Came here upon the invite of some Wichita friends and I was pleasantly surprised how friendly and clean this place was! Typically most Indian restaurants are not clean and typically does not feel hygienic. The wait staff were very patient and friendly! The food is very North Indian to say the least!! Kababs is very North Indian dish! The food was fresh and hot at the Buffet and there were ample different dishes to try out! They gave an endless supply of Naan to dip in all the curries. We ate the Sunday lunch buffet today. Everything I ate (and I ate most everything) was very tasty. And the three young folks working the dining room were VERY kind and VERY attentive. Overall it was a pleasant experience. Two concerns. First, most of the dishes on the hot (temperature, not spice) buffet were simply warm. Some were closer to room temperature. I was so looking forward to a great meal of Indian food after reading the great reviews on Yelp but that fell short tonight. We ordered the chicken tikka kabob, beef kabob, garlic naan, and vegetable samosas. The samosas were actually very good. The kabobs were just ok. The rice we chose as a side was oily, which was a bit odd. The garlic naan was unlike any naan I ever had and was nearly inedible. The naan was garlicky I will say that but it was very flat, dense, and tough, not a light fluffy naan I'm accustomed to. I'm visiting from SF and met a friend for the lunch buffet, it's one of his favorite places to go and loves the naan bread. We got seated and got our drinks and a glove to use to for the ladles for each of the items in the buffet. I thought that was quite clever. Ambience was alright, there is an annoying sound that says 'front door' whenever it opens. The food was mediocre. The stuff I had was a bit dry and didn't have that much flavor. I typically go for the Sunday buffet because there are many choices. My favorite dish is Nihari Beef. Be sure and spoon the delicious beef broth over the rice. Passage to India also has a buffet but it it's mostly vegetarian so I prefer Kabobs. read more

We came in for the buffet. They have a good variety to choose from. They give you a plate of freshly baked naan. I came back twice for the chicken curry and tandoori chicken. The beef korma with fried onions was excellent. The rice pudding and carrot halwa were a sweet ending to a very filling meal! read more

This is an Indian buffet-style restaurant. I'm originally from Los Angeles, CA and was visiting some family. The day I visited 07/29, it was INSANELY hot, both outside and inside. You'd expect restaurants and stores to have AC, but it did not. Maybe this was just that specific day, but box fans were on inside the restaurant, but it didn't help; it was just recirculating warm, hot air. I'm not kidding when I say it was hot inside. I much preferred the outside temperature than the inside temperature. I can't imagine what it must've been like in the kitchen. Definitely felt bad for the employees as they kept readjusting the box fans to try to get some cold air. They tried their best to keep us comfortable, so props to them. Now, I'm not sure how (or even if) OSHA laws apply here, but this was most definitely without a doubt 100% an OSHA violation. Maybe the AC wasn't working, which is totally understandable; things happen! But there should've been a sign that said "AC isn't working" or employees letting patrons know the AC wasn't working before seating them. In fact, the store shouldn't have even opened lol. But that's just me! In terms of the food, it was mid. Speaking as a South Asian/desi, I feel like food here is more catered towards the non-South Asian palate (considering it's Kansas), if you know what I mean (iykyk lol). The selection wasn't bad, but it could've been better. I didn't really find any of the food flavorful or savory or anything like that. The butter chicken wasn't too bad! However, I do think that my experience overall was soiled because there wasn't any AC. Maybe next time I'm back in Kansas I can give it another go. read more

This was my first visit to Kababs. I wanted to order Indian Food from the menu, but there was a little language barrier between me and my waiter and he wasn't present frequently during the first part of my arrival, so I opted for the buffet which was good. The buffet had a lot of variety but I would definitely like to try the menu during my next visit. Just tried them for the first time. It was delicious. Don't get the side order of fries, undercooked, but it's Indian food. The beef samosas are just crazy good. Definitely, grabbing them again as a quick lunch. I liked their naan and humus as well as the Partha Chicken Roll. The young guy working the front, was very friendly. TL;DR, amazing food, especially for the price. So, if you're in the midwest and just have a hankering for some Indian food, this is the place to go. They've got an excellent buffet that has a variety of choices. Now, I'm not one for buffet style eating; the '90's pretty much killed that for me with Ryan's, Hometown Buffet, Golden Corral et al. Watching other patrons go up to the buffet line and handle the foods with their grubby booger-pickers quickly killed any sort of buffet for me... including in Vegas. This place, however; broke me of my phobia of buffets. We arrived shortly after the lunch rush, and the place was thinning out. Mostly business people sorts, none of which I presume would fondle the foods on the buffet line. Quite a nice little atmosphere that they've got going on. Service was a bit slow once we were seated and given menus. Never having been there before, and not knowing the norm, we weren't sure if we just start to the buffet if that's what we wanted, or wait until after the wait staff takes our drink order. Once the very nice waitress came and explained the flow, we jumped right into the buffet. The menu is simple, but perhaps daunting to those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine as it lacks detailed descriptions of menu choices. Pro tip: just go to the buffet and sample everything. The plate size for the buffet necessitates multiple trips, which is a down side for some of us with mobility issues getting in and out of the booths or off of chairs, so there's that. But the quality of the foods far surpasses any inconveniences garnered by having to make multiple trips. I sincerely wish I had found this hidden gem much sooner than I did. The staff are great. The food not so much. I ordered sag paneer and it was loaded with salt. As soon as I bit into the paneer I had to spit it out. The paneer they used is rotten or something. It tasted spoiled. I don't how one can even consider serving spoiled food to someone. Pretty messed up. Rice was salty as well. Naan was okay. Half the images shown on the website or advertisements are not included in the buffet (though it is suggested they are). The quality of the food seemed to vary from dish to dish and around 80% of the options looked unappetizing. My stomach is now in pain and I plan to never come back. Kabab's is definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in the Wichita area. They offer an extensive menu but, better yet, they have a lovely buffet with complimentary naan, complimentary chai. The buffet usually features carrot halwa for dessert and rice pudding. There is a salad and condiment bar with green mint sauce, raita, Tamirand sauce, hummus, tabouleh. The buffet offers a selection of vegetarian and meat dishes with three kinds of rice or biryani. Of course, chicken Tikka masala is delicious. Other dishes include beef and chicken. It should also be said, the atmosphere of this restaurant is more upscale than any of their local competitors. The Monday- Thursday buffet is priced at $16.99, so a fair value as well. read more

This was my first experience with Indian/Pakistani cuisine, and this is a great place for an introduction. They have a decently sized buffet that runs until 9, and the food is always hot and being stirred and refilled consistently. I particularly enjoyed the chicken curry and masala dishes, which I went for seconds(maybe even thirds). We visited Kababs based on the recommendation of a friend. My friend took us there over lunch. I was impressed when I walked in the door. We were there for the lunch buffet. The restaurant looked more like a fine dining restaurant. The food on the buffet was fresh. The quality of food was excellent. It was some of the best Indian food I have eaten in a long time. The buffet tiki masala was better than the tiki masala I have ordered at more formal restaurants. My son and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend this Indian restaurant to friends and relatives. The buffet set up is really nice. There are many options to choose from. Majority of the protein is chicken. There was however, a tender beef dish (Nihari) that had great flavor. The hummus and pita chips were tasty. All the food was mild, which I understand, but I wish there was a few dishes or something to bring out the heat. I usually get my food spicy. The waiter brought out naan, which was pipping hot and delicious! It would be helpful to label all the dishes including the cold bar area. One thing that I couldn't stop commenting on was the arrangement of the tables. The waiter had to push tables in or to the side to make sure that guest weren't running into chairs while going to the buffet line. I understand maximizing the space at hand, however, cramming people in a area is counterproductive. Individuals in my party were still having to tell people to scoot in as they pass.
