We tried this placed based on those rating and came out nothing but disappointment. - chicken karahi - 2.5 stars- garam masala killed the appetite, meat not fully cooked - chicken tikka- after eating half of it, blood on the bones and had to toss it away- Gross - garlic naan- half cooked, no enough yeast, so naan are chewy Mutton karahi- best of all but garam masala will ruin the taste and kill you appetite. Botton line- $ 65 tab for this to take out- not recommended. I must say that staff is very nice and place is very clean!!! read more

Brace yourself for a terribly long wait time. According to them, the food takes 35-40 minutes because it is "ridiculously fresh". I waited over 35 minutes on a single wrap. Would you wait that long for food? And then listen to that? Don't try to justify objectively slow service by claiming your food is fresh and therefore requires an obscene wait time. Initially we weren't sure about our experience here at KC because it started off a little bumpy due to the fact the Karahi ordered didn't taste quite right BUT the level of redemption was above and beyond our expectations! The manager was extremely nice and very concerned about our experience. He sent our karahi back and brought out a fresh batch that tasted exactly how we had expected. On top of that he didn't charge us for anything we ordered despite us insisting to pay and brought out some delicious kheer (must try)! We understand mistakes happen at all businesses but it's how they redeem themselves and Karahi Corner did that perfectly and went beyond. Thank you again for such great customer service!! Karahi Corner - Half order of mutton karahi - Pakistani Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

This place is easy to miss (I passed it twice). Walking in it is evident that the restaurant is fairly new- decor is nonexistent with the exception of two large flat screens and some fun ceiling lights. The food is cooked to order so anticipate a lengthy wait time. The karahi is by far the most authentic I've had since I first tried it in Karachi, PK back in 2007. The chef cooks the food to order- with this type of dish, it makes all the difference in terms of flavor and consistency. We ordered a half chicken karahi and half mutton karahi. The food was served in woks atop woven baskets (seriously loved this). The dishes were garnished with chopped cilantro and ginger. Halfway into the meal I just ate straight from the wok. The mutton was a little chewy for my liking but the flavor was outstanding (read: I scarfed it down). We tried the chicken tikka as well- I was not impressed but my husband (native Karachian) was blown away. The cost of the mutton karahi is a tad steep- priced $2-$3 more than similar dishes on Devon. We ended the meal with chai and although great, was only served half cup which was particularly annoying to me (It's not a courtesy cup of chai, I'm paying $2 it- fill the cup!) It was nice to go to Devon Ave and finally go somewhere new/more modern (but still traditional) rather than the usual spots we go to eat. My family and I ordered the special seekh kabob karahi and the chicken karahi. I know...seekh kabob karahi? Never heard of it right? It was absolutely amazing; the perfect bbq'd seekh kabobs put in their homemade karahi masala and raita. The Chicken karahi reminded me of being back in Pakistan/India. If you are looking for masaledaar Indian food (spicy), this is the place. The menu is really small, just a few dishes but I think they are well-made. Beware though, you might feel the hotness in your tummy afterwords. But nevertheless, the food is fresh and well made. The word 'karahi' refers to the vessel in which the dishes are cooked, it's an Indian wok. They served the dish in one of those vessels of karahi.. New concept. A little more cleanliness around he restaurant would be appreciated and of improved on, could become a popular place for diners. read more

For me, finding taste close to the food I use to enjoy in Karachi is very important. Even though there are many places in Chicago that claim to offer the authentic Pakistani taste, very few of them actually have the product to match these claims. Of these places, if you ask me which one has the best biryani and chicken karahi in the city, my answer will be Karahi Corner. We had to go check out what all the fuss was about so we finally made it out to Devon. We got there at the Caucasian dinner time hoping to miss the crowds which turned out to be a good idea. The ambiance of the place is not all that, they even have some food up chairs and tables to accommodate. The food is actually pretty good (Zantac required). We ordered the chicken Karahi and the Qeema Fry. Both very decent and good portions. The chicken however was extra boney for some reason and was pre-cooked prior to putting it into the Sauce, you could taste the Grilled chicken inside the sauce. My pet peeve is the service so I was happy to see good service. Maybe it was the time of day but the TagHuer watch wearing waiter was extremely nice and accommodating. The food we ordered arrived hot and fresh. It was delicious. Plenty of flavor. Decent sized portions, although much of the menu is designed for a party of four (or half order for two). So if each person wants to order something separate, it's not exactly the best choice. Service is friendly but not particularly attentive, but it could be a bit of there being a language barrier. Or our server might have been very inexperienced. Not sure. Each of the major proteins is represented at least once: beef, chicken, mutton/goat, even one fish (tilapia). The vegetable dish was excellent. Highly recommended. Garlic naan was very good, loaded with fresh bits of the good stuff. Several types of American soda and also Mexican Coke. That was an unexpected bonus. They serve something called Masala fries, but don't be fooled, these are just thin fries like you'll have anywhere else, plus some tasty spices shaken over it and a dipping sauce. Not as exotic as I thought until they arrived; we enjoyed them but I was secretly a little disappointed. Now that you know, you can just enjoy them if you want to have some fries with your meal (or like we did, as an appetizer). I will definitely be back, and I recommend the place, but I couldn't give 4 stars even though the food was great. (I'd rather have great food and subpar service, than have lousy food and impeccable service.) Hopefully they will improve. read more

This place is as good and as authentic as it gets, and I love the down to earth friendly neighborhood feeling! Every dish that I've ever had in this place has been on point! Hands down the best chicken karahi in the entire USA that I have tried so far..our every trip to Chicago always consisted of visiting Sabri nihari but after a friend recommended this place we decided to give it a try ..and I'm so glad that we did....we tried half chicken karahi and chicken biryani the first day..the portion size for half is not big for two adults. the karahi was perfect blend of spices the naans were freshly baked. It was so good that we ended up going back the next day and ordered a full size. The only thing how another reviewer said the chicken was a little tough but overall amazing experience. Definitely highly recommend it. No more going to Sabri ...we found our new favorite while.visiting Chicago..will definitely go back. read more

This review is related to my visit in 5/25/2016. I'm not sure if they went through a major renovation or changes in the menu to have 4 stars on yelp right now.. I love karhai ghost - the concoction of spices and meat always hits the spot for me. Seeing that this restaurant specializes on this dish got me really excited. We got the goat karhai with naan and a side of masala fries. The full order goat karhai was barely enough to feed the both of us. I mean for the portion price, it seemed like a half order than a full one. I could've easily asked the waiter, but my s/o told me otherwise since he not sure what more could be done about that. The actual flavor of the dish lacked that oomf that I always crave in karhai dishes. It seemed like the spices were tamed, and that pretty much makes or breaks an authentic indian dish for me. service was pretty good, but I did not visit this place since my first visit for the overpriced, lackluster flavor. First off I'd like to say that Karahi corner is super nostalgic and delicious. The food there is so amazing, just like Pakistan. The main dishes are Karahi, which have two different meats, either chicken or mutton. The menu is nicely organized and the restaurant is well kept. Staff is amazing, the owners even come and personally talk to you. Food is always amazing, my favorite is the chicken Karahi, cause you cannot go wrong with chicken! The Karahi has a impeccable taste that leaves you drooling for more. I tend to order the naan which they can prepare for you in any way which you please. Generally at the end of the meal they ask if they can give you a dessert, and boy oh boy the dessert is absolutely delicious! Kheer, rice pudding, is absolutely decadent! The lava cake is to die for, creamy dark and milk chocolate cake with ice cream is absolutely delicious! All in all I love Karahi corner, whether if I'm ordering just naan or a whole meal. There are plenty of restaurants claiming they serve karahi, what you end up with is chicken in curry. This restaurant specializes in Karahi (Hence the name) and they live up to it every single time. I usually never write reviews, but this restaurant deserves it. It was the most terrible experiment that can happen with you. To serve you, in this restaurant, no one is in a hurry, everyone is working very slowly. After 10-15 minutes in the restaurant, the waiter still came up to us and brought the menu. After another 7 minutes, he took the order, we ordered a full-sized chicken karahi, because he assured that this portion for 4 people (we were 3 of us). After ordering, he asked if we were sure that we wanted full size, and insisted that we would order half portion because full portion was too large, we said we'll take home if we don't finish it. After 20-25 minutes they brought the order, the portion was very small, not even sufficient for one person. There was practically no meat in the dish itself, it was necessary to suck the bones. We ate an entree in a couple of minutes. I did not fully understand, they deceived us or the portions were really so small. After I went to the cashier to ask if they made a mistake with the order, the cooker said no. I said that we ate it in a couple of minutes, that it could not be for 4 people, after this he said that they put 2 pounds of chicken there! 2 pounds! Maybe that day the scales did not work for them, or they held us for fools. Any adequate person knows how 2 pounds of meat look like. It was 4-5 times smaller. And these bones in a restaurant cost $ 25. For $ 25 in any restaurant, there certainly will be a large portion. We had to order bread and lick the sauce from the plates, because there was no time to wait another 25 minutes for the next order. It is already clear that this is the first and last trip to this restaurant. read more

I didn't want to write a review for this restaurant but I was offended by the manager of that restaurant when he refused to give us a table in the corner. The restaurant was half full and me and my wife didn't want to sit in the middle and ask for a corner table, the combined waiter/manger said he cannot give that table because that is reserve for the family. I said thats enough of this restaurant and we left this place. I will never ever go there again!! There are so many better choices than this restaurant. This manager isn't courteous at all. He lost my business and if keeps continue his behavior he will lose lot more. As they say customer is a king. read more
