I had another primary care doctor ("Dr. X") for over a decade. Dr. X is still in practice and has…read morean excellent reputation (highly rated on Yelp too!). Still, I was dissatisfied enough to ask friends to refer me to another doctor. The reason was that when I went to see Dr. X, I sat in big waiting room, waited for a long time, and then was ushered into one of about a dozen examination rooms where I waited some more. Dr. X and I were just ships passing in the night. I was referred to Dr. Bressler, and at the time I think I was lucky that he accepted me as a patient. What a contrast in the way that he practices medicine. After any examination he meets with you in his office, answers all of your questions and offers advice. During that time you never feel that his attention is devoted to anything but you. In helping you consider decisions he will explain the issue without talking down to you. In our consultations he has referred me to latest published study on a particular treatment. He is extremely personable, jokes a bit, and shows true interest and empathy. The "staff" are themselves are a team of medical professionals who the most helpful and friendly that I have ever encountered. If I need something I can email his office and get a quick response. This is by far the best experience I have had with any physician and I wouldn't change for anything. One more thing, on your first visit say hello to Dr. B's dog, Izzy.

She informed me that I would have to pay for my services in full, before leaving the practice, and it would be my responsibility to submit all charges to the insurance company for reimbursement. I can't praise him enough for being an incredible physician in a time where so many physicians seem to just rush you out to get as many patients in and out a day. Dr. Scott Upton was recommended to me about 9 years ago from a trusted family friend, and needlessly to say, over the 9 years, I've made sure whatever health insurance I picked let me keep him as the Primary Care Physician for my family and me. Dr. Upton is hands down the best Primary / family doctor I've had in all my years of experience. He is extremely patient, even with a thousand questions (including ignorant questions born from things read online or heard from second hand info). He is extremely knowledgeable, generous and humble in his knowledge-if he is not familiar with something he does not make up answers, but will research and get back to you to share his findings. The Doc is multi-dimensional in his thinking and willing to consider all possibilities, with the focus of providing his patients the best care. Dr. Upton has helped identify serious medical issues that could have been life threatening, and provided calm and a sense of peace when I had a couple potential diagnosis scares that turned out to be nothing. As far as the rest of the staff at the office, they have always been courteous, though there is bound to be some administrative miscommunications from time to time (that happens in any profession be it a drive thru, restaurant, grocery store, etc). I know some people may rate a doctor based on their overall experiences with the office staff and not just the doctor. For me, my focus of this review is on Dr. Upton, because at the end of the day, who I trust with medical care is the priority - and when it comes to that, Dr. Upton sets the standard.

We ended up switching to a wonderful MD and am so very glad we did. It was in his office last week that we found out we had had an annual exam in May according to her records. Neither one of us remember anything like that.. that means we cannot have a real annual check up until next May. She has a lot of great reviews so maybe she just didn't like us. 5 stars for the lab at this location…read more I made an appointment last night via the Scripps login in the MyChart app. Filled out a check-in sheet when I arrived at my appointment time. (There doesn't appear to be anyone sitting at the front desk; they check periodically for the check-in sheets.) I was called back promptly, had my blood drawn and walked out 7 minutes after my arrival. My lab tech was experienced and had no problem accessing my vein (others have said my veins are hard to find). Plenty of free parking. Kind of out of the way location in Mission Valley, east of 163 and north of Friars Road, but not hard to find. I don't think I've ever had such an easy lab experience!

I've tried talking to Patient Advocate dept and they just read off my letter to me on my voicemail but never called me back.
