Really good chicken gyro. The size was huge though. Gets really hard to eat the way it's made - basically like a big open taco. Fries tasted great too - with that simple homemade taste. This is inside The Cart Blocks square. There's some shared covered seating in the square. And ample street parking in the 1-2 blocks surrounding it.

Food was incredible. I asked the man what was the best thing on the menu, he recommended #12 the lamb gyro combo and it did not disappoint. Highly recommend this place if you like authentice Mediterranean cuisine.

First of 2 food trucks I ate at today I enjoyed my falafel and hummus greatly. Wait time was reasonable and the chef was in good spirits. Friends enjoyed their gyros, which were sizeable, hot and perfectly seasoned

AMAZING shawarma truck right next to powells. Portland packs a serious punch in Halal. This was one of the best we have had here. The owner was super nice as well - hardworking!

Great gyro place in the pearl. Located on burnside right below the north park blocks. Nestled between a Chinese and Mexican place Owner is super friendly. Recommended the chicken saj - we opted for a chicken and lamb gyro. Both tasted great - packed with a TON of meat. We ate it at home and added some greens to it to balance out

Don't miss these extra options in the window! I ordered the dolma!

This food cart is in a pod and at first it doesn't jump out at you. I love Mediterranean food, so I lingered a little at the menu. I was excited to see dolma, which I had been absolutely craving lately, and samosas. I ordered both. The food was made to order, (except the dolma) and the service took about 5-7 minutes. If you would like to eat right away, there are several picnic tables available in a community area in the middle of the pod. There were people who appeared to be eating on their lunch breaks and families with small children enjoying the outdoors and atmosphere. I had beef samosas, which were new to me. I have only had vegetarian before. They were crispy, fresh, and filled with ground beef and minced onions. I got 5 samosas for $14 and 7 dolma with cucumber & yogurt sauce for $7. It was way too much food for me to eat in one sitting, so I had the rest for leftovers. I had another samosa cold for dinner with the leftover dolma. The next morning I warmed the last two samosas in a pan. They were delicious as leftovers. If 5 stars = crave-worthy, then I can't imagine giving anything less. I can't wait to go back to this food cart.

Friendly management and delicious food in a calm area of downtown lined with food carts! Definitely worth the try if you're looking for some good wraps (don't forget to get the chili sauce if you like some spice)!

Very nice couple. The lady gave me a sample of lamb and I was hooked.. Ended of buying a lamb burrito.. I know, I know it's not a buritto, but wasn't sure what it was. Whatever it was, it was sooooo good and had so much flavor. Loved every bite. I attached a picture of how big it was. Way bigger than my hand. Will definitely come back to this place when I'm in Portland.

    Chicken shawarma rice plate! Yum!

Fresh off the plane and definitely had to hit up the Alder food carts on my first night in town. With so many choices and yummy smelling food it can be hard to make a decision, so I turned to trusty Yelp as a guide. I saw Kafta House had 5 stars off the bat so I had to go with them! On to the food! I asked the clerk which rice plate he recommended. He said chicken shawarma so I went with that. As I expected, it was super delicious! Flavorful, tender, and juicy chicken complemented with the aromatic rice. The hummus and yogurt was yum as well. I definitely left satisfied! The service was very friendly as well! I definitely give these folks a recommendation!

Juicy tender meat that will melt in your mouth. I got lamb gyro with extra meat for $7. Gyro was filled with meat and not too big chunks of tomatoes which was a plus! My second visit and I had the same experience. Great service and good food. This guy definitely doesn't need to yell to get customers. Must try!

There is plenty of seating there and It looked like there was a space for live music and string lights - probably a fun spot to grab dinner in the evening. We came for lunch and ordered the chao mian with chicken (spicy) and bian bian noodles (spicy). The noodles are cooked to order and we were served quickly. The serving sizes are huge. Neither one of us could finish ours. We'll likely order one dish to split next time, and that'd still probably be more than enough. The flavor of the chao mian was a bit lackluster. It was savory with a soy sauce flavor base, but got a bit repetitive with each bite. It was decently spicy and texture was there with the veggies, but I wish there was a way to customize with more spice or vinegar to taste. The bian bian noodles were more flavorful and also spicier. Fun noodle texture. There are also other vendors in the garden so you can pair a dessert, drink, or side with your meal while staying in the same area. Overall, a filling meal for a good price! Would come again to try their beef noodle soup.

I went with their recommendation and ordered the No. 1 Chicken Shawarma Wrap, and it was fantastic. The shawarma itself was juicy and packed with flavor, and it balanced really nicely against the fresh vegetables and the tanginess from the pickles. The fluffy garlic sauce inside is airy, garlicky, and almost feels whipped, but the pro move is definitely to ask for extra along with some of their house made hot sauce on the side. Everything is wrapped and griddled to toasty perfection, making it an ideal compact grab-and-go lunch, or a great meal to enjoy more leisurely at one of the shaded picnic tables. One thing to note is that the orders do take a bit of time, so it is not the best option if you are in a rush. That said, it is absolutely worth it if you have a little time and patience, so just grab a brew, relax, and enjoy the weather while you wait.

Although it is still new and not all the spaces are filled yet, it seems like it will be a great place to dine there on nice weather days. I had already tried their bingsu food cart. This time I tried the Shawarma House. There are about 3 food carts that serve similar or the same food. I had the triple meat plate. It consisted of lamb, chicken and beef. It came with pita bread and hummus and tzatziki sauce. The sauce that drizzled on top was good but I couldn't quite tell what it was. The lamb meat was by far the best. The chicken and beef was okayed. Hummus and tzatziki serving was large. I wish I had more pita bread so I didn't have to waste the dipping. There was a good amount of rice under the meat. The plate was good overall but there was not enough sauce drizzled on the top. As a result, everything seemed dry.

Unfortunately, I came away pretty disappointed. Everything except the pork belly was actually really good. The rice had a good texture and separate grains. The fried egg was crispy and had a nice runny yolk. The cucumbers had a nice thickness and crunch to them (could been colder though). The prik nam pla (fish sauce, chiles, maybe a little lime?) was really great -- something about the flavor really popped for me and was tasty. And everything was served hot and fresh. But the pork belly sucked, and that kinda ruined the dish for me. The fatty parts weren't melt-in-your-mouth at all. They were just chewy. The skin wasn't crispy, it also was chewy. The meaty parts weren't juicy at all, they were tough. I dunno, everything about it seemed wrong. And getting the pork belly right seems like a crucial part of the overall dish. After eating maybe 1/3 of the pieces of pork belly, hoping each time that the bad pieces were just outliers, I gave up and just pushed the rest of them to the side while I ate the rest of the dish. Oh well.

The culinary experience was truly remarkable, and the customer service was exceptional. The restaurant's location is also highly favorable, contributing to its overall appeal. As a Jamaican who grew up in the Miami neighborhood known as "Little Haiti," I have had ample exposure to Haitian cuisine, particularly griot. My childhood memories include saving my allowance to purchase griot from a Haitian lady's house on Fridays, with the assistance of a neighbor who spoke her language. My first taste of griot occurred when I was 11 years old. I felt compelled to share this background information to establish my credentials in assessing the quality of Haitian cuisine.
