We arrived on a Saturday around 12 PM, and I was really excited to try this place out again. I ordered a Mimosa flight, only to find out they were already out of champagne ... by noon on a Saturday?! Who runs out of champagne that early? I ended up ordering a hibiscus margarita instead, and honestly, it was amazing. I also ordered the green chicken enchiladas, which were super yummy, filling, and probably my favorite part of the meal. I ordered a second hibiscus margarita, same as the first, but it came on the rocks instead of blended like I had originally requested. We were there for about two hours just enjoying good conversation, food, and drinks, so overall we were having a nice time. Unfortunately, things got frustrating when the checks came. Our waitress didn't seem to know how to split the bill based on who ordered what, which I found odd since we had the same waitress the entire time. We explained how we wanted everything split, and she still got it wrong. In the end, my friend and I had to sit there and figure out all the math ourselves. Then, while we were gathering our things and getting ready to leave, the waitress kept walking around us and looking over at us. It honestly made us feel like we were being watched. When I pulled out cash to leave a tip, she continued looking at the money, almost as if she was watching to see how much I was going to leave. After already paying, it was just really uncomfortable and awkward. I probably wouldn't have left a tip at all based on the service, but I'm not that cold, so I did leave one. I really want to start by saying that our waitress, Gisselle, was doing the best she could under what appeared to be very difficult circumstances. It was a World Cup game day, and she seemed to be responsible for an entire side of the restaurant by herself. The service delays felt more like a management and staffing issue than a reflection of her effort. We were seated at 6:04 PM, and our drink order wasn't taken until 6:32 PM. While I understand restaurants get busy, it seemed like management should have anticipated the increased demand and staffed accordingly. Unfortunately, there were several issues throughout our meal. The chips brought to the table tasted a bit rancid, and the napkins wrapped around our silverware appeared to have some kind of dried residue on them that looked like tamarind paste. I ordered the birria plate, and roughly 40% of the meat was fat, making much of the portion inedible. I also waited over 15 minutes for limes and never received the cilantro I requested. My husband ordered the carnitas plate and was surprised by the appearance of the meat--it was very pale and almost looked like chicken. He said it lacked flavor and was disappointing overall. My parents ordered the molcajete, which arrived without the shrimp that was supposed to be included. At that point, we knew it would likely take another 10-20 minutes to flag someone down, so they decided to just enjoy what was served. They actually said the flavor was quite good despite the missing ingredient. Overall, the experience was highly disappointing, especially considering the long waits and food quality issues. Mad this place is absolutely awesome. It's directly across the street at El Torito. This will be my fourth visit and I gotta say nothing is ever changed. They actually added more to the buffet, which is a little more expensive on Sundays, but man, you won't be disappointed. the food is absolutely amazing and very fresh and the best Mexican buffet I've ever been to I strongly recommend this place again. The prices are a little cheaper on other days but Sunday they pull out all the stops. It is fun for the family safe environment and the customer service is bar on 100%. I've been here before and usually enjoyed it, which is why I chose this place to host my wife's birthday dinner and invite her friends. Party of 5, bill came out to around $400 -- fine. We enjoyed the food, drinks, and company. But the experience completely fell apart after I got home and reviewed the receipt. An 18% automatic gratuity was already added (for a party of 5!!!) -- not clearly explained or pointed out. On top of that, I unknowingly added an additional 15% tip. That means I paid nearly $100 in gratuity for service that was, at best, mediocre. Auto-gratuity isn't the issue. The lack of transparency is. For a group of five, this should be clearly communicated verbally and on the check. Instead, it felt sneaky and careless, especially for what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. What makes this worse is that I didn't catch it at the time because I was enjoying the company and had a few drinks -- which shouldn't be used against the customer. Went in at 9:55pm on a Saturday night, not busy maybe steady. My husband and I sat down was greeted by Gabriel. He brought out our drinks and never came by to take our order. My husband kept saying that we should say something, but I told him no let's see how long it takes for this guy to come back and take our order. We sat there for 25 minutes until the hostess came up to us and said if she can check on her food, but there was nothing to check because he never took our order. She apologized and I had told her we were just going to leave. Mind you, we were watching him and he would be on his phone or be chatting with the bartender. Came to this location for brunch with my family. When my sister bit into her cheese enchilada a rubber band was in the enchilada. Luckily, she did swallow and felt it in her mouth and removed it. We told the manager/owner Alfredo Britho about it and showed him and his response was "that's awkward". He then said he could only give us a free dessert, but brunch includes desserts. Loved the inside and outside of this restaurant. It was amazing with the decorative aspects. The food was all good that we tried and they have a lot of different food to choose from. Tacos, burritos and nachos were the main things that we ordered. All tasted great. The service was good and we were taken care of right away. Are drinks were always full and the food came out quick. Although the food and drinks here are genuinely good, I have to rate this establishment based on the integrity and transparency of its staff. I visited on 3/29/26 around 2 PM for lunch with my daughter and fiancé before heading to Knott's. As I mentioned, the food itself was excellent. The issue arose when we received the bill. My fiancé ordered a burrito and requested to add chorizo, fully expecting to pay the extra charge. However, when the burrito came out, it did not include chorizo. I ordered a combination plate, which offers either two items for $22 or three items for $27. I chose the two-item option and didn't think much of it until the bill arrived. When we reviewed the bill, we noticed that instead of charging for the combination plate, they charged us for two separate full meals (taquitos and enchiladas). On top of that, they also charged us for the added chorizo that we never received. We brought up the chorizo, and they did remove that charge. However, that prompted us to take a closer look at the rest of the receipt. That's when we realized we had been overcharged for the combination plate. When I brought this to the attention of a waitress (who, I should note, was not our original server), she told me they don't have a combination plate on the menu and quickly walked away. We waited for someone to return, but no one did. Since we had already paid and had somewhere to be, we decided to leave. Afterward, I checked their website to confirm whether the combination plate was part of the regular menu or possibly a limited or brunch-only item. It is clearly listed as a regular menu item. This means the waitress gave incorrect information, and at no point did our original server mention that the combination plate was unavailable. Instead, he allowed me to order it and then charged us incorrectly. Because of this lack of honesty and transparency, I'm giving this place a 2-star rating. I strongly encourage anyone dining here to double-check their receipt, as after reading other reviews, this seems to be an ongoing issue at this location. read more

Went here for the first time for the Mother's Day brunch and left without eating. It was overcrowded which was expected but it was very unorganized. We waited an hr to get seated once seated we got in the very long line to get food. Got to the food and all the trays were empty. Yes they were bringing food out but by the time anything we wanted came out it was gone again because we had to get back in the long line. We ended up just leaving and going elsewhere. Hopefully management sees this. Please consider doing this again next year but in 2 sessions. Session one should be 9am-11:30am and the 2nd session should be 12pm-3pm. We started with margaritas--Mi Novia Fresa (strawberry), Dulce de Tamarindo (tamarind), Chamoyada (mango), and El Chupacabras (hibiscus flower). The drinks leaned on the sweeter side, but that's exactly what we were in the mood for. For food, we ordered the Quesabirria Tacos (which were alright), the Tacos Gobernador (better), and the Queso Fundido (the best of the bunch). I came here after work to try out this location, I'm privy to the redondo beach location. I sat at the bar and met Chris, who was a super nice bartender/server. I ordered the Kali burrito which was dahlicious, shrimp was good but the meat was chewy. I appreciated the sauce and plantains on the plate. The ambience is colorful, calm and friendly. A couple of mistakes were made on our bill, but they were quickly corrected. And the men's restroom was rather messy. Otherwise, we really liked the vibe of this place, with Day of the Dead figures spread throughout, pulsing music sung in Spanish piped in overhead, brightly colored walls and chairs, and just a generally very festive atmosphere. The esquite is not worth the price (the serving is great, but the taste is whatever). While the garlic aioli is a welcomed taste, the whole thing was bland. It needed more spice and cheese. It was like they were there as decorations and not main components of an esquite (we made sure to mix it before eating and the garlic aioli overpowered the taste). We can see the details in the architecture but now it's cover with lots of black paint and loud colors. Parking is nice and overall a good size restaurant.
