I'm always on the hunt for a solid BBQ spot, and today I found one. Smokin & Tippin BBQ is a food…read moretruck parked in a lot near Walmart on McHenry (around 3848 McHenry Ave). They've got two picnic tables under tents and a small parking lot (about 10-12 spots), plus plenty of additional parking just across the street within easy walking distance. I ordered the 2-meat combo ($25) with brisket and ribs, choosing collard greens and baked beans for my sides. My wife ordered the tri-tip sandwich with yams and baked beans. They were cool enough to sell me a 1-meat plate instead of forcing the combo, which saved me a few bucks--and I appreciated that. There's a $1 credit card fee, which didn't bother me at all. My wife loved her meal and said it was a lot of food and everything tasted great. My brisket had a nice bark and a legit smoke ring. The ribs were tender and fell right off the bone. The baked beans were solid, but the collard greens really stood out--some of the best I've had at a restaurant. Prices are average for BBQ, portions are generous, and I had enough left over for dinner later. You can tell this is real BBQ--they've got a huge BBQ pit smoking meats, and it shows in the flavor. The BBQ sauce was very good. The two guys working inside were friendly, answered all my questions, and made ordering easy. Highly recommend. I'll definitely be back.

Every single item was on point and tasted like a million bucks. If y'all remember Dickies BBQ Spicy Sauce, this is the new place for BBQ, could drink this stuff. Had a nice little bench outside to sit and enjoy the fresh air and fresh food, will definitely be back. Always catching. Whiff of this place to and from Stan State, most definitely worth a try or twelve!

Best at brisket!…read more This is an order at the window and eat on the patio place. This is perfect Central Valley Charm and top notch service. Nice theme and decor. Come early or you get stuck in the heat. Orrrrr you end up not getting anything. The hours of operation are hard to nail down. Basically show up at 11 or you might not get food. Also days are the end of the week. The Brisket Sandwich - If this was the only thing I ordered this bbq would have been a 7 out of 5 stars. Hands down the best brisket I've ever had. Cowboy Corn - good corn, kinda like elote. I could have eaten it with chips. Needs a little more spice. Corn bread - warm and delicious. We got an edge. Ooohhh ahhhh. A little crisped. Definitely should be served with butter and honey though. Combo - Chicken - good seasoning, better with the sauce. Pulled pork - not salted. Definitely needs sauce when you enjoy. Mac and cheese - muah. Chef kiss. I'm not a big fan of mac and this stuff had me tempted to take it all for myself. Potato salad - excellent flavor good care. Red potatoes. Cooked to perfection. They definitely need to be cut into a little smaller pieces and boiled with a little saltier water. They were large bites that the dressing couldn't get all the way around. BBQ Sauce - I loved it. Thought it was great. With that being said I need to acknowledge it was spicy. My wife was on the edge and I would serve it to the kids. I'll be back!

The second time, we were in Turlock and decided to order ahead for pickup. We got two tri-tip sandwiches with a side of mac and cheese, and it was the perfect amount for our family of four. My kids loved it -- my son was actually obsessed with the tri-tip! Next time, I might just get him his own plate. Both times, the service was friendly and quick. It's definitely a spot worth checking out. Just a little tip -- sometimes the card reader can be finicky, so it's handy to have some cash. Super family-friendly place, and we absolutely love it!

While everything was decent, our tri-tip was fairly dry, and I didn't find anything special enough to want to drive back out right away. We went on a night with music, and it was pretty packed. Adults, people with little kids, people drinking booze they brought from home, etc. Beers were $1 and $1.50 a can, so I'm guessing that's a huge draw. I do appreciate being able to throw them back without breaking the bank. The band was 3 guys who sorta/kinda knew which keys to play in, but again, not worth the drive. Make sure to wear a LOT of bug spray, consider carpooling with a DD to make parking easier, and plan your bathroom trips early since there is only one sad unisex bathroom inside, and a port-a-potty outside.
