They absolutely LOVE coming to class and learning new techniques. They are both constantly reminding me that they have class that day and my daughter gets very upset the few times we miss class lol funny thing is that I was worried about her not liking it and now it's her favorite hobby. Both kids will practice the lessons they learn in class on their own at home which I think says a lot about the instructors and how they lead the class and teach the students. All of the coaches are very professional yet make coming here feel like being part of a family. Also, I am very surprised to see the techniques they are learning in class. The lessons begin as simple and basic then build off of each other. The studio is also ALWAYS very clean. Price point wise, I think it is very reasonable and I'm grateful this is also a place where they don't try to haggle you or add extra charges as I have seen/experienced at other places. Coach Kevin teaches the early morning classes. Class is structured in a light warm up, flexible technical workshop style back and forth with a partner, techniques, then free rolling. Master Ali and his coaching staff go beyond teaching BJJ. They teach discipline, self-confidence, communication skills, and life lessons like how to deal with bullies. When demonstrating a technique, they ask the kids questions about it to keep them engaged and make sure they're paying attention. Everything at A-Team is earned, nothing is given. Stripes and belts aren't handed out just because you pay the monthly fee. When a kid makes a mistake, the coaches correct it; when a kid performs well, they get a compliment that reinforces their confidence. The coaches run a tight ship and don't let the kids run wild. I find that the way the average martial art is taught usually doesn't translate to sparring and fighting. Training and fighting become two different things. I think Paul has transcended that and shares his discoveries with you from a the fighter's perspective. He also addresses the mental aspect of fighting as well.
