Such great food. Surprisingly, the french fries were a hit. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we'd normally order fries at other places and the fries would be soggy by the time we got home, or even when we eat them in the car. Not so for Kabob Cafe - great texture! Nice a crispy, great flavor. Definitely the surprise. I tried the lamb and ground chicken plate - really good. The meat is so tender and juicy. Rice cooked perfectly. Pita was nice and chewy. And the salad was good too! The baklava was amazing as well - pretty generous size. Not too sweet, and the pastry was crispy and not at all soggy. Had to cook some rice at home and add a salad to make it a meal. The hummus given was like a tiny ketchup sized cup. The babagounush was in a small cup barely butter than the condiment cup. I'm not sure if I was also supposed to receive pita bread but I did not and was reaching for it when eating the little hummus I had. Return - unlikely. This place is so awesome. The food is really tasty, portions are good, and the people that work here are super nice. We always get the gyro wrap in pita with spicy garlic sauce and 4 oz of meat. This wrap comes loaded! It has pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, garlic sauce, a ton of meat, and all nestled into a warm fluffy pita. There have been times where the pita was a bit dry and probably old though. The meat however is always juicy, tender, and flavorful. The interior is small but comfortable and there are a multitude of tables outside. Order at the counter and your food is brought to you...even if you're outdoors. I ordered the koobideh combo plate (beef and chicken). Koobideh is ground meat mixed with onion which is cooked on a skewer. My two proteins came with pita bread, rice, and salad. The vast amount of food justified the price (around $14 if I recall). Staff here were very friendly and warmly answered questions I had about plates I was unfamiliar with. The beef koobideh was quite good despite my being unaccustomed to the texture. The chicken koobideh was a bit on the bland side though. Pita, rice and salad were all excellent. The Greek salad was fresh and vibrant with feta, cucumber, tomato and olives atop the greens. I also sampled my spouse's beef kabob and found the meat to be very flavorful and tender. Definitely a healthier choice amongst the "fast food" eateries in this food court which will please the palate. read more

I love it when I find a hidden gem! I was craving gyros and Yelp led me to this new restaurant in Foothill Ranch. I'm not sure when they opened, but they had 4-1/2 stars and I figured it's worth a try. They're the newest contender located inside the Regal Food Court Towne Center in Foothill Ranch. Plenty of parking available in the open lot. The interior is modern and inviting. It's a fast casual place where you order at the cashier, take a number and find a seat indoors or outdoors. I arrived on a weekday soon after they opened at 11am. There were only 2 customers in front of me, but when I left 35 min later, there was a line near the door! It seemed there were a lot of workers from the nearby businesses who were coming in for a bite to eat. I witnessed the owner standing near the cashier, offering to explain the menu items to new customers. He was friendly and passionate about his restaurant. I already knew I wanted gyros, so I ordered the Beef & Lamb Gyro Plate for $11. Yes you read that correctly... just $11! It came with rice, salad, grilled tomato, pita & tzatziki. It took about 15 min for the food to come out, but once it arrived, I couldn't believe how much food was on that plate! My photo doesn't do it justice - it was A LOT of food! My first bite was incredible. Subsequent bites and I was in heaven! Everything was very fresh. The salad was crisp. The beef & lamb gyro was so flavorful. As a vegan, I don't typically eat at a lot of places where meat is the stand out of most dishes however, my girlfriends parents started going here and bringing me back the hummus. It's some of the best hummus I have had and I have traveled quite extensively all over the world. The person who helped me (who i think was the owner named Sid?) knows now that I am Vegan and recommended the pita that was vegan and went out of his way to make sure there was no cross contamination of any kind. Removed the sauces in the bag that weren't vegan and was super kind and made me feel comfortable. Now it's one of my favorite places to eat. I would highly recommend them. Half a star if I could. The service was very slow. Their "complete" double meat plate doesn't come with rice even though the menu states it does. Yes, there's an option to substitute or add more sides. But really? A complete meal without something so basic? Moreover, when you do add extra sides such as pita bread and hummus -- they give you four tiny pieces of bread. Rice doesn't cost that much to include in a meal that was originally advertised as a "complete meal." The entire meal for 2 people came out to be around $60...and they couldn't add 1 cup of rice to it. Went to Kabob Cafe just after Noon on a Monday. The place wasn't busy; there was a table of two and we were the only other party (two). The person taking the order was pleasant enough, took our order without issue. After we sat there were three other orders that came in after us. We waited more than 30 mins to get our (to go order) and only after realizing that all three of the parties received their food before us did I inquire about my order. Apparently, it was prepared and sitting in the table behind them. There was a women helping expedite orders but did bother to check the bagged to go food. We finally got our food without any apology. This said, my three star rating wasn't based on service. The three stars was strictly based on food taste and quality. The food wasn't bad by any means but it wasn't any better than anywhere else for a little less. I won't be going back but I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it out themselves.
