Do you offer a free trial class? i've had my daughter in gymnastics in our old area (NY) and loved it. we have not found the right place for her since our move to GA, and would like to 'try before buying'., if possible. Thanks!

We do offer a trial class for $10. That applies to the session tuition when you sign up. Please… Read more

The teachers never…read moreformally introduce themselves, which is why I appreciate that it's a class where parents can stay and watch. Honestly, I'm not even sure if the teachers know the students' names. The final straw was their "Fun Day." Every year, parents are required to pay a fee before finding out which day their child will perform. Once the fee is paid, a date is provided--if enough students sign up. If the assigned date doesn't work for you, you only get half of your money back. That's completely unacceptable! A set schedule with exact dates should be provided at the beginning of the year. Aside from watching my child during class, there are no other opportunities for them to perform, which is disappointing. This year, I decided to voice my concerns. My first email was ignored, and when I called, I was simply told I would receive half of my fee back. At that point, it became clear that this is just a business, not one that prioritizes families or flexibility. In the end, I chose to withdraw. Please note that they responded promptly to my withdrawal request without any questions, reinforcing my belief that their focus is solely on the business. (The email was sent at 3:53 p.m., and by 3:59 p.m., I received a response: "Received! Thank you.") No, thank you! Lizbeth

The coach DOES NOT: 1. Run any type of warm up. 2. Check to see if there are any new/new to level students. 3. Know which stations to set up for the tumblers. 4. Check the form of new students when working on skills new to them. When this was brought to the attention of the office staff, they promised a refund for the entire month of August, that last class of July that never happened, and the registration fee (since we are clearly NEVER coming back here). It took a second phone call to get the fully promised refund.

The owner was so pleasant and welcoming. She let her join the kids in class even though there was only 30 minutes left. My oldest is now 10, he began going at age 2 when they were connected to Great Beginnings. They are now at 211 PIB, FYI. My younger two have gone since they were infants and I think we've had 3-4 of their birthday parties there. The owner & her staff have an amazing ability to connect with the kids & teach them skills while having a blast in an encouraging, safe environment. My boys have also gone to their summer camps & LOVED them, and we've taken them to countless Kids NIght Out events so we could enjoy a dinner/movie. Such a lifesaver if we decided last minute to do something & didn't have a sitter. My kids are now in school full time & several different sports and I now work FT, so we no longer attend classes. I just really appreciate the years they put into teaching my kids & being so caring and attentive. The owner has 4 grown kids and she always told me funny stories, and really understood how crazy & busy my life with 3 little boys was!! Also - 1 time my mom was visiting and had a terrible fall there. She was quite shaken up & very embarrassed. I had an infant in a car seat carrier at the time + a toddler who was there in class. The owner immediately came over to help my mom up, got her ice, offered to call an ambulance, etc....just totally put my mom at ease and that was priceless to me. Thank you so much, Metro Gym!!

Initially, a young teacher showed a lot of interest in our daughter competing in a couple of years, but that teacher suddenly disappeared and afterwards, there seemed no interest in helping my daughter move beyond some of the slower children in her class. We showed up and did the same things over and over and there was no communication about a "path." My son is also a very active and athletically gifted boy and the experience was very similar. In fact, we were back at the facility for another event a couple of months after stopping and one of the owners remarked how strong and athletic my daughter was and my wife and I were like, "Um yeah. Has been. Where were you? Why didn't anyone care when she was enrolled here?" I would also say that we aren't the kind of parents pushing our children to become great athletes and maybe that's part of the issue. We want our kids to be fit and have fun, and they just didn't have "fun" here. At the "awards" ceremony, the session appeared to be any other daily routine and the "awards" at the end were paper certificates and almost no fan fare. When their friends are doing sports and dance and getting trophies and dressing up onstage to a packed house of adoring parents and friends, you've got to make it more interesting than a smattering of parents sitting on the matt while you call out the child's name. I wish them the best, but I have to say that they lost a couple of really good athletes (and a wad of $$) due to a lack of perceived interest on the part of the facility.

We were told that the first one was a trial and we had so much fun with the coach, I can't remember his name but he's awesome. The facility is nice and we had a good time so we said we would come back for the second one and officially sign up. Basically they said that for one month it would be $157 and we would need to sign something and I said okay, that was it. We showed up for 3 of the 4 following weeks and then around Thanksgiving we got super busy and we weren't able to make it for a couple of weeks. I'm thinking, damn well we paid for one class that we didn't go to that sucks but it's not the end of the world. We'll just start back in January when we have more time and start going all 4 weeks every month, no big deal. Fast foward to this week, I check my account as I'm out shopping for the holidays and there's another charge from Amplitude for $157. I call them immediately and get no answer, so I leave a message saying that nobody ever expressed to me that I had signed up for some kind of monthly subscription, I was just told it would be $157 for the month and asked if I could please be refunded. It was before open hours so I figured they'd call me back that night and then I'd explain there was a misunderstanding and no big deal we'd get refunded for December and start back in January. Nobody calls me back so I call the next day, and then the next 3 days after that. Calling and leaving a message every single time. One time a lady answered but told me that she wasn't involved with the office department but she'd have the office person call me right back. So a full WEEK goes by and I finally just got a call this morning at 10:30 AM from Amplitude and I'm thinking finally, someone is going to talk to me about this. Tell me why the first thing I hear from this woman on the phone is that I need to grow up and act like an adult who can read. That I signed a binding legal contract to be charged monthly for a gymnastics class and that in that contract it states that there is a 30-day notice if I want to drop the class or else they have the right to keep charging me until the end of time $157 monthly. NOBODY TOLD ME ANY OF THIS IN TO MY FACE ONE TIME. I understand that it might be in the contract but I am a customer and I trusted the business to give me the full information about the situation and AT AMPLITUDE THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU UNDERSTAND THEIR SYSTEM. The woman that signed me up for the class literally told me "It will be $157 for the full month for both you and your wife, you can sign here and swipe/tap your card." Literally told me nothing else, not that it was a reoccurring payment, not that I needed to let them know BY EMAIL 30 days in advance if I ever plan to stop coming, nothing. I absolutely do not appreciate a local institution doing business this way. This is the kind of thing you would expect from over the phone scam callers and big business corporations trying to trick you into signing up for subscriptions. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the gymnastics class itself or the coaches, but I will not be coming back simply because of the way that this place runs it business and the way that I was treated by the employee on the phone. I have never been told to grow up and act like an adult, or asked if I can read by employee after a WEEK of me trying to get in touch with the business and sort it out. It's absolutely ridiculous and I hope that all of you make sure you read every word of every thing they make you sign here because I PROMISE they're not going to tell you everything you need to know. Absolutely piss poor business and terrible customer service, so rude and so unprofessional. Completely night and day from the respect and intelligence shown by the coaches. I feel bad that the coaches are being represented as a business in such a shotty, unprofessional, and shady way.

At first, it was nice because the instructor was the same each class and they were separated in a different part of the gym. After a few months, the instructor either was reassigned or left and afterward it seemed that a never-ending cycle of subs came and went. The subs didn't know the skill level of the kids and some attempted more advanced things the kids weren't ready for. For instance, my daughter was instructed to do a pullover, got scared, released the bar as the instructor was holding her legs in the air, and fell straight down on her head. I chalked it up to "something that happens" when you're training, but now I know better... beginners aren't ready for certain things. At one point, the class was moved to another area in the gym which required the parents to move to a different viewing area. This area was very dirty and reeked of smelly feet. The floor was so nasty that I wouldn't allow my daughter to walk on it without shoes. The bathrooms were also filthy and they never had paper towels in them. They attempted to spruce things up with fresh paint on the walls, but the floors needed some serious attention. Several parents pulled their kids from the class and new students didn't stay long. The gym seems more focused on competition and doesn't have a desire to develop the next generation of gymnasts. Not impressed.
