My wife & I have been there 3 times and each was excellent. The food was more plentiful than other places. The service was always attentive with a smile. The ambiance is very Asian. Went to Kabuto based on my daughter's prior experience. First of all, our teppan chef was NOT inspired. I realize the some chefs are more animated than others; ours was marking time. Food prep was pretty good, but no showmanship. And that is why one goes to a teppan restaurant. Now, let's talk about the sushi. If you are going to serve sushi, you should make an attempt to do it well. If not well, then decent. Ours was neither. We had a California Roll, and my daughter ordered sake nigiri. The Cali Roll was heavy on the rice and light on the filling. This restaurant has the nerve to bring out ONE piece of salmon nigiri and call it an order. I have NEVER been brought a SINGLE piece of nigiri sushi anywhere, EVER!! I asked the waitress if perhaps this was a mistake and she said "no, that is how it is served" Needless to say, I will not be returning to Kabuto anytime soon and I recommend that anyone who knows Japanese teppan find another restaurant to dine in. We had a group of more than 15 so they split us between two grills which was fine except one chef was lots of fun and the other was mundane. The food was bland at best. Our waitress was very friendly but was a little scatter-brained with little details... like forgetting an extra dipping dish and a refill of a soft drink. Came here for my son's birthday. By the end it didn't feel like a celebration. First red flag went up when the front of house was shouting at someone in the dining room asking if the tables were cleaned. Waitress was nice, we let her know we were celebrating a birthday. Food rolled out and the soup was cold. Chef did a good job, he executed his job. But that's it, he was really flat on delivery. Did the obligatory fire stuff, but that's about it. I don't know if he smiled the whole time. Meats were cooked to order. Everything else was bad, rice was dry. We come to these meals as a family for special occasions, this one was a miss. I apologized to everyone for the experience. They even forgot to sing to my son. I know it's not a thing everywhere, but he saw them do it for another table. This place seemed extremely short staffed but everyone here is super nice and goes the extra mile. Our chef Harvin was fantastic. The food tasted great, and unlike other places I have been like this, our server frequently came back to check on us. As one would expect, pretty hefty wait for Saturday dinner and no reservations were available online for Saturday several days out. read more

This isn't the same Kabuto's we ate at 5 years ago. Different owners I knew something was wrong when I seen a Mexican chef. I usually love all the Mexican restaurants but this isn't their specialty we're so, so, so, disappointed. Soups wasn't good ( bland) , fried rice edible, no tricks on the grill like they use to do. I don't understand why this only gets a 2.4 review. The food was amazing. The service was great. Ambience was nice and very clean location. We did the hibachi grill with steak and shrimp and appetizers were pork belly and one of their specialty sushi definitely will be coming back to this place again if you're looking for hibachi grill definitely come here. read more

Food is good, Service is good (Unless you don't tip). Don't go if your over a party of 6, they'll charge you 25 dollars more on your check. If you go in a big party, split it up under 6 people so you won't get charged with a big fee. Plus, still wanting a tip after the 25 dollars extra is insane. Not much positive I can say about this place. The place looks run down and not well maintained. The atmosphere was not well lit, and when they celebrate a birthday they just bang pots and pans for about 5 mins straight, leaving with you little more than a ringing in your ears. We did the hibachi, and were underwhelmed with it. Salads were swimming in way too much dressing, and soup lacked flavor. The fried rice, which usually is the star attraction to a good Japanese steakhouse, was a huge disappointment. I've never had to add salt and pepper to my rice when getting hibachi before. But it lacked any seasoning whatsoever. Both the chicken and shrimp were cooked well, as was the vegetable stir fry. Overall, not impressed. read more

Coming from out of state we didn't know anything about this restaurant, only that it was Japanese. The waitress was friendly and the fellow preparing the meal was good. We were very disappointed in the food. The veggies were good but the rice and meats lacked flavor. Adding yum yum sauce and soy did little to enhance our meal. We have been to Hibachi restaurant in our city several times and enjoyed it immensely. Also the soup was jut luke warm. We would not recommend this restaurant. read more

We have been frequenting this restaurant since it reopened, and I had planned to have my father's 80th birthday party with weeks of planning and having people coming from out of town, It was an absolute disaster once our party arrived we were told by the management that they would not be able to serve us today because all the chefs walked out at the same time, so we had to Try to find a place that would accommodate 16 of us so we could have a decent meal for my dad's 80th birthday party. After an hour of trying to find a place to go while sitting in our cars, we found another hibachi place that could accommodate us, but it was a 45 minute drive when I was there I noticed that the place was super dirty the windows looked like they haven't been cleaned in a month. The chairs were very sticky, and after booking this party online two weeks prior to the party and was told yes if I could arrive early at 11 o'clock to decorate the room, When I arrived, they had no knowledge of me asking to decorate the room even though it was listed on the online reservation and I had an email from the manager reading that we could get there early. This was just a complete disaster And completely ruined my father's 80th birthday.
