We went with a pretty large group that took up four tables so we had four different iPads for ordering. As typical, quite a lot of items were forgotten (meaning never delivered to our table) so we re-ordered those. Some items showed up much later... Salmon and tuna nigiri were plain this time... We've learned our lesson - don't visit Kahori with a large group. Too many items end up missing in action, everything's placed on the same plates for sharing, and sometimes the waiting after ordering is quite long. READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO! Beware. Eat at your own risk, but I would recommend going somewhere (anywhere) else. When you walk in, the room is clean and looks nicely decorated. The hostess brings an iPad over and explains how to order. 'Order as much as you want, but no leftovers.' Ok. So I can't take any food home, right? Wrong. They will charge you for any food you do not eat! On top of what they charge you for the food in the first place! I'm all for not wasting food, but this feels like a scam for several reasons. Reasons this feels like a scam: 1. The sushi is 90% rice. Nigiri, huge rice ball topped with mushy fish. Rolls, way too much rice wrapped around mushy fish with brown avocado, mayonnaise and dried out out imitation crab meat. Topped with discolored tuna. Tasted as bad as it looked. 2. Gyoza. This was a fundamental nightmare. Undercooked, swimming in oil, falling apart and completely lacking in texture. 3. Tempura. Neither the shrimp nor the vegetables were coated in an actual tempura batter. The shrimp were coated in panko breadcrumbs and the veggies were battered in something thick and heavy. Tempura should be light & crispy. Not swimming in oil, heavy and dark dark brown. ~Remember....no leftovers!~ 4. Shrimp. Poopy poopy shrimp. See my picture for proof. And mushy. No texture whatsoever. Disgusting. 5. Egg rolls and spring rolls. Burnt on the outside, more weird tasting filling and undercooked dough on the inside. 6. Beef noodle soup. Ramen noodles like from the package overcooked to the point of disintegration, making the broth cloudy and starchy. I couldn't pick the noodles up with chopsticks because they kept getting smushed. Beef was chewy and slimy. Another nightmare of cooking techniques. Whoever runs the kitchen is doing not just a bad job, but the worst job. There were so many fundamental screw ups with this meal that I'm shocked this place is still open. When we decided to pay, the hostess came back, looked at the table and said 'oh, we charge for the leftovers.' What?!? No. I told her why we didn't eat the nasty food and she told us we should have told them before we got ready to pay. She said: 'I TOLD you no leftovers!' I told her it was clearly not our fault the food was bad and we COULDN'T eat it. Pointed out all the problems and she told us to just go, it was okay. 'But next time, tell us sooner.' I love a challenge. Especially a challenge involving food. The Kahori Challenge: you can order five plates from their menu, up to ten rounds, but you have to eat everything in front of you, or you pay the cost of the plate that remains. Here is my Kahori Challenge game plan: Step one: Starve myself all day, basically existing on water and crackers, until it's time to go eat. Step two: Prior to leaving the house, get into my most forgiving pants...leggings or jeggings with a super loose sweater, flowy dress...this is not a place to go on a first date, do not try to look sexy. Step three: Ensure plans are with people who (a) can talk and eat at the same speed as me and (b) come to play...I don't want to feel like a piglet all by myself. Step four: Be prepared to either choke down the EXCESSIVE amount of rice used in the sushi rolls provided here. Step five: Order filler plates of seaweed salad, fried shrimp and meat skewers to supplement rice-laden sushi. Step six: Go really, really, really fast. Thus far, the furthest round I have made it is five out of ten...and the fifth was just ice cream for dessert. But one day...one day...I will succeed. read more

READ THIS BEFORE YOU EAT HERE!!! I would recommend you not give your hard earned money to this establishment. My wife and I stopped here for dinner. It will go down as one of our worst stops ever. If there was a Negative One Star Rating this place would get it from me. The waitress/hostess explained the menu pretty well. Then she mentioned, "no leftovers"; my wife and I took this to mean you could not take left overs home, AKA no doggie bag, AKA no "to go" box. We were way off...more on that after my review of the food. The sushi rolls were huge. Because they were 3/4 rice and 1/4 veggie, fish, seafood, etc. Thus they lacked flavor. None of the rolls were great. Most were under-whelming. All were bland and lacked freshness. Therefore, we didn't finish everything we ordered in our first round/order. We had about four pieces of sushi that we just weren't willing to finish. These are called "Leftovers" here. To us this is called trash...no way we could eat it (And we hate wasting food). So we moved to round 2. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and go with some warm items. Gyoza was undercooked and greasy/slimy. The fried rolls were just meh. The chicken wings were edible...but I wouldn't go back for more. Then came the Tempura Shrimp. Fried Shrimp is NOT Tempura Shrimp...but here they seem to think they are one of the same. I bit into the shrimp to find it mushy inside. So I spit out the first chunk to find the shrimp entrails of poop looking at me. The shrimp hadn't been cleaned. There was a long dark line of shrimp waste. It was so bad my wife took a picture of it. At that point we checked our bill and ask for our check. The waitress came over and saw all of our uneaten food...or errrr inedible food and told us "No leftovers...we charge for leftovers." I was floored. So let me get this straight. You charge us to eat the all you can eat menu. And you give us bad food throughout. Then you also want to up charge us for not being able to eat the bad food!?!? That is the epitome of a Self Licking Ice Cream Cone! You charge me for bad service and then you add a charge because I can't handle your bad service. Is that even legal?!?! Of course we did not let them charge us twice for the horrible meal. And they will not get a chance at us again. This place started off good, we went for girls night tonight. We order like 3 rounds, the 3rd of lamb chops were very dry and old and of course we ate it because we would have to pay. We ordered drinks I had a nice cold beer. After a couple of sips I found a bug and asked if they could exchange for a new drink. Well that didn't go well, the manager told me that it wasn't their fault, and that I would be charged for it. Trust me she was serious about it, like here goes a tall glass of beer with a bug in it, and oh it's not our fault. Bad customer service and I'm sure they just laughed and talked about us in their language. The sushi really isn't worth it, trust I've had way better. Kahori is the place to go when you are hungry for sushi and some fried food as well. We went there one evening when I was craving sushi. I really don't care whether it is from the fish market in Tokyo or from a Japanese restaurant owned by non-Japanese in downtown Denver. I like sushi. Sure, I can tell the difference between the one I had in Tokyo or many places in Japan, and one from a place far from Japan. But, in the end, it's about who I am with, how I feel and how the service was. We went there twice so far. The first time, it was so much fun to order via an iPad. My boyfriend has been here before, but he has never been for dinner. So it was fun for both of us. Of course I was telling him about my time in Asia, how to properly eat nigiri sushi, what takoyaki tastes like, the taste difference between Sapporo beer and Asahi, bottled and draft, etc. We would usually order drinks first, then nigiri sushi as well as some rolls. I am allergic to cucumber, so no rolls for me. While eating the first round, we would order the second round which usually are filled with fried food, including takoyaki and some edamame (if we don't go over 10 items). The most we have ever eaten was round 6. And it was mostly me. Yes, I would definitely take my brother-in-law who is from Busan, the biggest port city in Korea, close to Japan, who loves sushi and sashimi just as much as a regular Japanese guy. read more

I was surprised to find a Japanese restaurant in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Not only that, it was an all you can eat place. The place was a little hard to find, and we had to park at the mall since street parking was hard to come by due to all the construction. The best bet is to come here really hungry to get your moneys worth. Pros: A wide selection of Asian fusion/western to choose from that was ordered via IPAD and delivered to you via rounds. Beer was nominally priced. Clean and well organized Cons: Do not order anything raw. The sushi wasn't fresh and appeared grey at times. You must complete a round before you can order more. If you want good sushi and want to be full from a meal I highly recommend this restraint. It's about 20€ per person, you can pick five dishes per person and you have up to ten rounds. I myself cannot make it past four. The sushi is fresh just make sure you eat it all. It says on the menu what you are charged for wasting food. 1€ per sushi and 2€ per hot plate. (You can hide it... Haha that's what I do if I can't finish some. First time there and it was a horrible experience. They took more than an hour to bring out our food so we were there for a total of 3 hours and we still didn't receive all of the food we ordered. One does not simply enter Kahori and not get completely, uncomfortably full. Kahori is AMAZING. The sushi quality is fantastic, as is the non-sushi side plates. I've been here several times and each time have left completely stuffed wondering how it was possible that I ate so much. The only reason it is missing a star is because I consider it to be pretty expensive, especialy since its impossible (for most people) to go past a couple rounds because of how carb full everything is. I highly recommend coming here for lunch instead of dinner to avoid the 23 Euro price tag. All in all though, this place is spectacular to beat a craving. read more

Don't go with large party! We had around 20 people and it was not a good experience. I'm not sure if they always do this, but when we went in the evening you could only order up to 5 items off Buffett list every 10 minutes or so. However, because there were so many of us it took a long time to get the food out and we would not always get the food we ordered. Also, people were forgetting what they ordered so they were eating other peoples food since the wait staff couldn't keep up with the orders. This is the best(subjective) place to go when you want to hate yourself 1-2 hrs later. The sushi is as mediocre as German sushi can be, so basically ehhh. The grilled meats? Not bad (Obama face). It's a buffet, so if you were attempting to fool yourself with high quality foods like you pretend you gonna do cardio at the end of a gym session, don't do it. From the street, I was not expecting to walk into such a nice-looking restaurant. -The view from one of the window tables is very nice. -The experience is fun! It was a fun night for my husband and I to try new things, and order from the iPad. -If you don't like something, then you can let them know right away and they will not charge you for the waste. The Bad: -It's pretty $$$ for the quality of food you receive. This has been the most expensive meal we have had in KL so far. -The food. It's just ok. The sushi is 90% rice as others have said. Consensus: We will probably go back with friends since the experience is fun, but full-well knowing that it won't be for the best meal in the world.
