To be entirely honest, I wasn't really impressed with the kebabs in Amsterdam when compared to countries like Germany and the United Kingdom, but Kabab House had a product that was better than other's I had.
Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere?
When you're out late at 0300 on a Sunday morning in the Dam, there aren't as many options open as you might think, but when I spotted a line of five or so people outside of Kabab House I opted to give it a go. Service was extremely fast and as friendly as I could have hoped for at the time, so no complaints here. Star Granted.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
€6,50 was a euro more than I paid out in the suburbs earlier in the day for a kebab of poorer quality, but my kebab here at kabab house was quite a bit bigger than that kebab as well. While I could have hoped for a tad bit more in the form of lettuce, etc., this was filling, so I can't complain about the value. Star Granted.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
Better than my earlier kebab, but that honestly isn't saying much. I died a little bit on the inside when I saw my server dish up the meat from a heater tray as opposed to shaving it off of the spit, but I'm finding that's more and more common these days. The meat quality was suitable but nothing to write home about, and it was the very small portions of lettuce and virtually tasteless sauces that had me longing for a bit more. I will say that my wrap was quite good, and flavored the whole thing up a bit. Additionally, it's admirable that this wasn't the greasy mess that seems to be commonplace elsewhere. All in all, acceptable, but a bit too close for comfort to giving no stars here. Single Star Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
If I'm up at 0300 on a Sunday every morning? Maybe, but I'm not, so no. No Star Granted. read more
