Very disappointing food. The samosas were dry and tasteless. The Tikka Marsala was tasted like tomato sauce. The portions are extremely small. The Tandoori chicken was dry . This was my third visit here. This was not my favorite Indian restaurant but , at least the other times the food was better. I almost threw the food away . It was that bad. read more

FALAFEL WARNING WOOT!!! WOOT!!!! We stopped in here Memorial Day only after finding that Kathmandu Kitchen was closed for the holiday. Now, I had no great expectations of a fantastic food experience, knowing that in the past the food has been mediocre at best, and the service only good if you look Middle Eastern. The three of us ordered the falafel lunch special-major mistake. From here on out it will be referred to as the big falafel fail. It started out with ordering. The manager rang us up and I could tell that he overcharged me, so I asked for a receipt. He then did some spin doctoring, by screwing up his face, playing with my money and asking ME how much the falafel was. I looked over my shoulder and asked him if he was talking to ME. (No, this isn't that scene from Taxi Driver) He muttered something I couldn't understand, re-rang me and it was 3 dollars cheaper. Before eating I used the bathroom-no toilet paper, no hand towels, no hot water--Three bad hygiene strikes and you're out! The Big Falafel Fail: Our sandwiches were ready. We all had a couple bites, and then we looked at each other, because we knew there was something wrong. It basically tasted like deep fried parsley and other gunk-it was a mushy, disgusting, bitter mess over wilted lettuce. If there was a grain of chick pea meal in it, a microscope would have been needed to detect it. Now, the menu says that the falafel sandwich is supposed to come with tahini (sesame paste). It came with runny tzatziki. The bread was good, though-there, one star. It will be a long day in suburban hell before I ever eat at this hut again. read more

I don't understand why they don't keep their business looking clean. The tables are sticky, the floor is sticky, the area with the utensils and drinks just looks not clean, but I do go back on occasion because I love Iranian food and grew up with it, so I miss it! I like their food better than Orchard Market & Cafe (the other only Persian restaurant in the area) and it's a better deal. I usually will get 2 chicken kabob meals, along with a small container of extra yogurt sauce for $25. However, a few times my chicken has been dry/overcooked and was not enjoyable. The young girl who works there is not frindly at all, and really turned me off from going there. I do like the couple who owns the place, but I wish the man was a bit friendlier. Used to go ALL THE TIME. It was fun- bring your own wine, have a nice dinner, eat all that yummy grilled meat and fresh, freakin' awesome pita bread. Then something happened.....less and less staff were present on night shift; items started to be ommitted from platters- no pickle, then only one grilled tomato half instead 2, then none; less bread; service became slower, surlier- used to be friendly!; final insult- the bread was no longer fresh! It came TOASTED and hard, not fluffy and softt. In its heydey it was a fun, casual, and wonderful spot for a cheap dinner out. Maybe it's still good for lunch? That's always been their main focus, in downtown Towson. I'd love to know if it's nice again, but we were so turned off by our last few visits we have no desire to try again; I saw one of the nicest former employees not too long ago, who always made the fresh bread and was very friendly- she was working at Giant!!! read more

Place is dim and tables are sticky. Not particularly appetizing. Food was lukewarm and flavor only so so.

Stale bread,bad ambiance, poor customer service, and having to pay for parking, definitely not worth it. Unfortunately, this used to be a gem for Middle Eastern food many years ago. They obviously gave up on pleasing customers who used to come in droves for their sizzling kabobs. We had many pleasant family outings there, A DECADE AGO. We stopped by for a bite on a wednesday evening since I had heard friends say that the food was okay and one of my acquaintances had probably really liked it. What i forgot was that their opinion had been expressed two years ago. We ordered a chicken souvlaki and a felafel sandwich since the felafel was said to be "home made". The food took 1/2 hr to prepare and we were the only customers and yet it was not upto the mark. The bread was warm in parts, and parts were cold.Reading other reviews, I can now see why my felafel did not taste or look like falafel. It was some herbs with the chickpea most likely missing. The toilets were dirty. If you wanted plain water to drink, it was in a pitcher that looked not too clean. The table had salt and pepper shakers but no paper napkins. I am not going back. read more

Living in the DC area now, it might be funny to consider that there isn't a similarly delish replacement around here but...Kabob Hut, I miss you! This small no-frills restaurant that is half a block from the mall and Towson circle has great grilled meat--try the chicken, beef, or combination platter--that is typically served on a platter of rice with yogurt sauce and nan-style bread, which is made in a huge oven just behind the counter (don't worry, the place does not heat up because of this). While these two dishes are great, I could not get into their sausage so stick with the other suggested basics instead. In coming to Kabob Hut for several years, the quality is consistent and well satisfies that craving for, well, a kabob! read more

worst place ever! please don't waste your money and risk your life with food poisoning. I ordered a beef and chicken combo last night. When got there to pick up my food, i saw the cook microwaved it in a carry out styrofoam container. Hello! this could cause cancer! It was 104 degrees outside and there was NO AC inside the restaurant. I took a bite of the meat, it was clearly expired! Please stay away from this place for your own health and money! read more

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE FOR FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE!! We ordered a $25 gift certificate off of restaurants.com for $10. Thought it was a good deal, but when we got to the restaurant we got charged another $20 somehow for 2 platters of kabobs, not even the supersize. Our meal was $45 for 2 platters of kabobs and 2 sodas. My girlfriend got beef and he gave her chicken. When she saw the food and asked him, he told her that she was wrong and she ordered chicken. There was 6 small pieces of chicken and a handful of rice. The pricing made no sense. When we asked the guy behind the counter about how it was so much, he started yelling and asked us if we wanted a calculator to calculate the price. RUDE!! We were stuck because we had already gotten a gift certificate to this place. Then the food took 25 minutes and there was only 1 person before us. The tables were extremely sticky and disgusting. We put some napkins down on the table. I went to get hot sauce and it was in a old squirt bottle. The water was in a nasty pitcher, it all seemed VERY UNSANITARY. The food was horrible, there was NO FLAVOR! I could have put chicken on the george foreman with a little bit of seasoning and it would have tasted better. I would not recommend this to anyone. Food here was great. The kebabs were well marinated. I like their fruit tea that has a hint of watermelon. Their Iranian desserts are also tasty. Service is good too. The owner once came over to my table and asked if I was a student. Upon confirmation, he asked me about professional schools and careers. His kid, also working behind the counter, was getting ready to apply to colleges and wanted some insight. I was more than happy to help. Seemed like a hard working family trying to make a future for themselves. Recommended. read more

Yeah, so the ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. In fact, even though the delicious smells call to me when I walk by after yoga, I did not try it for 2-3 mos because it seemed so sketchy. I have mixed feelings about this place and am torn between 3 & 4 stars. I will start by saying the food was very good on the whole. There were a couple of disappointments in the meal. I was not happy with the bread. It was a little stale. The other was the degree to which they microwave things. That being said, the kabob was delicious. I got chicken, ground beef, & steak. All were juicy and well flavored. The rice was good. The baba ghanoush, which they were in the process of making and prepared a small batch for us, was quite good.The torshi, which was house made, was also very flavorful. This cafe has its roots in Persian Cuisine, the owners are PERSIAN. The food is fresh and home made. The Owner makes delicious soups in the winter and frequently introduces specials, of which, I look forward to, knowing the difference between Persian food and other middle eastern foods. My girlfriend and I chose to go to the Kabob Hut because she had a coupon from the Entertainment Book (if you're not familiar with it...it's a book of coupons you can buy that is produced ever year. Great gift idea!). The coupon was for "Enjoy one complimentary menu item when a second menu item of equal or greater value is purchased - maximum discount $5." We arrived at 9:30pm on Saturday. The sign on the door says they're open until 10:00pm but they had tables turned on their side and a stack of chairs about three feet inside the door. We went inside and asked if they were still open. The man behind the counter looked up from the magazine he was reading and asked if we were taking out or eating in. We said we were going to eat there, and he said it was fine. It was then up to us to move the chairs and tables so we could proceed to the counter. We looked at the menu and decided what we were going to order, and we told the man that we had a coupon, and showed it to him. He said they don't honor those coupons anymore. I said it expires 12/30/2014, as shown on the coupon. He said they don't have a contract With Entertainment anymore. So we chose to walk out based on principle. Between the meals my girlfriend and I were going to order, plus drinks, we would have easily spent close to $20 even with the $5 discount. I was extremely disappointed because I love kabob and if the food was good they would have made me a regular customer (and probably my girlfriend too). But instead they chose to be stubborn and unprofessional. I gave them one star because Yelp doesn't offer the option to give them zero stars. read more

Worst food I have ever purchased, possibly the worst I've ever eaten. Doesn't deserve one star. Falafal had no flavor at all, was really strange soft texture that was both greasy and black like it had been burned but without even a burned flavor. Like a soft and old wet batter had been dropped into lukewarm oil - as strange as it was gross. Hummus was consistency of cream, tasted like it was half hummus and half lemon juice. Olives were spoiled. Tatziki sauce was oily and broken, clearly quite old. Found a short curly blonde hair in one of our salads. Torshi was so old the vegetables couldn't be distinguished from each other and was so sour it was inedible (and I actually drink lemon juice straight) plus the container had a leak in the bottom so dripped everywhere. Pita was fine and rice was delicious. We got this as takeout and man was very nice and friendly; I even tipped for takeout which I seldom do. He gave us an extra pita and I'm glad because it and the rice were all we could eat. read more

DIRTY!!! The floor is sticky and the baseboards are coated in dirt. In the past, I have ordered the lamb kabob and it was delicious! The food is no longer delicious!!! I have eaten at Kabob hut twice. My first visit was pleasant ; however, I noticed that some of the tables had not been cleaned. I was purchasing takeout so it was not a major issue. On my second and last visit, the floor was sticky and it looked like it had not been cleaned in quite some time. Wow this place is delicious I was going there with my friends and I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and there famous home made steak and it was awesome butt then I saw something with watermelon mixed with this brown juice they gave me a free sample of it and it was.... WATERMELON ICED TEA!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. The lack of customer service in this place is only surpassed by their indifference towards their food. The lamb kabob for $15 was a joke. The quality of the lamb was poor and could not overcome what was not a bad preparation. The kashk-o-bademjam is described in the menu as sauteed eggplant, grilled onions, garlic and boiled yogurt. It tasted like scorched eggplant skin. Bizarre. The Greek salad was iceberg lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, a few sprinkles of feta, canned black olives, and an overpowering taste of lemon juice. The weirdest offering was the falafel sandwich. Although described in the menu as "vegetable patties made from chick peas, onions, garlic, parsley and spices," I think they forgot the chick peas. There as nothing patty-like about it, just strange plops of green things with lettuce, onions, one sliver of tomato, and a piece of pepperoncini (which actually added some interest). Even the rice needed salt to have any semblance of taste. What was good? The pita bread and the grilled onions that came with the lamb. I'd heard such good buzz about Kabob Hut, but sadly, this is a one and done. And I'm going to tell anyone who verbalizes a hint of an idea about going there to not waste their money. Seriously, I feel robbed. They should at least wear ski masks if they are going to take my money and give me crappy food in exchange. read more

When I arrived, I was shocked to see it was empty. Once I left (and after reading these reviews), I kind of understand why. We came to check out the buffet, but it looked quite sketchy, so we passed and ordered off the menu. We had the beef kabob wrap platter (whatever it is called - the lunch wrap with rice and salad). The guy was less than friendly when he took out order, and I apparently paid $3 for a cup of watermelon-infused iced tea (although it was quite tasty and one of the highlights of the meal). The one real winner was the fresh pita bread - it was freshly made, soft, still warm and like heaven! The meat was actually quite moist and tasty and well. The rice was not good for it to be a staple, the salad average. The place was not as filthy as the other reviews suggest (although it was by no means the cleanest place, I did not go into the bathroom, and I did not once observe the guy washing his hands as he prepared out meal). I actually want to return to try some of their specials and other items - they sounded tasty. While we were there, a second bad-attitude having employee arrived - they people I saw just seemed to generally dislike being in the restaurant business. read more

I want my money back. I worked all day craving kabobs ever since I saw this place across from THB. I went in and ordered a lamb kabob. Off the bat I noticed the prices were a bit steep, but still, I was craving it. The chef gruffly told me "No lamb." Alright, so the whole point of me coming here was ruined. And that's when I should've headed towards the door. But I was hungry. I ordered the beef skewer, and sat down awaiting my order to go. Little did I know I wouldn't be leaving that chair for the better part of a half hour. This left me time to notice just how unkempt and gross the place was in detail. The highlight of the scene was a sweating, obese man sitting across from me that wouldn't stop yelling into his phone while he shoveled rice into his mouth. I know that's of no fault to the restaurant, just a contributing factor into the growing anxiety I had sitting in the place. I didn't want to be there, I wanted my money back, and I wanted to leave. But still I held out. Certainly the food at least could prove me wrong.... NOPE! The bread was stale and tasteless, and to my delight, I opened the food container to find six little shriveled beef nuggets in a sea of rice. They took forever to chew, and didn't taste like $12. Nor did it fill me up like $12. Actually, I would've felt better donating that $12 to a charity, and starving that night. Or just rolling it up and eating it. Both wouldve been more satisfying than this experience. Don't go here. read more
