Butter Chicken and Fish Pakora
Shreya G.

We went here for the buffet. We had a large group and they were easily able to accommodate us. I tried the butter chicken, Shahi paneer, and fish pakora. It was ok, the chicken was a bit dry. Certainly not the best restaurant you'll ever eat at but also not the worst

Kabila is an Indian restaurant located in Magnolia Square near the Danville Costco. They operate in the space next to See's Candies. I met my buddy George F. for lunch here on 12/01/2025. We walked in at around 12:30pm and were immediately seated by the staff. The interior was clean and well lit. Vibe was cozy and casual. Their lunch buffet featured more than a dozen classic meat and vegetarian options, plus salad, chai tea, and desserts. I tried most of their offerings and my favorites were the butter chicken and goat curry. Both were authentic and delicious. Service we received was good. The staff stopped by several times to drop off naan bread, clear used plates, and refill water. The total, with tax and tip, was about $42. I enjoyed my experience here, and will definitely return in the future. 4 stars.

There is a reason that I have been here ~4 times in the last month. And that is simply because it is delicious. They have a lunch buffet Monday - Fridays from 11:30 - 2:30 for $20. They also have Indian Sweets on the other side of the restaurant. Their prices are a bit lower than some of the other places in the area that I've seen, and they're so tasty that I haven't seen any reason to go anywhere else for my Indian food. Restaurant itself is large and spacious, with plenty of seating. It's been a good experience every time that I have gone, and I plan to continue going.

Continues to be a great place for my fav Punjabi cuisine! Go check it out! Kadi Chawal and bhindi are always my go to.

Love the weekday buffet here. Have not been here in a while, good is still good. Service was fast especially for the naan. Ambiance was nice: very roomy and lots of varieties of different choices of food items.

buffet: $19 M-F, $25 wknd | Goat Curry (fav), Tandoori & Butter Chix (noms sauce), Saag Paneer, Pakora, Naan, Cucumber, Barfi, Kheer, & Chai

* foodie DEETS here * - review #201 I was initially brought here after fam came for a work lunch, but no buffet on Sats back then. We tried the Union City locay later, but that was much smaller & OG. Thereafter, we came back a couple of times to enjoy this spread. T L ; D R . . . AYCE lunch buffet, 11:30a-2:30p: $19 M-F & $25 wknds (since 4/2025) w/ more items incl pani puri, chaat, & lassi. Good variety of flavorful dishes, but minimal table service. Kept having to shoo flies away throughout my 1st meal, but not by the time I just returned 4.5 mos later. V I B E S . . . After passing their bakery next door, enter into this decent sized resto divided by long banquettes, accompanied by wooden tables & padded chairs. Host/cashier & bar on the left side w/ the buffet along the back wall. N O M S . . . Tried the following: - Karahi Goat | bone-in curry is the reason I go to Indian spots!! spicy tho - Butter Chix | alwaz my fav sauce anywhere - Tandoori Chix | dry - Fish Pakora | crispy df filets, fam's go-to. Mixed Veg avail. - several Veg dishes - Saag Paneer | sautéed spinach not alwaz avail, unfortunately - 3 kinds of Biryani Rice: plain, egg (best), veg (eh) - Cucumbers | old, soggy. I eat them w/ mint cilantro chutney. - Naan | bread basket fresh to table - no soup - Choc Barfi/Burfi | condensed milk squares. too bad they only put out 1 lil tray & wouldn't refill during my 1st visit. - Besan(?) & White Pistachio Barfi | Indian fudge squares, but not creamy. Rather, grainy. Still enjoyable tho some white ones were old. - Kheer | rice pudding, mid w/ lots of soft grains & seemingly less juice here D R I N K S . . . - Chai Tea | milky noms helps calm the spice & gives caffeine kick S E R V I C E , e t c . . . Chubby man is the most friendly. Others not too approachable esp the younger female who was a freakin "mute" hating her job. (Think she had long hair). We tried asked her for things 2-3x. She straight up says nothing in return & just walks away! Rude & unprofessional af. The last time, she eventually returned w/ a brief answer. Weird not to have a place to write a tip on the cc receipt. Guess they don't want any. Prob y they're the way they r. - Return? Def for my goat fix & the price - Restroom sitch (helps gauge resto's cleanliness): decent. 2 enclosed toilet rooms w/in the ladies' to blow up, which most newbs do when Indian curry shocks ur system. IYKYK, lol. - Out the door for 2ppl: 42. - Apple Pay: Yep, who doesn't these days? P.S. If u found what I spent time on to be of help, show this (Asian) sista some love by SMASHing a reaction & FOLLOWing me if u don't already!! ;-P Thx in advance & may there be more noms in our futures...

I went in hoping for a buffet and got exactly that! Great options for vegetarians and each dish I had was delicious. Had the butter chicken, paneer dish, tandoori chicken, chai, mango lassi, naan, and goat dish. Will be coming back when I'm in the east Bay Area. Service was quick when we needed naan and when we needed to be seated when we arrived. Besides that, it was ayce buffet. Beware of the hours but we came in 1 hr before close as all the items were still out and we were able to dine in. The place wasn't too crowded and the ambiance was great. I definitely recommend the place and will be returning!

Food was good and music was good too. Only drawback was they forgot to bring our vegetable biryani from the order we placed and bought it after 2-3 times reminder, so we had to pack it and take it home.

Wide variety of delicious foods. The hostess and server were very nice, accommodating, and expedient. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with lovely light fixtures and all of the buffet chafers are copper and gold adding to the regal splendor of the atmosphere. I absolutely loved it!

Spacious bright space and friendly server Good spot to stop after our Costco run 2 veggie entrees + naan was more than we needed for lunch. Decent renditions A tad spicy for this no- spice girl but manageable

We were way late for our dinner reservation but the manager, Aman(?!) was warm and welcoming. The bartender (name?) also doubled as a server. Very helpful with our cocktail orders. Extensive bar. There were six of us, so we had three appetizers, four entrees and a dessert. Impressive plating! He visited us at the table to ensure everyone was happy. As you may know from my reviews, the experience is more important to me than the food. Given that this is a "mall restaurant!," I was blown away! Though not officially advertised, I think the place is Punjabi, the rajma chawal is a clear giveaway. The biggest compliment I can give them is that the food was not overly spiced or oiled, which a majority of Indian restaurants are guilty of in order to satisfy the customers. I find that to be 'cheating' in a way, where they are not confident of their abilities to truly shine through the flavor of the dish they're cooking. Clove instead brings out the authentic flavors of the different dishes, like the dal and the aloo by using gentle spices, kadi patta and a bit of ghee. It's like having dessert in Asian countries and actually tasting the underlying flavors like ube, or lemon, or matcha, and not just tasting an overload of sugar. Another funny note. My wife's stomach felt totally fine after, and she usually is queasy after rich restaurant food, especially Indian. Also loved that the roti did not come lathered in ghee and came plain with some simple onions on top. Very authentic. Service was fantastic.

Raj was the only server, and although he is excellent, it was a challenge for him to support the 20+ customers across 6 - 7 tables. This location has a new restaurant every few years. Cleanliness: although the dining area was fine, the rest rooms and passages need work. Okay, now the best part! The food was delicious! We ordered beer, multiple appetizers, entrees, different rotis and desserts. They ranged from good to excellent! The favorite was the badami chicken. The gravy for the tawa chicken tasted amazing, but there was hardly any chicken there. Got a mumbled reply when we pointed that out. The food came out slow and staggered, even with the robot runner. However, our experience was deeply disappointing from start to finish. First, when we called ahead to inquire about the menu options, we were told they couldn't share it due to "company policy." Despite that red flag, the ambiance and location looked great, so we decided to give it a try. We were also surprised to find out that customers are required to pay upfront before eating, which felt awkward and unusual. The real issue, however, was the food and hygiene: Cross-Contamination: As soon as we took our first bites of the appetizers (fryums, kachori, and cutlets), we immediately tasted and smelled fish oil. It was glaringly obvious that they were using the exact same oil to fry both vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, which is completely unacceptable for a vegetarian buffet. Cleanliness: To make matters worse, the dishes provided were not washed cleanly. Lack of Accountability: When we politely brought this to the waiter's attention, he simply said he would "pass the message to the chef." There was no apology offered, no follow-up, and zero courtesy shown to us as paying customers. We ended up having to rely on just some garlic naan, paneer, and sweets. For $30 a person, this was definitely not worth it. Given the careless handling of dietary preferences and poor service, I cannot recommend this place for vegetarians. I cannot speak to the non-veg perspective, but as a vegetarian dining experience, this was a complete failure.
