Kainan au Gusto never fails to transport me back to my grandmother's home in the province where I would play around in the garage that occupied the whole ground floor. The typical pre-World War II Filipino houses were designed to have the living areas on the upper floors while the ground floor functioned as garage, bodega, or reception area.
And that's why I like this carinderia in Pasig. It has all the look and feel of an old garage converted into a diner. I could stay for hours at Kainan au Gusto, reminiscing the good old non-urban days.
