We hired Larry in July 2023 to redo our patio, steps, retaining wall. A fairly large job. He gave a good price, in the middle of other quotes we received. Nice guy, good crew. But here I am 2 years later, and practically every part of the concrete is cracking. Not just 1 tiny hairline crack, but thin cracks running up and down every section. It's upsetting for the amount of money and time we spent on this project. I get that concrete cracks and that we live in an area (SoCal) prone to alot of ground movement but this is just alarming and frankly, poor work. read more

Larry installed a tongue & grove ceiling, created an indoor/outdoor bar with built-in bbq and a fire pit for me. I honestly cannot believe how great everything turned out. All our poured concrete countertops are amazing. The quality of his work is top notch - very solid and sturdy. I know it will all last a very long time. That was a lot of concrete!!! He also removed and replaced the worn out patio cover posts that had been in existence for years. We hired Kal-Crete to demo and replace our tile-covered concrete patio. The patio has a drain in the middle, which made the job tricky, since the concrete had to be sloped toward the drain from all sides. Larry and his crews did a great job and the finished product is outstanding. The entire project went smoothly from demo to sealing the tile. Excellent contractor! If Yelp would let me, I'd give ten stars. We needed to have an old asphalt driveway replaced with concrete. The owner of Kal-Crete, Larry, did measurements and gave us a quote lower than the other two contractors who submitted bids for the job. The old asphalt had to be broken up, disposed of, the driveway graded and then fitted with rebar before pouring the concrete. The project took 4 1/2 days, and was handled in a professional manner throughout. There were no delays whatsoever (unlike previous contractors we've had). Larry's crew was very responsible and did a GREAT job. Since this was completed in the middle of the coronavirus, I was somewhat apprehensive about the delivery of materials (due to possible shortages and business closures of subcontractors) but everything went off without a hitch. Rebar and concrete both arrived precisely as scheduled. I was impressed! By the way, Larry's crew wore protective masks even though they were working outdoors and had minimal contact with us, the homeowners. read more

We had about 500 SF of stamped concrete added to our patio area and plus additional concrete steps. Larry / Kal Crete matched the stamp of the 17 year old concrete perfectly. The finished product even has better definition of the stamp than the original. Color was an excellent match as well. Work was slowed down due to the backlog with the rains, but they show up on time or at worst the next day. Took a bit longer than planed due to the weather and the crush of other backed up work. Amazing job done on a backyard patio as well as walkways from both gates & a huge pad for a shed. Larry & his team worked my job in between other jobs. They were pretty backed up due to all the rain we had. This was quite a bit of concrete. My job was for a new driveway approach. I called at least 20 different concrete contractors to get quotes. Many didn't answer, the ones that did either didn't do the type of work I needed, or did not call back to give a quote. I'd say I got about 5 different contractors to give me honest quotes. Larry from Kal-Crete Construction gave me by far the best quote, beating his competition by at least 20%. I also appreciated that he was the only contractor who gave me a written quote, and sent it by mail. After talking to the city permits department, I was told there would be a few extra steps that needed to be done, but Larry was awesome enough to still continue with the job at the original agreed price. He was able to work with the city inspector to get the job done right the first time. He left the work site clean and neat. I also appreciated that he was easy to work with as far as payment. He takes half up front to get the job started, and half when the job is finished. All in all I am very happy with the work that Larry did. Extremely poor and unacceptable workmanship on new concrete driveway. After demolishing old driveway and pouring in new driveway, he had to come back because he had messed up. The driveway's color was fading two weeks after it was done and a month or so later, pieces were breaking. He attempted three times to fix the mess he had done and was still not able to. Would not show up as promised, would not answer or return calls or texts. We had to keep calling over a period of 8 months to get him to return and try to fix the mess. After the third attempt, he promised to return in a week to try to fix it again because the driveway was now peeling off all over the place, but he never showed up and never returned calls. We have filed a complaint with Contractors Licensing Board. He poured in the new driveway in September 2016 and as of now (January 2018), we are still dealing with this issue. We got opinion from two other companies, and they both stated that the initial job done was Mickey Mouse, and all the later attempts to fix the mess were just band-aids. read more
