After a long hiatus, the seventh installment of my "Kabob Kompendium" profiling various kabob joints in the DMV region broken down into a set of common criteria: 1) ethnic focus 2) kabobs 3) side dishes 4) rice 5) condiments 6) bread 7) x-factor (s) 1) Ethnic focus: Pakistani, although curiously they feature some gyro sandwich options 2)) Kabobs- a bit dry and lacking in the succulence factor, seasoning also appears superficial perhaps due to insufficient marinade time or just choice of breast meat rather than thigh for the chicken kabobs 3) side dishes- side salad is filler with iceberg lettuce and few cukes/tomatoes without dressing (substitute out), chickpeas were pretty standard with a hint of spice 4) rice-bland and perhaps slightly undercooked or intentionally more firm, but I prefer a more flavorful fluffy or moist rendition 5) Condiments- mint yogurt chutney with pleasant note of fresh mint and heat, not overpowering but necessary to perk up the bland aforementioned rice and dry chicken 6) Bread- puffy naan bread with nice buttery finish but becomes rubbery if not consumed immediately 7) x-factor- maybe it's the economy in general, but price point seems high, I got a BOGO special for the chicken kabob platter for $20 but I wouldn't necessarily pay for one meal at regular price. Overall, if chicken kabobs were on the Cheesecake Factory menu, this version would be on the skinnylicious menu for those counting calories and preferring a healthier less indulgent version since flavors seem muted and textures appear lacking due to insufficient oil/grease. read more

A first time guest tonight at this little restaurant, but I have ordered for delivery since COVID, and I finally got the opportunity to see where it all happens. The service at this visit was pleasant from the front of house staff. They stopped by my table a few times to check on me. Thoughtful and friendly....and nice smiles all around. The food is typically excellent when it is delivered to my home, and dining in did not disappoint me. I thought their Naan was standard and good, but dining inside I appreciated that the Naan was baked to crispy excellence, especially on a cold night like tonight. I am surprised to see how many people roaming here inside the restaurant on a cold Sunday night. I found out later there was a birthday party group enjoying themselves hidden behind me separated by a temporary black partition. Despite the rain this evening, many people are coming into the place to pickup their food items, and the phone oh so busy. Don't expect to bring large groups here. The restaurant has just a few tables inside. They do have a couple tables outside when the weather is good. It will probably be spring or summer when I dine in again. Kabob Zone is absolutely amazing! I first discovered it on DoorDash, and I was so impressed--the food arrived hot, fresh, and the naan was incredible. As someone from Pakistan, I truly appreciate the authentic flavors and the care that goes into every dish. Everything is made fresh to order, delivery is quick, and when you visit in person, the experience is even better. Ordered dinner on Friday night! I do appreciate how thoroughly they package their take out containers, no spilling or cross over of food. We had the gyro wraps, very yummy, fresh. I would have preferred thinner sliced meat- these were thicker than I'm used but the flavor was spot on. The chickpeas stole the show. Amazing deep flavor. I poured it on my wrap and ate it with Naan. Was my favorite pet of the meal! I've also ordered their chicken skewers and I love the char on them. I wanted something different and my students who used to had moms who would often send me food graduated and I've been left to my own means. Yelp never lets me down. I searched and quickly found this place with very solid positive reviews and I'm grateful that I had the same experience. The staff members are so pleasant and helpful. Wanting something non-traditionally American I saw lamb kabob and ordered for pickup It was ready when I arrived and when I got home it was just "ok". The lamb was chunks (not on a skewer) and kinda dry. The basmati rice was good, the side salad to small to mention My friends (after the fact) told me the chicken is the best there, but have found the lamb to always be dry It was enough to eat on the next day...and a reheat didn't make it any less dry... topped it with some brown bean soup and made it edible Totally forgot to take a photo Will try the chicken next time, can't recommend the lamb read more

Editing for an updated review: I ordered here for the first time in a while and overall everything was pretty tasty. The chicken, while a tad plain was extremely moist and perfectly cooked. The chickpeas were delicious as were the samosas. The green sauce was amazing and I could drink it straight Used to love this place but the last few times I have ordered just haven't been great. I decided to try again tonight and try something new, butter chicken. The butter chicken is sitting in straight oil/grease and does NOT taste anything like butter chicken. I also ordered chicken samosas which I usually love but they were fried for too long tonight but are soggy. I think I have finally given up on this place. Thank god they give you rice bread and chick peas with the butter chicken so I can eat something for the $20 read more

I tried this for the first time recently and wish I'd tried it sooner. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the food is made to order. I ordered a chicken kabob wrap and side order of chick peas. My chicken kabob wrap was outstanding. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the vegetables were fresh and crisp, the bread was warm and chewy, and the tzatziki was bright and tangy. The chick peas were the right amount of firmness and were served in a liquid that was bursting with seasoning and flavor. They were slightly spicy which is par for other Afghan restaurants that I have tried. Yummy. I can't wait to go back and look forward to trying other things on the menu. Speaking of the menu, please note that the paper menu they hand out seems to be a "lite" version as much of their regular menu is missing (e.g., the chicken kabob wrap I ordered isn't listed). I was craving a kabob since my go to place had closed down a few weeks ago and had to start trying new places. I've driven past this place a lot but never really thought to try it out. We placed an online order on their site for a chicken kabob with a zaatar herb naan, ground beef kabob with garlic naan, and a ras malai. The food took about 30 minutes and was ready slight before I got there. The staff was pretty friendly and I got in and out quickly. The chicken and ground beef were very flavorful and juicy (ground beef might've been better). Came with some equally flavorful chickpeas and a small side salad which was nothing special. The zataar naan was packed with flavor and huge but it usually is. The garlic naan was also good, no complaints. The ras malai was delicious, and not too sweet. I may need to give it a few more visits but I may have found my new local go to kabob spot. read more

I was in the mood for good kabobs and was so happy that I read my yelp reviews and picked Kabob zone. The service was excellent and professional. Our order came out quickly and was very fresh. We choose 4pm before the Sunday dinner rush on purpose, it's a small local in a small strip mall. We ordered the chicken and lamb combo for us to share. It came with rice, chickpeas and a small salad and Naan. There were great white/ green sauces that we also given to us. I requested a small sauce sample of the butter chicken as well. My kids and I usually go to our favorite kabob place in Arlington, VA when we want kabobs (yes, it's that serious lol). This time; however, we decided to try a spot close to home. We were not disappointed. The food here was great! I had the chicken kabob, my son had the beef wrap, and my daughter had the chicken wrap. None of us could finish our food - they gave us so much!! I stopped by here for a quick bite on my way to 95 for a long drive. The strip mall is a bit rundown, so I, honestly, wasn't too sure about things. The prices went up a lot, compared to the linked menu here. Chicken kabobs was $15. I got that and the falafel. The place was definitely not the cleanest. The tables and floor were quite messy, but the one reassurance I had was that I could see the kitchen. Everyone was masked, and, hopefully, they simply weren't able to clean the dining room and keep up with orders due to staffing concerns. When I got my food, it was truly amazing! I was a believer!! The chicken was so memorably flavorful and delicious. It was moist and tender. I'm so envious that these people in the area can have such good food anytime. I had to try to recreate it at home because it was so yummy! The chicken had this amazing heroines with a citrus bite, and I wish I had more. The rice was perfectly flavorful and fluffy with the nice sumac on top. This meal actually converted me on sumac, which I had recently purchased and thrown away. Too bad because I had to rebuy it to try to dupe this dish haha. I would love to try their other kababs for sure! My mouth is watering! The falafel was okay. I took a chance since Uber Eats rated it BEST OVERALL - they weren't lying. The boneless chicken kabob is truly the best boneless chicken kabob in the Woodbridge, VA area. They covered the food with foil in the container so the chickpeas wouldn't spill and even the naan bread was packaged in a paper bag and foil to prevent it from getting soggy and they even included a paper plate. It's the little things that make a difference when it comes to customer service. I will definitely be ordering from here again. read more
