From the start, she creates an environment where you feel safe, respected, and genuinely heard. Healthcare can feel intimidating, but with Dr. Chang it feels collaborative and supportive. She is incredibly personable, knowledgeable, intelligent, and professional. She listens first and never minimizes concerns -- no matter how small. When you communicate something to her, she never dismisses or embarrasses you. Instead, she validates what you're experiencing while remaining extremely thorough and evidence-based in her assessments. Her ability to connect symptoms and explain her findings clearly shows deep clinical insight. Dr. Chang is also outstanding in her communication. She explains medical information in a way that's easy to understand without ever talking down to you, encourages questions, and never rushes the appointment. Even though she has many patients, she still makes you feel like a priority. What truly sets her apart is her follow-through. Her follow-ups are consistent and thoughtful -- she actually checks in and closes the loop on care so nothing falls through the cracks. You can tell she genuinely cares about her patients' well-being and takes accountability for their health. Dr. Chang treats you like a person, not a chart. The medical center is on the second floor of the CAPULLI CENTER right across the ENS field. Many students don't know but you pay a health fee every semester and can get check-ups for free (depending on what you need). I came here once because i busted my toe and seriously, i was helped IMMEDIATELY, same day. Dr. Brening is SOOO NICE, caring and such a personable person. It makes me happy because doctors like him are the reason why healthcare thrives. Because he didn't specialize in what i needed done, he took me directly over to Dr. Wessel. He is hilarious and again, SO CARING. God i love these doctors. I am so grateful that they were able to help heal me in such a quick manner. Everything always goes smooth from check in to check out. Follow ups are always clear, and Dr. Brening especially always walks and takes you where you need to go! Such a cool dude who probably surfed when he was younger. Everyone who works here is nice and seems to put themselves in the shoes of students because they were ONCE and student as well and know how hard it may be for students to be away from home. He gets refills done quick when I need them and most of the time I don't have to go into the office to pick up my scrips. One of the few doctors that saves paper and is helpful at finding the most cost effective ways of getting me my medication. Whenever I see him he makes certain that we touched all bases and nothing else can be done with the current visit. After seeing him for nearly 6 or 7 years, I had a life changing event and he takes even more time just to listen and make sure that he is providing the best care possible and by spending the extra minute, he once again will make sure that there isn't anything more he can do to make my life better. Although he does take insurance, he doesn't rush like most doctors to the 6 patients an hour that is required for most doctors accepting insurance. If something requires more time and attention, he will make time to help. He makes me feel comfortable about talking about even the most embarrassing issues and dealing with the situation in the most dignified manner. Finally, when he doesn't know exactly the right treatment he will refer to someone that is more knowledgeable in the field that the ailment requires. We see things the same way about drugs, meaning less is more. He doesn't have that mentality that "there isn't anything my prescription pad cannot cure". It's more of a less drugs is healthier in the long run. Plus, his signage inside every room is great. Check the pictures! So those people "shopping" for doctors this isn't your guy for getting your fix he's a doctor, not a drug pusher/dealer. After enduring several years of inferior care from my previous primary care physician (see my…read morerecent review of Dr. Barbara Denysiak), I had high standards for my new GP, and was not willing to settle again. I found Dr. Benjamin through calling the Sharp general number and told them what part of town I was in and that I wanted a new female GP, and lo and behold, an appointment was made for about a month away. While it was longer than I expected for an initial exam, I had nothing wrong and because this was a general-wellness visit, it was not a huge priority in scheduling. When I came in for that appointment I expected to fill out pages and pages of "getting to know you" medical forms and was only asked for my insurance card, so I assumed her front desk staff had made a huge mistake. When I did meet Dr. Benjamin, I was beyond impressed with her bedside manner, patience and professionalism. She took her time, explained that the reason she does not have me fill out paperwork is because that is her job and she proceeded to ask me the sorts of questions that are usually on those forms, but in a conversational manner that made me forget I was even talking to a doctor. As we talked she jotted down a few notes, then as she was explaining her philosophy of medical care to me, she sat down at the computer in the room and entered the stats she asked about previously. The entire process was quick and seamless, painless and appreciated on my part. She was not quick to diagnose or write me unneeded prescriptions and instead suggested we start at the core of my problems and work from there. What a concept! Each visit with Dr. Benjamin is quick and efficient and I appreciate that she values my time as much as she does her own. She never leaves me waiting, always asks how else she can help and continues to treat me like a human, not a number on a chart. She also referred me to Dr. Tarakjian, the greatest OB/GYN on the planet -- for which I am grateful. These are my first several experiences with Sharp Rees-Stealy and so far, I am impressed. Still, I was dissatisfied enough to ask friends to refer me to another doctor. The reason was that when I went to see Dr. X, I sat in big waiting room, waited for a long time, and then was ushered into one of about a dozen examination rooms where I waited some more. Dr. X and I were just ships passing in the night. I was referred to Dr. Bressler, and at the time I think I was lucky that he accepted me as a patient. What a contrast in the way that he practices medicine. After any examination he meets with you in his office, answers all of your questions and offers advice. During that time you never feel that his attention is devoted to anything but you. In helping you consider decisions he will explain the issue without talking down to you. In our consultations he has referred me to latest published study on a particular treatment. He is extremely personable, jokes a bit, and shows true interest and empathy. The "staff" are themselves are a team of medical professionals who the most helpful and friendly that I have ever encountered. If I need something I can email his office and get a quick response. This is by far the best experience I have had with any physician and I wouldn't change for anything. One more thing, on your first visit say hello to Dr. B's dog, Izzy.

She informed me that I would have to pay for my services in full, before leaving the practice, and it would be my responsibility to submit all charges to the insurance company for reimbursement. Uhh no thanks, that sounds like a headache waiting to happen... That's a shame he had good reviews, but something does not add up here.
