Pool is "smallish" but big enough for a few families and also many lounges to relax. Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful view! The room was okay, some things were old and some were updated. The curtains wouldn't close in the living room because the rod was so old. Had to keep the doors open at night as it was way too hot to close them. The wind was nice but we had to remove the paintings from the wall or the wind would have knocked them down and broke them. The location was good, out of the hustle and bustle but close enough to get to where we wanted. The pool was great, it was heated and perfect. There was NO beach access. The closest access is a few blocks cutting through a hotel's parking lot. The parking was great as it was included however if you have a large vehicle good luck getting into the spot they are small. We recently spent three nights at this West Maui oceanfront resort. At this time of year the temperatures were pretty good, so we really didn't need air-conditioning. None of the rooms have air-conditioning. It was walking distance to the Kahana Gateway shopping center which was very convenient for dining, banking, gas and other services. The two bedroom unit was large and well furnished, except the kitchen was lacking in storage space for food items. What might've been a pantry was filled with a stackable washer dryer unit. All in all we really enjoyed our stay though. Some of the pluses about this place: underground parking; elevators; access to the rooftop for sunset viewing: recycling in the parking garage. Some of the negatives: no air-conditioning; no beach; small pool; Road construction every morning;. Our visit was part of our Vacations International timeshare club. We were greeted warmly at the reception desk by a friendly person who gave us good check in tips. We are going to return again this month. read more

We stayed here for three nights. Out unit was clean, well furnished, and easily accessible. We had parking the lower level. The pool was heated and the beach right there! Confidently there is a gas station and a couple restaurants in walking distance. Also a Snorkle Bobs around the corner-so convenient! We especially enjoyed the bite from lanai and found it totally relaxing! Though it is a contactless entry we had no trouble and the staff texted immediately with help or suggestions. The new manager is really nice but the beach is sandbagged due to erosion. Fabulous views of Molokai and Lanai. Lots of turtles and rainbows. Thursdays, plan to stay out of the building completely because landscapers with incredibly noisy mowers and hedge trimmers and leaf blowers, etc are on property all day long. If you have a day to go to Hana or Haleakala or on a dive boat etc, pick Thursdays because Thursdays are a nightmare with grinding machinery noise. Gas powered machines should be illegal on the island for lots of reasons. Hopefully Hololani will convert to all electric landscaping in the near future so it's quieter and more environmentally friendly. Our vacation rental company was Maui Paradise Properties and they were super responsive. Unit B 204 has two Ocean front lanais. Pretty nice. But seriously, stay away on Thursdays. Great resort to stay at and it's right on the ocean with excellent views! l believe the B building is better due to the afternoon sun. Yes the only drawback is no AC, but the winds and fans keep it decent. Considering how nearby hotel rooms were going for about $100 more a night, you can deal with no AC and listen to the waves at night with the doors open. Each unit has two bedrooms and two bathrooms and is fully stocked with a full kitchen. Watched make sea turtles right from the start balcony. This is my second stay here and I would certainly recommend it! read more

B603 is an amazing two bedroom, two bathroom unit. The contemporary furnishings are a nice departure from old school island wicker. As a family of four, this condo is very comfortable. We love having the full-size kitchen and on-site BBQ's poolside. This unit never gets too hot as the trade-winds flow nicely most of the time. The unit has ceiling fans and floor fans that help keep the air moving too. We LOVE the pool. The temperature always feels perfect and refreshing. The views of Molokai are spectacular, we're enjoying beautiful sunsets from the balcony. Sleeping with the doors open, listening to the gentle sound of waves below is really heavenly! read more

BEWARE OF SCAM BOOKING! Booked and paid for stay at Hololani with credit card charged. Arrived late at night due to delayed flight plane mechanical issues and was left stranded with no access to rental unit. Could not get thru to property multiple attempts via Expedia. Expedia placed assist on highest priority level attempting to contact owner for rental access info. "48 hours after arrival received email stating property owner had called us several times (never received any calls or emails up to that time) and said because we did not respond put us down as a no show!!!!" We were not given access and the property refuses to give us our money back." Paid for travel insurance through Expedia and Expedia said "not our problem." Luckily night of arrival found hotel for first night then second night while trying to get ahold of rental/Expedia and then booked rest of stay at another place with availability after we found out Hololani left us stranded. Absolute nightmare! Reporting to Better Business Bureau and will never use Expedia again!!!!!! June 2023 read more

We really love it here! We are just a few days from the end of a 2 week stay here and it has surpassed our expectations as Vacation Internationale members. We stayed in A401 and the place has a great, shaded view of the ocean which we are enjoying immensely. A few points: Parking is simple and painless. There are bellboy trolleys at the entrance to the nearby elevator and even a trolley we used for groceries. The elevator is fast, clean, and appears to have air conditioning. The premises are kept clean and are well appointed. The shared BBQs by the pool are great and so is the pool (if a bit small). There is no beach due to erosion; though, I understand work to properly build a sea wall and potentially save the beach starts in September (keep that in mind because it will be noisy and block part of the view I expect). There are some pretty humorous noise based rules around the place, but our kids were well behaved and didn't earn the ire of the manager as some appear to have. All in all, we will likely be back. I definitely recommend our unit. read more

We stayed at unit B201 and were pretty happy with our overall experience here. The unit was very clean albeit being an older complex. The bathrooms were updated but kitchen is probably due for an upgrade soon. The place was in pretty close proximity to Miso Phat sushi and Hawaiian Village coffee both awesome spots. The only reason I can't give 5-stars is that the units have no A/C which I was unaware of and thankfully you get a great breeze and they have ceiling fans. Also, beach access isn't great you need to climb over sandbags to access it so we just drive to another beach good for snorkeling. Since there was no A/C we just opened up everything and got the breeze going through the place and listened to the sound of the ocean which lulled us to sleep. If you don't plan on spending all day in your unit you should be fine. We got up early and went exploring, shopping, snorkeling and didn't spend lots of time in the unit except to sleep or whip up a quick breakfast. The beds were really comfortable. read more

We AirBnB'd it at home he Hololani Resort. Loved it! Beautiful pool, grounds were well kept, the resort staff SERIOUSLY SCRUBBED all of the common areas every morning. Elevator worked perfectly the week we stayed. Parking garage was under ground and excellent. Easy access to Highway 30 so we easily got to all of the beautiful beaches, activities and gelato that we wanted. We would totally stay here again. read more

I have been going here for several years. I love that it is a condo and not a huge resort with tons of people. It is very quite and also affordable. I really enjoy the beach front units with huge balconies. The BBQ's in the pool area are well maintained and super clean. We just returned from 8 nights in Maui and unfortunately had a bad experience at Hololani. The condo itself wasn't bad except for the fact it didn't have air conditioning. I knew this going in, but didn't realize how hot it would actually be. Aside from that, from the first day after we arrived, we were called on my cellphone from management two times and told to keep the noise down. This was after having lunch on our Lanai at 2:30 in the afternoon!! Quiet hours were stated as 10pm-8am. I felt that the management was unreasonable and very rude to me, and when I asked for them to come up so we could discuss the matter, Kiki, the manager, told me she was going home. End of discussion. Please do not stay here if you want to be treated well and have good customer service! Never again for us! read more

Gone to Heaven We stayed at the Hololani D-402 (9/30/11) for three days(thru our time share) and was pretty happy. There is more of a beach than we were informed of on other reviews, the room was fully loaded and well taken care of. The only issue we had was with the ladie on the 6th floor who hollard at us to be quiet in the pool @ 7:30pm,(apperantly she does that to everyone) But then we met Dan the hotel manager shortly after that and he was as cool as they get. If I could I would give zero stars. This property is literally falling into the ocean! DO NOT STAY HERE. For the next six months they will be installing a 12 foot tall 400 foot long steel sheet sea wall. Not only will anyone staying here have to listen heavy machinery pile driving steel into the ground but this project will sabotage efforts to replenish the beach from offshore sand deposits. When I stayed here there was a protest against the wall and I learned of the impacts of this sea wall. Please do not spend your vacation dollars here! read more

This place is fantastic-- it's centrally located between Kanapali and Kapalua, walking distance to a local store and gym, and there's a nice little beach in front (with a beach side pool if you want to lay on one of the chaise lounges.) We have been coming here for years, and we think that you can't get a better value for your money. The condo we stay at is a beautiful end unit with 180-view of the water, we usually cook on the grill or at our condo because the view can't be beat. We'll continue to come back! read more

I've stayed at quite a variety of condos on Maui over many trips to the island. To start with, the unit itself that I stayed in was owned by Vacation Internationale. The condo interior was alright. Things didn't start off well with both toilets backing up and the VI staff telling us they would have someone out the next day to take a look at it. In the meantime, we could use the bathroom at McDonalds, or the porta potty out in front of the Valley Isle. They did come out the next day and temporarily fix the toilets. Except for two days later, the same thing happened again. They did fix them the second time. Then halfway through the stay, the dishwasher started leaking. More of the same, they'll get to it. About four days later and it's still not fixed. Was it ruining our trip, no. But it was an inconvenience that could easily have been avoided. Then there is the issue with parking. We were staying at a two bedroom unit, and each couple had a rental car. There is only one assigned space down in the garage, which I fully understand. There are a few parking stalls out front, may 8 or 9. One of the spaces is assigned to the building manager. The stalls are only available to park in from 5pm to 8am. They say that they will tow vehicles outside those hours. Something to be aware of. Just another inconvenience for staying at the condo. The staff downstairs were quite rude to us. The Vacation Internationale staff was as helpful as they could be, but were borderline rude as well. The best staff that we had interactions with were the maintenance and cleaning staff. They were extremely nice and very thorough. Every other condo that I've stayed at has been far more accommodating and helpful than the staff here. I would not stay here again. Another review stated that there is a beach in front of the condo. This is true. However right now you can not get access to the beach as the condo has it completely fenced off with no ability to get to the beach other than walking down the street and accessing it from another resort. I'm sure not all of the units are like this. And I'm sure that not all of the staff is as rude as the ones that we interacted with. This was merely my family's experience. read more

Their comments centered on the construction noise and their own views on the local politics surrounding the building of the wall. This feedback does nothing to support the resort, as they try to accommodate their guests while being forced to deal with nearby construction. Most certainly, their bookings are suffering as a result of it. I did some research online and the contractor is trying their best to keep the noise level down, including a dust fence and going forward with the next phase of construction, where the noise level has decreased. read more

Just got back from a fantastic trip to Maui! We stayed at Hololani in this condo - A 103 http://www.vrbo.com/276818 It is a fantastic unit upgraded with everything you could possibly need. The location is 50 ft. from the water and the lanai can be enclosed which is really nice. The owners are wonderful to work with and I highly recommend this unit if you are interested in this condo resort. The ground floor location on the right side allows lots of privacy and it great for kids to play in the grass. The pool was not very crowded and the BBQs were great for evening meals. There is a beach within walking distance as well as a shopping center with restaurants, food and gas. read more

This place is absolutely AWFUL! I would give zero stars if I could! We have been harassed by Kiki, the property manager since day 1 of our stay! We have constant "complaints" from a permanent resident about noise in the afternoon while we are enjoying lunch on our patio, talking and simply enjoying our vacation. We are not disrespectful, unreasonable or loud people at all. Just simply trying to relax and spend quality family time together over lunch. She threatened to issue fines to us if the noise continues but we aren't even being loud! Apparently we are supposed to walk around like mice and not make a peep or use our patio for lunch or dinner. We called back to resolve the issue and Kiki was very rude. She wouldn't come up and talk to us so we could show her we were just relaxing. She said she couldn't come up because she "was going home" (we called at 2:30 and supposedly the office closes at 3) and then hung up. We suggested that if the noise we are causing is too much, we will simply find another place to stay if they give us our money back for the remainder of the trip. She said that this was not in our contract and that we will have to stay. We have had an AWFUL experience so far and this is only our second day of a 9-day stay here in Maui. You would think that someone who is respectfully trying enjoy this beautiful place would be treated much better. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere!!! read more

This review is for Vacation International time shares. My husband and I stayed in unit 41 for a week and it was wonderful. The grounds are well kept, the ladies upon check in where very helpful and friendly. Our unit had an amazing view of the ocean and you could hear the waves breaking gently upon shore all night. The only downside was the nice beaches were either a 10 minute walk or a 10 minute drive depending on which beach you wanted to spend the day at. We are definitely coming back. read more

I was very blessed to be able to enjoy 10 days in beautiful Maui, but unfortunately chose Hololani as the place to stay. This place is outdated, under maintained and very inhospitable, definetly not kid friendly, and no beach access.... Pool hours are 9 a.m.-9p.m. and this means no one is allowed out on the pool premises before or after hours. While I was there, some new found friends of mine complained of being harassed about their children playing in the pool and being "disruptive." As an outsider, I will tell you, these children were very well behaved and mild mannered, but the manager came out and very rudely insisted the parents quiet their children or evacuate them from the pool, due to a complaint that one person made. Later in the evening while us adults enjoyed each others company, around 8:30 p.m., a woman who owns an apartment in This complex starting yelling profanities and cussing at all of us to go home,from her balcony up on the 7th floor, before the curfew of nine, while we sat around the pool. This incident brought everyone out onto their balconies as her rant went on for almost 20 minutes, even after asking her to watch her language, in front of the children who were present the rant continued, but, even though the manager lives right on premises, he never came out to address this issue. This is just one issue.... The manager comes out to walk through the grounds, many tines throughout the day, but is so rude as to even ignore someone who openly says hello. I have traveled quite a bit, but never have I gone anywhere and been treated so disrespectfully. The maintenance on this place is sorely lacking and I most definetly do not recommend this place to anyone especially no one who has children or wants beach access or to even go swimming in the pool, it is not a cheap place and to spend your money on it you expect much more, instead you end up feeling very uncomfortable and disappointed. Maybe try the place next door, called the Royal Kahana, ad this place seems to be a very nice vacation spot, with Bach access. read more

I am writing this review while we are currently staying on site in unit A303. The ocean view is spectacular, and we have seen several whales doing their thing. Unfortunately, the beauty is being swallowed up by construction going on right outside our window. This kind of stuff happens, and I realize that upgrades and the like are necessary at some point and will undoubtedly be an inconvenience to the current occupants. This said, we were moved to this property by Maui Paradise Properties because renovations were taking place at the original condo we booked, and they manage. Well, the main amenity we were looking for is a swimming pool, and guess what is being renovated? Very disappointing! In fairness to the management company, they have arranged for tenants to use pools at adjacent properties. The main issue is one of being mislead and lied to by Maui Paradise Properties. Everything which is going on and the lack of amenities, should have been disclosed up front, and would have been by any ethical management company. I would stress that anyone looking to visit here, make sure they steer clear of Maui Paradise Properties! When we voiced our concerns, they have been non-responsive...I can only assume because they have our money. On top of this, the unit, while spacious, was filthy when we arrived. Dishes and pans had greasy film on them which required re-washing everything. The floors were dirty and dusty. My advice would be to invest a few more dollars if necessary, and stay somewhere else, but by all means avoid using Maui Paradise Properties, LLC. License #RS7803. They are a rip off! read more

Each late December morning out on the lanai of unit A402 was "reserved" for whale watching and it never disappointed. Large enough for 4-6 comfortably. You could also see the coastlines on Lanai and Molokai and there were often spectacular rainbows. Not sure how the winds blow during the summer, but during our stay the rooms were quite comfortable with no AC. That would be my only concern staying here other months of the year. Construction currently, building a sea wall, so no beach immediately along the property, but that doesn't hinder your ability to find a beach very close by. They started early, but really, during whale season you wanted to be up early. 15-20 min to Lahaina depending on traffic. Parking spot 43 for this unit and is a little tricky the first time. We had a Tahoe XL and had to back in the slot each time as it is at the end with a car on one side and the wall on the other. So had to pull up in another parking spot or the entrance to the other parking area and then back around. Thankfully we had a backup camera and my passengers didn't mind being dropped off at the elevator. Smaller cars you may have no issue. Plenty of kitchen items to cook with, but you may want some candles or small lamp to light up the lanai table when eating outside. The queen bed was plenty long for my 6'5 frame, so we elected that bed over the king which was a little shorter. Be sure to open the sliding door and bathroom window if staying in the roadside bedroom, provides great airflow. Pool is smaller but never seemed crowded. The three grills were very popular so plan accordingly. Learned to blow the conch shell, but follow rules and learn about the tradition first. Would stay here again during cooler months for sure. read more
