They absolutely LOVE coming to class and learning new techniques. They are both constantly reminding me that they have class that day and my daughter gets very upset the few times we miss class lol funny thing is that I was worried about her not liking it and now it's her favorite hobby. Both kids will practice the lessons they learn in class on their own at home which I think says a lot about the instructors and how they lead the class and teach the students. All of the coaches are very professional yet make coming here feel like being part of a family. Also, I am very surprised to see the techniques they are learning in class. The lessons begin as simple and basic then build off of each other. The studio is also ALWAYS very clean. Price point wise, I think it is very reasonable and I'm grateful this is also a place where they don't try to haggle you or add extra charges as I have seen/experienced at other places. This is a studio where they really care for the students and their developments. I think I could go on and on about how amazing this place is! But for now I'll just leave it at that! :)

From the moment I stepped onto the mats, Professor Ali, Coach Luis, Coach Chris, and all the students made me feel completely at home. The vibe in the academy is super friendly, supportive, and extremely welcoming. The level of instruction here is genuinely top-notch--they take knee on belly to a whole new level! Whether you live locally in the area or are just passing through and looking to drop in for a roll, do yourself a favor and check out A-Team. Can't wait to come back!

My two boys, ages 8 and 12, have been training at A-Team for the past three years. Master Ali,…read moreCoach CJ, and Coach Luis are great mentors, not just to my boys but to all the kids there. Master Ali and his coaching staff go beyond teaching BJJ. They teach discipline, self-confidence, communication skills, and life lessons like how to deal with bullies. When demonstrating a technique, they ask the kids questions about it to keep them engaged and make sure they're paying attention. Everything at A-Team is earned, nothing is given. Stripes and belts aren't handed out just because you pay the monthly fee. When a kid makes a mistake, the coaches correct it; when a kid performs well, they get a compliment that reinforces their confidence. The coaches run a tight ship and don't let the kids run wild. I would highly recommend A-Team to any parents who want to help their kids learn self-defense and build self-confidence and discipline.

Edwin has a great explanation of every question or idea you have. I came back to the gym despite moving further away. You will definitely LEARN jiu jitsu while also being in a very good environment. I like that Edwin spends a bit of extra time giving detailed explanations and answering questions, explaining WHY you do or don't do something and not just how to do it. He's great at breaking down complex movements into digestible pieces and suggesting tweaks to improve your technique. He tailors advice for every student depending on many things - different body types, personal goals, current injuries, whatever you can think of. I feel like I have made quicker progress at this gym compared to other places because of this. It's a small gym at this point in time; a lot of the classes feel almost like private sessions. It's a hidden gem! Definitely drop by if you're in the area, whether you've been doing bjj your whole life or if you're interested in trying out for the first time! I felt comfortable to roll during the trial class as a small woman. The people at The Grappling Lab make sure all students feel safe. Also offers best pricing in the area :)

I find that the way the average martial art is taught usually doesn't translate to sparring and fighting. Training and fighting become two different things. I think Paul has transcended that and shares his discoveries with you from a the fighter's perspective. He also addresses the mental aspect of fighting as well. In my perspective, he's a true martial artist and a warrior not just a teacher that rehashes curriculum in a set of patterns that may not apply in the real world.
