Obaid Kitchen serves up Syrian Middle Eastern food. All the food served here is HALAL. I had placed an order for a mixed kebab platter for a gathering. Unfortunately I didn't check the platter till I got home. Mixed Kebab for 5 ($80) - This plate is supposed to come with 3 skewers each of (tawook, kefta, beef kabobs), beef shawarma, chicken shawarma, salad, rice, fries, garlic sauce, tahini, grilled vegetables. The plate was missing the shawarma meats, fries, and some of the grilled vegetables. I saw a picture from someone's Yelp review that did have the shawarma meats and clearly I was not provided with that. The food was just ok, nothing really stood out except the beef kabobs were tender and juicy. Overall, I'm disappointed that they didn't include all the items mentioned on the menu. I did see someone's Yelp review from February and the same thing happened to him. When he complained to the management, they gave him some additional items and told him our menu has changed. If the menu has changed, then it should be updated, it's been over 5 months! Also the platter as it was provided to me is definitely not enough for 5 people. A new Mediterranean cuisine with a familiar menu and items that people crave. From Shawerma to Kabobs you can find a little bit of everything here. For some reason I was craving some Shawerma so I had ordered their Shawerma Plate which comes with Beef and Chicken Shawerma along with some salad, hummus, pita bread and rice. To my dismay, the both meats were very dry. I feel like it lacked seasoning as it had no flavor unless I covered it with their garlic sauce. Obaid replaced the Garden Mediterranean grill and not in a good way. We went for dinner during the soft opening and this would've been the time to impress their customers. The server didn't really speak English (maybe he didn't want to) and seemed confused when was asked to recommend a dish that's popular. We ended up getting the hummus and to my surprise it came with one thin pita that was sliced in half and placed on top of the cheese pastry. Food presentation was non existent. He got my friend's order wrong even after she repeated herself twice. What made the experience ever worse was the fact that the server was attentice to the other tables because they all spoke the same language. Came in to order chicken and was taken back by the hospitality and size of plate. I ordered a chicken plate with an extra skewer of Chicken and side of Baba ganouch. The plate came out loaded with two skewers of chicken on a large bed of rice with a salad and Hummus. I over ordered but it was ok. We took some food home and the quality and quantity really make you want to return. Solid service , great food quality and quiet seating area was a great way to relax after a long week. read more

I stopped by today to try out this new shawarma spot. As someone Lebanese who's grown up around really good food, I'd say this place is pretty solid. We ordered a beef shawarma sandwich and a chicken shawarma plate. The beef sandwich, which came with fries, was tasty. The chicken plate included salad, rice, and hummus--the salad was fresh and flavorful, the hummus was just okay, and the chicken itself was a little on the dry side. To be fair, we came toward the end of the day, so the shawarma wasn't as fresh as it would be earlier. Since shawarma is best when it's cut straight off the spit, I'd recommend coming earlier in the day for the best experience. Overall, definitely a good spot worth trying! read more

New Syrian restaurant that's a gem!! I ordered the chicken shawarma and it comes with side of fries, garlic sauce, cole slaw and veggies. The fries had a dash of cumin on top just like they make it in the Middle East. SO good and really crispy. The chicken shawarma was cooked to perfection with little pieces of extra chicken generously placed on top. My only con is the type of bread they use for the sandwich, it's good just not great. Big overall big plate for $12. It's worth it, not too expensive. The workers and owner are super nice. We decided to try this newer Mediterranean spot in Foothill Ranch this past week. We were not disappointed, the food is outstanding! My wife got the chicken shawarma plate, the chicken is delicious, as was the rice, hummus, and salad. I had the chicken shawarma wrap, which was also delicious, as were the fries that came with it. We also had a side of pita bread which was nice and light. They also have an outdoor patio where they allow dogs, so we were excited about that because we take our pup just about everywhere with us. This restaurant was empty during lunch time which should have been a sign to me. The menu on the TV does not display the full menu. This was confusing as the server was mentioning items not on the menu until he gave me a paper menu. I ordered to go two meals and a kids meal. I clearly said kids meal but the server took my order as a regular sandwich - I didn't fight them on this and just accepted my incorrect order. Lastly, the food was so subpar to any other Mediterranean restaurant nearby. This was a salty spoon! the chicken shawarma sandwich was so salty my daughter couldn't even get through it. The staff member acknowledged the customer ahead of us, speaking to them in Persian, but once they left, he completely ignored us--no greeting, no eye contact, no offer of assistance. The beef shawarma was delicious, chicken shawarma was really good too; and both were great as a sandwich and as a plate (cuz rice was yummy).. the rotisserie chicken was delicious as well. The price is fair for the area and portions weren't bad either, especially the half rotisserie chicken plate was quite substantial! This had the flavor of the restaurants in Garden Grove, but soo much closer for me. Still choose Garden Grove restaurants hands down, but I'm DEFINITELY coming here again!! Very poor experience all around. The restaurant is so plain and ugly on the inside it makes you question whether they're even open for business yet, and there are no menus available at the front. When I asked for a menu the guy at the counter looked confused (??) and he immediately walked away after I paid for my food-- no "thank you" or "we'll have that out for you shortly" or anything. I didn't even get a chance to let him know that I'll be waiting outside... Anyway, I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and waited 30 minutes for it!! It may have taken even longer had I not gone up to them twice asking what was taking so long. When I finally got my food they just gave me the plate without even a napkin or utensil which is really bare minimum customer service for a sit-down style restaurant. As for the food: it was easily the worst shawarma I've ever had. The bread they use for it is wrong (way too dry and flaky) and the chicken itself was very dry and flavorless. The fries and garlic sauce were fine. I'm sad to give a POC owned restaurant such a bad review but the experience was honestly bad. They apologized and tried to make up for it by giving us some free desserts before we left but even that arrived to us sooo last minute (the exact moment that we stood up to leave) and the desserts weren't very good either.
