quick 5 minutes he spent with me, He spoke so fast, and abrupt it was not a successful exchange. He told me there were some treatments, but not what they were. Be careful to report changes right away as if I got wet MD it must be treated right away to be successful.Im got told nothing of the most tests given or their results. We have gone to @northwest.eye.surgeons since my daughter was a baby to monitor her strabismus. We traveled all the way from Auburn. In March of 2021, she had eye surgery. They monitored her every few months until last year and then she moved to only having to go once a year. Today she was told this would be her last appointment there and she could see a regular optometrist for her annual eye appointments. Dr. Werner Cadera is the most amazing doctor! He is extremely kind and very knowledgeable in his field. I am so thankful her eyes are doing great but we will definitely miss Dr. Cadera and his team! read more

Northwest Eye Surgeons has been the worst medical experience of my life. I'm not a stranger to surgery or doctor's visits. NWS is an impersonal conveyer belt their only concern is fleecing you for money. I was sent on a wild goose chase of doctor's appointments and one ER visit over nothing. I missed the window where my insurance was going to cover everything now they want and additional $1000 plus dollars to do what was covered before they wasted all of December over nothing. The two doctors I had to see over their concerns literally laughed and said they had no idea what they were talking about. The woman who does the anesthesia there is borderline incompetent. She is not aware of basic drug interactions and can't handle anything outside of the norm. They accused me of taking street drugs because they were ignorant about prescription drug interactions and side effects. Some of my medications make me resistant to benzodiazepines. When the sedative didn't have an effect she accused me of using cocaine. I would get phone calls saying there was an issue then another one saying never mind I was reading the wrong email. Apparently medical ethics don't apply to eye surgeons. They literally want thousands of extra dollars to fix your eyes correctly. Meaning the insurance pays for 20/20 but no astigmatism correction. They're putting a soft contact lens in your eyeball. It doesn't cost them anymore to put one in the corrects for astigmatism. It's disgusting. It's completely unethical and they should be ashamed. You don't have to pay an orthopedic surgeon extra, or a heart surgeon extra to fix you correctly. Why do these disgusting people get away with it? Northwest eye surgeons has been the worst experience of my life. I truly recommend going somewhere else there are way better places to go that can keep track of you as a patient are not rude and are not terrifying. I never felt like anyone knew who I was when I was there. I spent over a $1000 going to ER on their advice and the ER doctor laughed when I told him what their anesthesiologist said. He told me nothing (new) was wrong with me and sent me home. They wasted 3 months of my life and my eyes are not fixed. Go elsewhere. read more

I had a great experience with NW Eye Surgeons from start to finish. The doctors there are very caring, and I never felt like they were giving me a sales pitch. In fact, The first doctor recommended I wait 6 months before getting SMILE because she wanted to be 100% sure my corneas were not deteriorating. I was really glad that she didn't want to rush needlessly. I was also offered alternatives to SMILE, and I felt like the pros and cons were clearly explained. The surgery itself could not have gone better. The surgeon explained what was happening at every step, and had excellent bedside manner. The surgery was over in five minutes, and it was done very cleanly, which contributed to a fast and successful recovery. Billing was straight-forward, and not a problem. My only nitpick is the use of a call center for scheduling. Also, when I called the office to reschedule an appointment, the receptionist seemed like she was reading off a script, and was not able to reschedule because that was apparently something the surgical team needed to do. They never called me back. There was also a fair amount of waiting at all appointments, but sadly I've never had a doctor of any kind who was on-time. read more

The surgery went well, but the billing department is a DISASTER. I had surgery done on both eyes. Each time, they assured me at the time of the visit that I had paid in full, but BOTH times, I received future bills. The billing department made all kinds of circular reasoning excuses for this, but it's deceptive about the amount this procedure will cost you! BEWARE! I went through three interviews before NWEYE accepted me as a new patient at Smokey Point. I then had an eye exam for cataract surgery which was quickly scheduled. Prior to surgery, Kathleen, from Mt Vernon, made a pre-op call. She gave bare info, was in a rush and about to hang up when I said, WAIT! I asked if the doctor knew about my chronic eye infection and problems with anesthesia. Her response showed NWEYE only had info from their doctor's one appt. with me. Though they required my prior eye medical history, it appeared they never read, used or integrated it into their treatment plan. I cancelled my surgery. It seemed dangerous to my health. I went to Northwest Eye Surgeons for SMILE surgery in May of 2025. My consultation visit was great. Dr. Yadav was so thorough and friendly and Re did a great job getting all of my measurements and walking me through the details of the procedure. I was able to get my surgery scheduled the next day! Getting my pre-surgery medication was super easy as there is a Pharmacy at the Target in the same building. Then I met with Dr. Banitt who talked with me about the procedure and let me know what to expect. He walked me to the surgery room and got me comfortable on the machine. The SMILE procedure was completely painless and very fast. I had no discomfort. My vision was fuzzy after the procedure and for the next couple of days, and I used eye drops very frequently during this time. I never had any pain or discomfort while I was healing. Within a week my vision was clear and I was 20/20 at my 1 week followup appointment! I wore glasses and contacts for 30 years. I couldn't do anything without them. I love to travel and I was so tired of having to pack glasses, contacts, prescription sunglasses, and regular sunglasses on every trip. Now my eyesight is 20/15 and I wake up with crystal-clear vision every morning! I am so glad I had SMILE at Northwest Eye Surgeons! read more

I am just over a week out from RLE surgery and feel that it was a huge mistake. I went from wearing contacts and seeing distance and mid range perfectly with reading glasses up close - or with no contacts seeing perfectly up close and glasses for distance. I wanted to get rid of the need for both contacts and glasses. After the surgery, my near distance has declined so much that I although I can see distance pretty well, I cannot exist without wearing my reading glasses almost 100% of the time, even to read a computer screen that is not that close. I can't use my phone or read a book without glasses and seeing in less than perfectly bright conditions is much more difficult than before. I went for my second follow up yesterday and hoped to get some assistance or advice and instead felt dismissed and that what I experienced was normal and what I should have expected. This is NOT the impression I got from my first interactions with the surgeon, who suggested that I was getting the best "tri-focal" lens and might only need glasses up close to do things like thread a needle. But that reading, etc. would be ok. (It is NOT ok) Of course, the surgeons don't see you after the surgery and did not bother to call or otherwise follow up after I left yesterday. The provider who did the follow up consult told me that while it is called a tri-focal lens it really is only a bifocal lens. That would have been helpful to know before I scheduled surgery here based on the recommendations of the surgeon. I have now cancelled my second surgery and am looking into finding another group to hopefully use a different brand of lens or offer some other assistance as NW Eye Surgeons didn't have any helpful suggestions. Instead I was told I could go back to my eye doctor and get some trial contacts to see if another type of lens would be something to help my poor outcome. (Did not offer to help me try to talk to my eye doctor even though I couldn't perfectly understand what kind of contact lens I should be asking for. NW Eyes could not offer a prescription or contact lens recommendation.) These things are now out of pocket, so I will have had expensive surgery and now be buying more contacts and new glasses at my expense. Of course finding another provider to replace the lens, should I eventually have to have that will be a huge expense as well. To top this all off, their scheduling and front desk/admins are busy and rude. An employee who was no longer employed there had changed my follow up appointments and I wasn't informed. Not only was I not informed, but I was handed post operative instructions with return visit times that were incorrect. So that when I returned for my check ups (already in a panic over the poor outcome) I was met by a rude receptionist who told me I would need to make another appointment. It was only after I asked that she let the staff know that I was not at fault for showing up at the right time and could they see me, that she agreed to try to talk to them to fit me in. Kept saying it wasn't her fault and blaming it on another employee, but it clearly wasn't my fault either, and after the cost and taking time off work, did not expect to be met with such dismissal. So, my advice is beware. The surgeons sound competent and make great promises but the results and other staff are dismissive, have no with patients sitting for long times in waiting rooms and can't get it together to communicate with patients. (Other calls I had made previously were never returned.) read more

I recently had an unfortunate experience with Northwest eye surgeons. Dr. Cameron, ophthalmologist, was my eye doctor for almost 10 years when I called them to make an appointment with him last year, thinking it might be time for cataract surgery. They had recently moved to Northgate/Target from their other office, and had revised their business practices. One thing that changed was he was no longer seeing patients for intake to cataract surgery, but no one bothered to tell me that. When I arrived for the appointment, I was moved from one technicians office to the next, according to the machines/studies that were necessary. I was on an assembly line, and gave up my will to the process, thinking, surely I would see him/have a conversation with him at some point. But that never happened. (I have talked with office staff since who are certain that I did see him, perhaps because he stepped into a room where I sat behind a machine, looked at my eyes briefly and signed a paper?) Instead I was assigned an optometrist who lacked the experience and knowledge of Dr. Cameron. I could sense that some information was missing, but I couldn't seem to get clarity with this Optometrist. I did see Dr. Cameron for about two seconds in passing in the hallway, where he said something like he would see me at the surgery or maybe never ... I was already on the assembly line for the surgery, thinking I did not want to lose my driving privileges, so it didn't sink in. If I had had one minute with him, I would have asked him what he meant. I think he would've said that my cataracts were borderline, and they hadn't progressed and might never progress, and I might never have to have the surgery. If I had heard that from him, I wouldn't have had the surgery. I want to warn you ... Do not take this surgery lightly. They tell you that cataract surgery is benign ... until right before your surgery when they present you with a list of terrible side effects, including possible blindness. I don't recall if it mentioned that almost half the people who have cataract surgery develop dry eye syndrome. My eyes are in such worse shape now than they were before the surgery, (almost a year ago.) They are still very uncomfortable - feeling contracted and heavy and burning. My eyesight is blurry, and I see shadows. And now I am dependent on eyedrops 24 seven. I tried to make an appointment with Dr. Cameron, but it was not allowed. I'm going to see a different ophthalmologist now. Much better experience. read more

I love the doctors and technicians. This review is only for the front desk. This has to be the worst reception staff I have ever dealt with. You cant understand them. They give you wrong information. They forward you to people that are not there. They do not send messages to the right people. If I didnt like the doctors and great treatment, I would never frequent this business. read more

Wow... after my mom's stroke 4 months ago, I've interacted with over 20 doctors and maybe over 100 CNAs, med techs, PTs, OTs, PACs, etc. This place takes the cake for the worst clinic environment and treatment of patients. The first assistant who took care of intake had her back faced towards me the entire time, and not a single person the entire visit (4 assistants and Dr. Griggs) directly addressed my mom. Yes, she has some comprehension issues, but this seems like basic 101 care. We've previously seen 2 different eye doctors at different clinics and they were both wonderful and did their best to get through to her and did their best to understand the limits of her comprehension. No one I saw today (in my 2 hour + long visit) bothered to figure out whether she had comprehension issues or language issues (I was translating for her most of the time since it's easier, but all her PTs and OTs manage to work with her perfectly well in English). Most of the people I interacted with talked to me as an afterthought, let alone my mom. Everyone else says that this clinic chronically runs late, but we got here at 7am right when they opened, and we still spent about an hour and a half waiting combined with 2 short visits with assistants and then about 10 minutes combined with Dr. Griggs. They also mixed up the scheduling and almost didn't have us listed today (I got up at 6am to bring my mom here!). Dr. Griggs seemed marginally competent even though he seemed eager to leave the room ("hand on the door" attitude). He prescribed a follow up visit, but given the general experience I had, I'm not particularly eager to waste another 2 hours just to get a simple test done. Luckily, my mom probably won't need any more care, but if she did, I would be researching other options. If I had to schedule a surgery, I would 100% get a second opinion and would absolutely not trust this place to do it, given that they can't even get the date straight for an appointment, nor did any single person I interacted with introduce themselves or ask me or my mom what our names were. No one seemed to care and I wouldn't trust them with a simple follow up test, let alone an invasive surgery. Trust the negative reviews, they are all spot on. read more

I was called on a Friday afternoon to cancel a Monday surgery I had planned for two years because someone there didn't look at my well-documented medical records. I've had no explanation. There has been no acknowledgment of my considerable inconvenience and barely any regarding medical concerns involving a previous surgery I had undergone in preparation for the surgery that was cancelled. Moreover, the clinic tried to blame the pre-anesthesia people, who were not at fault. None of this engenders confidence. Go if you want, but remember you're a widget among other widgets. I will say that everyone has been kind, but I am not happy with my SMILE surgery results. At my consultation, they sold me on SMILE vs LASIK because supposedly it's less invasive and has a quicker recovery. No one told me that it's actually normal to continue to see blurry, possibly for weeks with SMILE! I had my surgery 2 weeks ago, and I still can't see well. Everything is blurry and fluctuates every time I blink. It's particularly difficult in the morning. I am so frustrated and depressed about it. I was led to believe I'd be able to drive after a weekend of rest, but 2 weeks later I still need my husband to chauffeur me to follow up appointments. They also seem to be overscheduling people and the wait times keep getting longer and longer to see the doctor. 11/24/21 update: it's been 5.5 weeks since my SMILE procedure. I still had inflammation so I had been put on a stronger steroid drop, but they didn't check my pressure. The pressure in my eyes went up because of prolonged steroid usage, which meant I was seeing even worse last week. So then I was put on a lesser steroid plus one for early glaucoma to lower the pressure (they gave me some samples so I didn'thave to return to the pharmacy right away). They finally seemed to be getting serious about helping me more because I met with the surgeon 5 days ago, then he consulted with another surgeon. They had me come back yesterday to check I'd remained stable. The new surgeon took time out of her cataract surgery day to consult with me and discuss my options. She recommended I get a "wash out" in one eye because it still looked bad. So I went into the surgery center after that and she fit me in for the procedure. It was incredibly uncomfortable and almost painful but brief. After 3 hours from the start of my original appointment time I went home. This morning, I felt ok and my vision seemed similar to yesterday. I had a follow up first thing. The clinic looked really busy but they took me back after waiting only 15 minutes. A brief check of my vision and the competent and matter-of-fact optometrist(?) Kelly went to find the surgeon for me. Bottom line: this place is bringing in too many patients to manage their after care well if something goes wrong. Once it was clear I wasn't going to wait around forever for extra help, they've gone out of their way to be more responsive. My case may be unusual but it's not that uncommon. SMILE recovery can take a few months and they should tell people that. Also, the phone number they give you is just a call service and it's hard to talk to a person and it won't even be a person at this specific clinic. After a terrible experience with another eye clinic/doctor, we went to Northwest Eye Surgeons after being referred for an eye exam by our pediatrician for possible astigmatism. We had a great experience with Dr. Werner Cadera and could not recommend him more strongly. The clinic was well run, adequately staffed, and filled with employees who were friendly and helpful - unlike the other clinic. Dr. Cadera saw us after we waited a short time and did a great job working with my 15 month old. We look forward to seeing him for another assessment in 6 months! read more

I went to this office with severe dry eye redness and pain in my eyes. They prescribed eyedrops that did help with the dry but not with the pain and redness. several visits later the problem was never solved by them when I last called them to let them know my eyes were very red and painful and I was told by my optician there may be a problem with my eyelids they referred me to a specialist in eyelids This specialist Diagnosed my problem. I had an eye infection that he felt had been there for a very long time and that yes there was a problem with my eyelids which he solved oh and by the way these visits were never with an MD but with a technician read more

Very happy with Dr Banitt and Dr Meyers's I had cataract surgery on both eyes and have been doing really well so happy with the results. Both Drs answered all my questions took the time to explain my eye situation. The procedures were efficient, on time incredible how they are able to coordinate everything. Casey the intake coordinator in the surgery department was fantastic she was able to move my surgery an hour earlier so I didn't have to wait. She remembered my name from the previous week visit, very outgoing a great asset to the clinic. I highly recommend NW Eye Surgery. read more

I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes at Northwest Eye Surgeons. Although it is definitely a kind of "assembly line" feeling, the nurses, techs, doctors were all fine and competent. The reason for the just ok rating is the follow up. About a month after my second surgery, one eye became very blurry so I called to make an appointment to have it looked at. They basically refused, saying I should just go see my regular optometrist. This was still within the time period where they were supposed to be providing post-op care. After I pushed and pushed, they finally said they had an appointment available in about two months!! Obviously concerned about the sudden blurriness, I wasn't going to wait for two months, so I did see my regular optometrist (who got me in quickly) and I was diagnosed with a condition that is a fairly common complication of cataract surgery. Not serious, and getting better under the care of my optometrist. I would be reluctant to go back to Northwest Eye Surgeons as I would not trust them to provide the required follow up post surgery if needed. read more

Horrible communication! They make it seem like a surgery is going to happen soon, then you get bogged down by inept staff who dont return calls, and then lie and say they are waiting on my PCM. When i asked my PCM they had received no communication from the Northwest eye surgeons. The only real communication I had was after giving them a one star on a customer satisfaction survey. read more

Nw eyes docs may be ok but the front office and the communiction is horrible. I have waited 2.5 hours during the first appointment for cataract and lens replacement and never did see Dr. Banitt that day.they were supposed to reach out but didnt.they still billed me for the new physician visit. I called to follow up and they were good w scheduling a surgury wo me even seeing the doc. They then sent me an appointmnet for a doc saying "to be sure i could have surgury". I went to that and it was another over 2 hour wait and.see...that doc was a retna specialist..not the doc to do the cataract surgury or talk abot RLE lenses.Luckily Dr Banitt was in that day and saw me.. Then they couldnt even deal with sending the perscrition for the 3 eye drops you need prior to surgury. My surgury is tommorrow and they were to call w a time..its 3 and no call. I called them and found out its at 12:30..really..and i still dont have the drops im to take with me to surgury...oh but dont worry you can forgo your insurance and pay them 150 for drops when u get there if you dont have them.stressful when its eye surgury.. I would never use these guys except they take my Kaiser insurance.i interviewed other places that were way less money for the upgraded lense and more on the ball. read more

I would NOT recommend NW Eye Surgeons. I had cataract surgery with Dr. Cameron on both eyes (dumb me for going back). The assistants and other doctors (especially Dr. Henderson) were great, but the place makes you feel like you are being run through a factory, as you get moved from room to room, person to person... My cornea was scratched on my first eye, which took a long time to heal since I am diabetic. I waited until that eye healed and after seven weeks I went back for eye #2. In this surgery I also got a scratched cornea in addition to a ruptured lens capsule. This meant that I had to get a single focal implant, rather than a range of focus in that eye. After surgery you do not see the surgeon again, you see other doctors who deal with the outcome. I finally requested to see Dr. Cameron, who reluctantly admitted that there had been problems (after my surgery I was just told to take antibiotics, with no explanation of what had occurred). During this appointment with Dr. Cameron, he not only didn't take ownership for my lens capsule rupture, he tried to take out and put in a lens bandage (essentially a contact lens) with no deftness at all. Finally after jabbing away at my eye for 15 minutes trying to get the lens out and back in, I had to request that Dr. Henderson come in and do it (which she did with great dexterity). I am still taking steroids for my second eye, over two months later, and am going to need follow up laser surgery to deal with scar tissue (unclear vision) in my first eye, and I still have no idea how my second eye will turn out, since my vision is still compromised. Now, rather than wearing glasses all the time, I have a pair of readers around my neck so I can see things close up, as well as dark glasses because my eyes have become so sensitive to light. I regret not just getting the cataracts removed and continued to wear glasses, as I would still have both distant and close vision (I just took my glasses off for up-close work). Now I have not very good distant vision and I can not focus closer than six inches even with my readers on... Long rant, but I am NOT happy and will have to pay for another doctor to do follow-up surgery since I do not trust NW Eye Surgeons with my eyes! read more

I had cataract surgery at Northwest Eye Surgeons. For the first surgery, I was in and out in short order being scheduled very early in the day. I had sublingual medication that knocked me out and I didn't even remember meeting the doctor, let alone any of the procedure. It was a positive experience. Unfortunately, my recovery was very uncomfortable for a several days and healing took longer than expected. Now, more than a month out, my vision in that eye feels off and I blink a lot trying to clear the "fog." I was anxious about my second surgery because of the discomfort and prolonged healing time following my this surgery so I'd pushed the second out another couple of weeks to allow my first eye to heal. My second surgery was in the late afternoon. I was called back within 15 minutes of my appointment and prepped for surgery. The woman who was to sedate me informed me they were out of the sublingual medication I'd had previously so I'd be getting an IV and was assured it was just as effective as the sublingual. She said they were very good at detecting discomfort and would adjust the medication accordingly. And then I waited and waited and waited. I was anxious to begin with and it increased with each passing minute for more than 90 minutes. With nothing to do but fend off my disturbing thoughts and the discomfort of being in the chair, I let the nurse know just how uncomfortable and anxious I was on a few occasions. She adjusted my chair and told me to think happy thoughts each time. When I was finally wheeled in, I remember meeting the doctor and asking when I'd be sedated and was told I'd already been sedated. The next thing I remember is my eye being draped and feeling pinching, stretching and clipping of my eye lid. I couldn't talk but remember rapidly moving my foot back and forth hoping they'd notice my distress. That is all I remember but it haunts me. My second eye did not cause any discomfort after the surgery and is healing beautifully, thankfully. But as I said, the experience haunts me. I felt my time and comfort weren't valued during my second surgery appointment. This is the first time in my life that I can remember being awake, sitting in a chair and doing NOTHING for over an hour and a half. Had it been my first surgery, I would not have returned. read more

I was referred here for some redness in my eyes that my primary doctor couldn't identify. My first appointment took 3 hours with most of that time spent in various waiting rooms. When I did see a doctor he was different than who I was scheduled with but he was very pleasant and figured out a possible cause and provided me with a prescription. Came back a week later for a follow-up with him and was in and out within 45-minutes. He wanted me to see a cornea specialist at the clinic though so we scheduled another appointment 3 weeks out. Showed up today for my appointment and after waiting for 30 minutes, someone came out to tell me that that doctor wasn't even in today but could I come back on the 20th of the month. The people at the clinic have all been nice, but they just do not have their act together whatsoever from an operational perspective. Unless you have plenty of free time to waste, or sick hours to take from your job, I would go elsewhere. Likely not a lot of social media complaints as most of the patients there are elderly and have more time. read more

I had a very bad experience at Northwest Eye Surgeons. They had me coming for appointments for months before reccomending a surgery by Dr. To store. During the surgery I could hear her comments that she was having a rough time and that it was the hardest surgery of this type she had ever done. I ended up with very low eye pressure and poor vision in the eye. The clinic then bounced me between other doctors and finally said I couldn't be seen again for four months despite continuing eye difficulty. I do not recommend that anyone should go to this clinic! read more

Drove today in traffic for 1 hour to this office just to be told that I don't have an appointment. When I initially called to schedule my IOL consult, the receptionist didn't even know what that is, even though on their website, it clearly says that that is something they offer. When the receptionist transferred me to another person, that person did confirm that they offered this procedure, and we proceeded to schedule an initial appointment. Mind you, I never received either email or text confirming my appt., but I thought that that's how they do things here. Every time I called them, the phone was answered by staff that was rushed and not professional that just wanted to hang up on you. They do not listen to what you have to say and instead ask you the same question on what you just said. I will not be giving another chance to them and be going somewhere else due to their unprofessionalism, I can not intrust my eyes to these peoples hands because good customer service starts at the front desk. I don't even care to meet their physicians because if they hire such incompetent staff, that says a lot about them. Don't your waste time coming here. You'll be treated just like another number! read more

I went to NW Eye Surgeons for a free consultation about possible Lasik/RLE surgery. Everyone was nice and professional during my visit. But I was not a candidate for Lasik and my insurance would not cover RLE. I opted not to get a procedure. I received a bill for $344 for the consultation. Trying to clear up the billing issue has been frustrating. No one is returning my calls (4 calls and counting). Beware the "complimentary consultation" is not what it seems. read more
