I rented a condo through VRBO. My criteria was based on three factors the location, the view and the quality of the condo based on the VRBO pictures.
When I arrived and checked into the Kahana Reef we received unit #316. As I walked into the unit it was as if I stepped back into early 80's. It was clearly apparent that the unit I rented based on the pictures was not this one. Unit #316 was an OLD and DATED unit. Unit #316 had shag carpet with a lot of stains, the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on. The bed rises in the middle and sinks on the sides. The bathroom is small the shower is cramped, even for a average sized person. The kitchen was old and dated, not what I thought I was getting based on the VRBO pictures. Knives were dull and no can opener, basic essentials were not provided. The couch cushions were obviously re-done but did not fit right so they kept slipping on the floors.
Overall Unit #316 was not what I would have rented ever! When I rented from the property management, it was based on the pictures. The unit I received was not even close to the representation of those pictures. But if you are into early 80's decor then this place is for you. Oh and for all those people, who worked at circuit city as a teenager this place has a great 80s stereo system with a dual cassette tape player.
On a positive note, the view from the balcony is great, close to the ocean and a good snorkeling beach.
Word of advice when renting from VRBO or the property management ask for pictures of the unit. The pictures that are posted might not be a accurate representation of what you will be getting. read more
