Kabisera at Canal Market Hall serves Filipino homestyle comfort food…read more We came here on a Sunday for lunch, and it was not that crowded. Ordering and paying is a breeze through a computerized kiosk. My partner ordered teriyaki salmon with adobo rice and pickles, while I opted for Pinoy katsu; a pan-fried chicken cutlet with a coconut curry base served with adobo rice and pickles as well. The dishes went well with chilled local beer. We found the portion very filling. The dishes did not particularly blow us away but were nothing off-putting. Overall, with a good price point and service, it's a good place to go for a hassle-free lunch.

I love the distinctive flavor of pandan in any form and wanted to give this place a shout out. Pandan is foundational in Thai, Malaysian, Indonesian, Filipino, Sri Lankan, and South Indian sweets, it is used in traditional cakes, custards, and rice-based desserts. I miss the Pandan Chiffon cake that I ate in Singapore as a child so I'm always on the hunt for that taste.

Now that's a Taco Bell!…read more Me and my friends are pretty obsessed with Taco Bell menu items these days, so when I spent the day in NYC and saw there was a Cantina right where I'd be, I knew I had to stop in! And we were absolutely thrilled. Alcoholic Baja Blasts, legendary stuff. The ordering kiosks were relatively typical of most Taco Bells. Simple, easy service, and the staff quickly called out my name. I ordered a Baja Blast with vodka, so they checked my ID and then handed me the drink. Getting a seat took a bit, but I snagged a booth once someone left and was able to enjoy my meal sitting down. There's definitely not enough space for a busy hour like the time I went though (4pm on a Sunday). The food was typical Taco Bell food. The nacho fries obviously delicious, doritos locos taco was great. We did run into some trouble with getting water--it was hard to get ahold of the employees, and then when we did, they told us they could not give us any free water cups. I'm not sure if that's common in NYC, but it was upsetting that we weren't able to get water from this location even after buying a meal and paying. Service was quick but it was difficult to talk to a person, seating was difficult but manageable, no free water, but I got my order accurately and I was thrilled to have a baja blast with vodka. Overall about what I'd hope for!

This place was absolutely mobbed on a Saturday night, I was lucky to grab two seats. There was a long line of folks waiting for their order when I got here. Despite the chaos this Taco Bell was decently clean. The food order came out correctly, I appreciated that there was a ton of sauce packets and napkins filled up at one station so that it was easy to grab what you needed. This is a Taco Bell Cantina, so you can also order beers and alcoholic Baja Blasts if that's your vibe. If you're craving Taco Bell while walking through Times Square, this will do just fine.

I came…read morepretty close to closing time, around 11 PM, and unfortunately it definitely felt like I was getting whatever was left at the end of the night. Service was average. The guy working the cart was friendly enough, although I'll admit it was difficult to tell whether he was talking to me or the person on his AirPods half the time. The food itself was prepared pretty quickly, about what you would expect from most halal carts in the city. I didn't actually dig into the meal until I was on the bus, and that's when I was a little disappointed. The container was barely about two-thirds full, which felt pretty light compared with the portions you normally expect from a halal cart. The rice was noticeably dry, and the salad was already pretty wilted. Thankfully, the meat itself was on point and easily the best part of the meal. One important warning: the red sauce here is ACTUALLY spicy. If you normally load up on red sauce at other halal carts without thinking twice, I would definitely go a little easier here unless you really like heat. Overall, it was a disappointing first visit. That said, I recognize that showing up around closing time probably isn't the best way to judge any food cart, especially one that has been serving people all day. I'd be willing to give them another chance earlier in the day when everything is fresher, but based solely on this experience, it's 2 stars for now.
