Beyond overjoyed to see Mike (Mehrdad) reopen in the same spot in Lake Forest after being closed down for roughly 8 months. The new Kabob Grill has the same great and warm service as the previous Kabob Express and the food is still impeccable as it previously was as well. The Koobideh was perfectly grilled and the sangak bread came out hot and fresh as always. I recently stopped by for lunch and tried the beef and chicken koobideh plate, and it was absolutely delicious! The kababs were so tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. I don't think I've had meat this tasty in Orange County. The gentleman in the kitchen who handed me my food was also very nice and friendly, which made the experience even better. The restaurant had a perfect 5 rating on Yelp and now I understand why and can add my highest rating as well. Mike greeted me when I arrived and kindly assisted with the order kiosk, and then brought some pita, sangak bread and hummus for our enjoyment while our food was being prepared. I had the filet mignon and the kobeda, and both were fantastic. My wife got the charbroiled chicken, which was just as good. Beyond the amazing food, the service was top-notch. I was shopping in the center with my two young children when my daughter, who is only a couple of months old, got hungry and needed a bottle. I needed hot water to prepare it, so I stopped by the restaurant to ask if they happened to have any. Since it seemed to be a Persian restaurant, I figured there was a good chance they would have hot water for tea. I asked one of the gentlemen working there, and he was incredibly kind and understanding. As a mom, I sometimes feel uncomfortable asking for help, and in that moment my daughter was crying, I had both kids with me, and I was feeling really overwhelmed. The kindness and willingness to help immediately made me feel so much less anxious. What really touched me was that I noticed he went and opened a brand new kettle from a box just to boil some water for me. He truly went out of his way to help a mom who was having a stressful moment, and I'll never forget that small act of kindness. While I waited for the water, I also noticed how incredibly clean and organized the restaurant was. The ordering system looked very efficient, the food smelled and looked amazing, and every customer I saw seemed happy with their meals. I didn't get the chance to eat here this time, but I absolutely wanted to leave a review and support this business. Kindness like that deserves to be recognized.
