Letter from the school on requesting a transfer
Ms. Apley,
After careful thought and consideration regarding our conversation about Haley's training last week, I have decided that we will not be approving your transfer request to Karate Atlanta Dacula. There are many factors that went into this decision.
First and foremost, this decision was made based off of what will be the best for Haley's training. You expressed concern with having consistent instructors for the school, and I can assure you that I am the consistency you are looking for. Switching schools to yet another instructor would provide to be highly inconsistent for Haley's training. She would have to acclimate to a whole new staff, new classmates, and a new facility- that is the opposite of consistent training.
I cannot speak to how instructors before me ran this school. I cannot say whether each individual decision they made was proactive for this school. We can only look forward to the training I am providing now, and will continue to provide for the years to come.
Regardless of what personal differences you have developed with me, at the end of the day it is not about us, it's about your daughter, my student. I care for each of my students equally and strive to be the best role model and to provide the best leadership for young children. I have a vision for this school and if your family is not on board with the positive environment we are creating, then this is probably not the school for you. From here, I have created two options moving forward for your family:
Option 1:
Haley can continue as a member of Karate Atlanta Hamilton Mill. We would go into this situation with the mutual understanding that this karate school is a positive learning environment. Therefore, negative talk about the instructors, students, or school itself will not be tolerated on the floor or in the parent viewing area. If any further concerns pop up, they will be dealt with in parent-instructor meetings so we can address concerns fully and thoroughly.
Option 2:
I can get special permission to cancel your membership completely. Although, please know that if you choose this option, it will be non-transferrable to any other Karate Atlanta school. That means a new membership will not be accepted at our Dacula location, or any other Karate Atlanta location. This is obviously not the best option for Haley's training, but if differences cannot be put aside, then I will allow you to cancel your membership.
If you have questions, or would like to schedule a one on one meeting with me, please feel free to email back or call the school to set up an appointment. I do ask, however, that you do set a specific appointment time. As you know we get very busy during the day, and I want to make sure I set aside time for you if needed.
Sincerely,
Gabrielle Caster- 5th Degree Black Belt
Manager/Chief Instructor
Karate Atlanta Hamilton Mill
Now since I had a discussion face to face and cannot state I was wrong in one thing I said because the instructor told me I'm no longer welcome or allowed in this school. However I'm sure you still want my money but now I'm looking into legal manors in regards to this and retaliation because I told her this school was a joke. My daughter wants to switch but yet this person is telling me what is best for MY child. Seeing as we've been through at least 16 instructors in 2.25 years. Where 6 have been during the time Ms Caster has been in charge including Ms Haskins and Ms Caster, but that's consistency. Where one had an affair with a student who was also a parent to another student and at least one instructor that babysits another student. I'm not the only parent who has seen this and been through all of this but apparently I'm the one that's targeted when trying to move my student where others have had no issues. This seems very interesting as I said retaliation maybe even discrimination. We've also heard where this instructor has told students they cannot get water until after class. That is a health risk. read more
