I'm so embarrassed that this is supposed to represent a Syrian restaurant. They are so rude and disrespectful. I went with my family on Eid and was so disappointed. The food didn't come out together we all ordered shawarma they brought one plate and then 20 min later brought the rest. We got some apps but no bread. Ice machine was broken and the soda was all flat. The atmosphere was just sad. Syrians are known to be kind and generous people. read more

Both the chef and order taker were disrespectful and had zero customer service skills. I ordered 5 sandwiches but was charged 5 plates instead. Delicious food! We've been to many middle eastern restaurants in OC and have to say this is one of a few that do a wonderful job. Their dishes are very flavorful and are not dry! We had a combo dish with lamb ribs, beef kabob, chicken kabob and kafta with salad and hummus--- highly recommend!! read more

Obaid Kitchen is a new spot in Lake Forest, CA. This restaurant offer a tasty Syrian bite. We tried their Mediterranean Cuisine for the first time, we ordered the Mix Kabab and the beef Kabab. Both plates came with delicious green salads, rice, and humus. Everything was delicious. We also tried the falafel plate and it didn't disappoint. I've given this restaurant a few chances and all my experiences have been below par. Let's start with the best part that earned the review a second star - the hummus is really good. That's where the good ends. Everything else is just bad. The worst is the customer service. It truly feels like they don't care about anyone who might not be from their own community. On several occasions, I've just been ignored despite being ahead in line. And when you finally have their attention, they are curt. The rest of the menu is routinely underwhelming. The meats are dry. The presentation is just not there. I attended their Iftar dinner with high expectations because it was advertised really nicely by some food influencers on Instagram and again, it was just bad. The food was mediocre but the service was abysmal. The guy serving the dessert made me feel like I was scamming him. I was there with my dad and decided I would get dessert for him too. The guy serving was making sure the guests only got one dessert which is crazy anyway. When I asked for a second, he gestured to me like I had already got my one tiny desert until I had to explain to him by pointing at the second paying guest. It was embarrassing. I don't see this place lasting long. What a downgrade from the restaurant that previously occupied this space (Garden Mediterranean). read more

Went there for a birthday party and really enjoyed the food. I had Kebab combo and others had shawarmas. Nice flavors and everything tasted fresh. Our waiter was Abood, he was nice and gave us complimentary pieces of baklava after dinner! I picked up a couple of boxes of baklava to take home! This place was excellent. We ordered the fried chicken, Kabab Mix, some hummus and pita, and baklava. All the food was fresh and flavorful. The fried chicken was surprising and amazing with a maple flavor thanks to the use of Fenugreek in it. The chicken came with waffle fries that were also soooo good. I would not have thought Syrian food would have amazing fried chicken, but this is soooo good. It all tasted homemade and from scratch. I am definitely going back. read more

They were very accommodating and friendly to us, and our host went out of his way to make our experience enjoyable. This is a new restaurant and they are likely still figuring some things out so my review rating is aspirational for what I see them becoming. They give generous portions of food and we were able to share a plate between two people by adding on one extra kabob. They helped us understand the menu and let us know we didn't need to order the extra hummus because a generous portion was already included with our plate. They even gave me a free drink when I declined to order one. The restaurant is clean spacious and well lit, the ambient music was Taylor Swift. My one complaint would be the baba ganoush was a little bitter. But that can happen with some eggplants or when olive oil is blended too much. We enjoyed our experience and wish them well. read more

I recently stopped by Obaid Kitchen with my family from Damascus syria, and wow, what a great find! The food here is absolutely amazing, and you can tell they put a lot of effort into everything they serve!! I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, and it was honestly one of the best I've had. The chicken was super juicy and full of flavor, and the sides were fresh and delicious. The hummus was so smooth, the kibbeh was perfectly balanced, and the garlic sauce--don't even get me started, it was so good. You can really tell they care about using fresh ingredients. We also tried the knafe for dessert, and it was the perfect way to end the meal--crispy, sweet, but not overwhelming. It paired perfectly with a cup of coffee. The service here is the worst, the guy at the cashier is very rude, we ordered the $80 mix kabab for 5 people, it comes with mixed kabab plate & shawarma, salad, hummus, and French fries, we waited 25 minutes to get the food (not bad) but then they only brought the mixed kabab plate, no shawarma, no fries, no salad. And then we asked the tall guy at the cashier can we get the rest of the order, he answered you've got everything, the shawarma and the fries and salad were written on the menu by mistake!! I was like WHAT? are you series? Anyway he noticed that we are upset so he brought the smallest plate he has and put a tiny pieces of chicken and beef Shawarma that is not enough for a little kid, and the worst part is he shoved it on the table like you want it ok here you go! They are misleading on Too good to go. They said they are closed when I called at 8:15 pm and the pick up time was between 8 and 9 on Sunday. On yelp it has 9 as close time and google has 2 different times. The lady who picked up the phone was not able to understand or speak English well. She didn't understand a thing. She was placing an order for me when I said I bought a pack of surprise shwarma. She didn't understand and then hung up. Why you even open a store when your english is so bad that you can't communicate and decide to be rude...you are going to get a bad review. From one immigrant to another...learn to assimilate and learn the language of the country you are living in instead of bring rude. Never order from here. read more
