I decided to try something new and different, lamb Karahi for two is what we ordered. Downfall, it only came with a small salad and naan. Soooooo, I ordered a side of chick peas and had some rice at home. We weren't too sure what lamb Karahi was, I actually thought I was ordering lamb chop but I was pleasantly surprised. It was like a stew dish with pieces of lamb on the bone. There was ginger and jalapeños in the dish. I can't really explain what it tasted like, it was just really good- kind of on the oily side though :(. Naan is yummy like always. Chickpeas are great too. Salad... Is a very basic iceberg salad. Usually I will just order one chicken tikka on the bone with the two sides which is always good. Next time, I think ill try lamb chops or the other lamb kabob. It does take some time to get the meal cooked, visit the mom and pop shops on the strip or call ahead. Good eats in a random little strip mall. read more

I've eaten so much Kabob N Karahi over the years, I don't even know where to start with my review... The food - I love the food here. It's almost become like comfort food for me. My tried and trued favorite is their chicken tikka with bone from their grill. It's especially important to get their bone-in chicken, because it's substantially more flavorful than their other chicken dishes. I've never had the chicken-tikka with bone and been disappointed. It's flavorful, moist, and juicy! I usually get it with either rice and/or chickpeas (depends on how hungry I am!) and it's just magical. They have this delicious sauce that they give you on the side, which is perfect for dipping your naan into. Another favorite of mine is their chaat samosa. I dream about this. I get an extra thing of the green sauce because half way through the green sauce which they added has been sucked up by the samosa. Their lamb kabob and lamb chops are both also great options. Of their karahi selection, I would recommend the goat karahi, lamb karahi, and kabob karahi. I find that their red meat options in the karahi are much better than their chicken. Their chicken karahi varieties are alright, but the red meat is definitely better. Menu items I have tried and have never liked are the beef and chicken seekh kabob. I always found them too mushy. Wouldn't recommend them. Lastly, another favorite is their chai. It's super cheap at $1.99 and hits the spot after finishing your meal. However, this brings me to the next point... The service - The service here is hit or miss and is mainly the reason for my 4-star review and not a 5-star review. Some of their team members are very friendly. Over the past few years they have had two main team members who help with clearing the tables, and they are both always very friendly. I come often and have become somewhat of a regular, so they are always very helpful in helping me secure a table (sometimes that can be tricky if you are there at a peak time). The team members behind the register who takes your order rotates. They are usually alright, but there have been one or two which been less friendly and less customer-service oriented. However, one of my biggest complaints is that sometimes they will tell you they don't have any more chai. Given that it is a menu highlight for me this is particularly frustrating. Their response also doesn't make sense because if you don't have any more chai, shouldn't they just make more, given that this is a food establishment? However most frustrating of all is that if a large party comes in, or if a group of men come in, and request chai, they fulfill the request!!! What is that?! I've complained to them on a few occasions about this, but it's a consistent pattern that I and many female patrons have noticed. The restaurant - The actual restaurant has pretty ample seating, but even with that, it can get packed on Fri, Sat, and Sun evenings. Try to avoid dinner time, you'll have a better chance of finding a table. One of the great things about Kabob n Karahi is that they are opened late and are located in the suburbs! While most places close at 9pm, they close at midnight on weekdays and 1am on weekends. This give you a bit more flexibility in terms of when you can go there. The place is relatively clean - over the years the tables have become noticeable more sticky, and if you go there closer to the end of the day, it does look a bit rough. read more

I cant believe that people find this place mediocre.....just judging the inside of the restaurant. Come OOONNNN YELPERS.... this is not a pretty well decorated restaurant but its good enough to feel safe, it needs more attention like any other small place with a minimal amount of staff...but i've been to a place that was a must go place by the wash post and I could not eat cus it was just dangerous. The food is amazingly tasty. Naan bread is great too. I love their chick peas and the lamb kabob. Chicken is good too. That yogurt sauce is great. I just come here every time I can. I think that we all have different taste buds and sometimes we differ on our opinions but they deserve their stars as of now. Ahhh! This is absolutely my favorite middle eastern Restaraunt in the state of Maryland, and possibly on the east coast. The food, the seasoning, the aroma of spices when you first walk in the Restaraunt will have your stomach growling. I've been coming here for a few years and I have tasted almost everything on the menu, and all the food is delicious! The staff puts a lot of care into preparing your food, and they have a knack of putting just the right amount of seasoning on your dishes that will have your food melt in your mouth. If you have not visited Kabob and Karahi you need to check it out ASAP! read more

Karahi means wok -- it's the stew in a bowl you can see in some of the pics. V good karahi. Similar quality, though a slightly different recipe, as Kabab Palace near National Airport (Arlington). Full crowd of customers on a Sunday late afternoon. Chickpeas were also well done, with a touch of garam masala like spice. We were driving in the area, but I think it's well worth the drive if you are within 20 minutes. From farther if you really want a kabob or karahi. read more

Neomi, Gideon, Roy and I ate he today. We shared 3 chat samosas, chicken karahi for 2, a humus based salad and nan that comes with the main dishes and, as usual, the food was super, extra delicious. I simply cannot think of any restaurant in the DC/MD/VA area that will give you the same bang for the buck. There are no waiters here and the food is eaten on plastic plates. No ambience to speak of. Hands down my favorite Kebob place! I usually get the boneless chicken kebobs and chole on the side. The wait is usually longer than I'd like but it's only because they're making everything fresh. Every now and then we treat ourselves to their karahi chicken. It is simply out of this world. Karahi chicken is not the healthiest thing one can eat but, OMG, it's worth the guilty pleasure. I highly recommend this place. Most would say that the service here isn't the best but we go so often they know us and treat us well. read more

Review is for the Karahi only since I haven't tried the Kabobs here. Tried the Chicken Karahi with sides of alu palak & lahori chole. Honestly none of the food was flavorful and the only taste was the heat component. The alu palak was bland, lahori chole although they look good were okay ( I guess I'm comparing it to chana masala) and the chicken karahi was the most disappointing. The quantity was good but once you dig into the curry has barely any flavor ( heat is not a flavor). I don't know if they had a off day or what but I won't be coming back. The place was pretty much packed on a Monday night so I'm guessing this place is popular with the locals. There upfront servers are extremely rude.They charged me different amounts for the same order and each time i got there. If you are getting a side order then just forget about the customer service.They will make you sit in the corner for ages and treat you as if you don't exist. Very good food, but very long wait. Don't go if you're in a hurry, you wo 't be happy. Don't bother calling ahead either as it does 't get done any faster. They cook the meat fresh once you order.
