The first morning I had silog with tamarind chicken and pork asada, and lots of crispy Danggit! The congee was amazing! U added every topping possible plus fresh calamansi juice! Also had lychee chia pudding one morning and blueberry the next. The lycée was absolutely delicious! We consumed heaps of the most delicious dragon fruit. Now onto the pastries!! One morning they had bread and butter pudding squares and the other morning they had taisan bread. Both were so scrumptious!! Our server Harven was a delight! Friendly, got us warm milk, and answered my 6 million questions! We also took pictures in the back patio that overlooked Laguna de Bay. Beautiful views in every direction. They also had pineapple and mango jam! New jam flavors to me that were delicious on my cream cheese filled French toast. My husband also tries the miso ramen and the fresh salad with a great sesame dressing. In other words, we ate everything, everyone was so friendly and the views are incredible.

Though it operates as a rooftop bar and restaurant, they also offer buffet breakfast for in-house guests. FOOD: 3/5 The overall food selection was quite limited, primarily a mix of Filipino, American, Chinese and other International dishes. The food was decent but could have been better overall. SERVICE: 5/5 I noticed that most of the servers were male while a few female staff at the food counter. Regardless, all of them were attentive, polite, and efficient. AMBIANCE: 4/5 Being at the rooftop, the restaurant provides a full view of the city. I can only imagine how much more stunning these views at night with the city lights. It also features a mini pool - not for use but aesthetically for decor which I believe needs a little polishing and renovation. Overall, the buffet breakfast at The Nest did its job - it fill us up in the morning, though I wished there was a wider selection. And I take my hats off to the staff at The Nest - their service were on point!

My friends planned a "South Saturday lunch" so that we can hang out in my neck of the woods instead of going all the way to Makati to hangout. Luckily I got a table immediately before the crowds arrived and a queue was formed. We ordered the following to share: 1. Tokwa't (Tofu) and Baboy (Pork) - we all enjoyed this appetizer that we ordered more fried tofu. The sauce was tangy and sweet while the tofu was cooked really well, crisp outside and soft inside. The pork was tasty and crispy as well. Loved the flavours and the textures in this dish 2. Crab fat pasta with crab cakes - the pasta wasn't too overpowering but you can def taste the crab fat. The crab cakes were made with real crab and they didn't scrimp on it. Great dish! 3. Sinigang paella and pork belly - one of their most popular dishes at Neil's Kitchen (we actually ordered two!). The sinigang in the paella was a great way to do a different take to sinigang and the pork belly was delicious. 4. Kare-kare with bagoong rice - kare kare was great with the distinct peanut taste and loved the veggies too. The bagoong rice was a nice accompaniment to the dish. Overall, I'm glad I finally tried Neil's Kitchen and next time I want to try their desserts.

But on special occasions, we do try to be a little more adventurous and swanky than our usual laidback buffalo wings, nachos and milk tea dates. So on one of those special occasions, we went to Bamba. The one thing I noticed about this place is how unassuming it is. Their servers are polite and attentive, even if we came in 30 minutes before closing time. Food is served quickly despite the effort that was put in the cooking and preparation. I traded my buffalo wings for their Mushroom Ravioli and I was not disappointed. Each bite was oozing with flavor that it's impossible not to savor it. Hubby ordered the lamb adobo. On his first bite, he said it was too salty. But later on he said it was just right and that the lamb was rid of it's usual pungent smell (I think they call it maanggo in Tagalog). One thing I realized though is that I'm not a fan of those half-baked cookie desserts. The Pizookie was over-rated in my opinion, but well, that's just me. I'll keep in mind to order a different dessert next time. When another special occasion comes up that's worthy of a Bamba Bistro dinner. P.S. Another thing I liked about the place was they have this funny sign board that said something like, "Don't ask us the WiFi password. Talk to each other." That's something to think about for their diners. Enjoy good food with good company.

Our definite, must-order list consists of the Huevos Flamencos, French Fries Moderne, Le Cochon Sliders, and their goodness-gracious-this-is-incredible Pizzookie. My personal favorites would have to be the fries and the pizzookie though. I never thought French fries would go well with honey and real cheese (versus the store-bought artificially flavored ones), and the rosemary just seals the deal with its mild-yet-enticing aroma. The Pizzookie on the other hand is just a perfect contrast of sweet and salty, and hot and cold, which never fails to give me a warm, cozy feeling and a natural (sugar) high at the same time. So obviously, if I was to go alone (which I would probably do), I'll just have the French Fries Moderne and the Pizzookie for the wonderful contrasts in taste, and finish off with a glass of their oh-so-genius beer and calamansi concoction - the beergarita.

Even if it's a bit of arts and culture you're craving, BF's got you covered, too. Artists Haven Gallery and Cafe is along Aguirre Avenue, the subdivisions' main road known also as a foodie destination in itself. From the outside it does seem really small, like what might be just another gallery.. perhaps a room and some paintings. Little did I know that it's truly like a "haven" for artists--spacious and beautifully designed interiors, a well-curated collection of paintings and sculptures, and they have a cafe too! It's a place that anyone would really be inspired to create in, or if you'd simply want to forget that you're in BF for a while, this is the place to go to "rejuvenate" your soul... or something. They also offer art workshops for kids and adults, too! If you're not much into the arts, don't walk away, they have a charming cafe for you. The dishes are named after painters! Though for vegetarians/vegans, there are only a few veggie options: just soups and salads, for which you'd have to still request to remove ingredients X, Y and Z from, just ask). I tried one of their best sellers, Crispy Suman con Tsokolate (you can request for dairy to be omitted), which is a good choice for a light merienda. I was able to chat with the owner of a place, and news is that they're coming up with regular events that involve live music and wine!

This kind of experience is what the Original Dampa market offers for those who want to enjoy good food without hurting their pockets too much. The original dampa market is a compound with different stalls/restaurants offering basically the same kind of food for customers. It's a place where you can make "paluto" whatever you just bought at the conjoining wet market. You have an option to buy from the wet market whatever you wish to eat (which can get your a lower cost) or ask the staff from the restaurant to buy (but of course this will have a slight markup on the cost). I suggest you go for option A at least once just for the experience of getting to haggle with the vendors to give you a lower price. One place I have tried is called Jagz, which is the 3rd restaurant to your right as soon as you enter the compound. We bought from the wet market ourselves the following: Pork Liempo, Shrimps and Mussels and had it cooked right away in the restaurant. While waiting for the food to be cooked, cracker nuts were offered to us as appetizers. We opted for the Pork Liempo to be grilled, our shrimp to be tossed in garlic and butter (my ultimate fave!) and the mussels baked in garlic, butter and cheese. The buttered shrimp was super good, especially if you got big shrimps from the market. It had just the right amount of flavour! I got to eat about half of this! Hahaha. The baked mussels were also good as a generous amount of cheese was placed on top! Having baked mussels in the Metro can be a challenge since not a lot of restos offer these. The grilled pork liempo was perfectly grilled as well! I definitely enjoyed my trip here! For drinks, they have sodas in can, juice in can and bottle and for the big families, they also have 1.5 L bottle of sodas. The place is airconditioned with 2 tv sets, both with cable so you can also watch while eating. Beer is also available and you can also bring in your own hard drinks, although you need to pay a corkage fee. If you want to belt out a couple of songs, a karaoke machine is also available. Parking is also available just in front of the restaurant though during weekends, this might be a problem. Budget is around Php 1,000 - Php 1,500 for 2 (depends on the quantity of the food you will buy in the market) as this will also be the basis on the charge of their "paluto".

OK, it's been a while since I've had some decent sushi and I was craving for some "good ass" sushi,…read moreFound It! Now, comparably speaking, I would have to say one of the better sushi places I've been to. I stumbled upon this place on yelp as I happened to go to another Japanese restaurant that was closed partially because I didn't look for their hours before going and partially because their hours we not listed on yelp yet, boo. What I did stumble upon was a photo... of Foie Gras sushi, which 1) I heart Foie Gras and 2) was reminiscent of my time in Hawaii when I was able to enjoy foie gras sushi my first time ever. Soooooo Off We GO to the new Sensei Sushi! Quite possibly one of the better decisions we will make this weekend in regards to cuisine. Service was good, but I did notice a drop off as the place got more and more busy with customers. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The server kept recommending things, which was good and bad, as in my opinion if I wanted some recommendations, I would simply ask and I've been to more than my share of sushi joints and usually know what to order. Nonetheless, overall very helpful. As for the food. One word, Yummy comes to mind, delicious, tasty, fresh-er than most places. OK, that's 7. I usually don't order cooked food at a sushi place, so my review is a mix of their raw and cooked menu. Seared Chutoro Sushi: Well prepared, well cut, not the absolute best part of the tuna belly compared to Otoro, but certainly a delicious treat! Chutoro Sushi: same as above, delicious, very satisfying for those who love that fatty goodness tuna belly has to offer. Foie gras Sushi: great cut, larger than most places I've had this similar dish. Seared perfectly, in my opinion. NOT burnt like most places here in the PH that over sear their foie gras, including Antonio's. MUST TRY! Amaebi: Looked and tasted very fresh. Color was gorgeous and sweet as it should be. Not too much wasabi to spoil it, perfectly balanced in my opinion. Oh! and they deep fry the heads so they can be eaten! Proper! Japanese Uni Sashimi: Color was much better than almost every place I've been in the PH. Looked and tasted fresh-er than most, there was 1 small brownish piece at the bottom, but overlooked it because at most other places, all the pieces are brown. Snaps for the nice yellow Uni to Sensei Sushi! Color wasn't eye popping yellow as it would be when super fresh, yet I'll take it over so many others in Metro Manila. Fish Tacos: Actually quite scrumptious. I wasn't prepared to have good fish tacos, but I saw them on the menu and couldn't resist. They were delicious. Ikura Sushi: A bit disappointed, color was a bit dark and wasn't super fresh, however, that's simply an opinion. I DO KNOW, there are many different grades of ikura, I'm just used to the bright orange color with more of a traditional salted caviar taste, this one just tasted like there was something else I wasn't familiar with. Seared Salmon Belly Suhsi: Another treat I was not expecting. I wasn't expecting a salmon belly so fatty similarly to their chutoro. Overall, very good. Tuna Dynamite Roll: For a roll, quite good. A nice filler, taste was on point with what you would expect in a more than decent roll. I forget the name of the last dish: it was thin strips of beef with chopped foie gras and uni. Quite honestly my first attempt at this dish was head on, meat, foie gras, uni. So sorry not quite what I had expected. THEN however, I deconstructed it, Uni by itself, which the uni on this dish we're I think local, was a bit fishy. BUT then, the foie gras and steak alone, darn it if that wasn't reminiscent to a filet topped with seared foie gras from Central Park Bistro in San Francisco! All that was missing was a perfectly balanced '12 Opus One red to cap it off. Overall: with the exceptions above... I will be back for more! A la cuisine! Stay Hungry My Friends
