I had the Lamb sandwich. It was very good. The lamb cubes were juicy and tender. Pita bread was grilled very nicely. I think the sauce in the sandwich was a little weak, but the quality of the lamb cubes were soooooo good that I can over see the rest. The side of tomato/onion I picked has a extremely strong odor of the fridge. That was pretty bad. The Yogurt drink was good, make sure you shake it well before drinking. What I find strange was the lady at the counter. She was cold. I mean she said welcome, thank you, etc. But it was very distanced. She asked me what I want, I said this is my first time, I don't know yet. She was quiet, didn't say take your time, or give me any recommendation, etc. Same thing when I pick the side. She pointed to the display. Didn't tell me what they are. After I ordered and paid, she walked away without saying anything. I don't know am I suppose to wait at the counter or go sit down? After 1 min, I figured I go sit down. I don't know maybe she was having a bad day. They kept the seating area very clean. But again, the side dishes from the fridge display is just right out bad. I was disappointed with my experience at Kabab Cafe. My meal was mediocre. My salad was lacking lettuce and was overwhelmed with dressing/ sauce. I feel like everything was really pricey. This place is my all time favorite. Don't let the dive-y/cafeteria ambiance fool you. The food is great - it is my comfort food, when I'm too tired to make some Indian food and want take out I head to Kebab Cafe. I personally like the rice combos and have never tried the sandwiches. Kebab Cafe is great food every time! The koobideh (beef) kebab and the Khoreahteh Gosh (meat stew) are my absolute favorite and always have flavor. Their baba ghanouj is super garlicky, which is overwhelming for a garlic lover like me. Their lamb and rice was delicious so definitely give that a try! Summary: Wow. Great food, Great service, Inexpensive Walking by Kabab Cafe, you'd never guess that the place was indeed this awesome. It's located in the Gateway Shopping Center, a strip mall in Wayne, and has a relatively nondescript sign and storefront. But that's a good thing. You want this place to be low-key, just so that there's more for yourself. We went for a group lunch with my work colleagues, a few of whom had been there before and highly recommended it. I got the Falafel platter, and was not at all disappointed. (Note: the veggie kabab looked really good too!) The falafel was freshly made, tasted awesome, and was spot-on perfect. Haven't had that since my days back in the Middle East. It is served with rice and a side dish, all for 11.99. They make everything into sandwiches for 7.99 if that's more of your route - either way, I don't think you can go wrong with anything you get here. Some of the other folks got the chicken and beef, and everyone was happy with their choice. Everyone on the staff is very friendly and helpful, and this place was packed during the lunch rush (12:30 on a Friday), indicating that folks are starting to get to know about this place. Darnit. But still, come out here and go on a wonderful Middle Eastern culinary retreat! Tip: For the side dish, get the marinated garlic clove. Wow! I've worked in the area for a number of years and tried the Kebab Cafe on a whim. I didn't realize what I was missing... this is an excellent little find and great to get away from the hustle and bustle of other parts of the Gateway shopping center. Atmosphere - Decor was very bright, with a modern look. Had some Middle Eastern touches and fake flowers, but very clean and inviting. This is located near the TJ Maxx further down from the standard other food places, but worth the walk. Waitstaff - This is an order up location, however, due to the slow lunch rush that day, the cashier was friendly and brought my food out to me. Head Cook/Owner came out from the back as well and gave me a sample of their rice bowl, which was absolutely delicious as well. It's the little things they did that make you feel appreciated. Food - Wow, this was the most exciting part of dining there. I ordered the buffalo chicken flatbread sandwich (I know, not a Kebab? but I was in a rush..) The quality of the sandwich was amazing, large, fresh chunks of chicken, paired with fresh lettuce, a tangy homemade buffalo sauce, and a warm flatbread was just perfect. They did a great job serving it with a side dish of pasta. I'm personally not that big a fan of olives, but the pasta had a nice mix where it went well with the meal. Intangibles - Store was close to empty during lunch rush, but that's because so many people give up and wait at the usual stops. Places like the Kebab Cafe are worth the walk when the weather gets warmer, and the quality of the food, is worth waiting a few extra minutes for. Voted Best of the Maine Line 2011 for their non-traditional lunch offerings. Overall - Great little local place to try if you live or work near the Gateway Center. Especially if you're someone who like to try new things and hard to find quality. Absolutely love kabab cafe, which is located in the gateway shopping center next to TJ Maxx. I still haven't tried half of their menu bc I can't stop myself from ordering the same things over and over again... all of their sandwiches are delicious and absolutely packed with meat and veggies. This is definitely not the place to go if you are in a hurry for lunch. My order took about 10-15min. I had chicken and beef kebab platter which was very tender and delicious. The rice and yogurt salad sides were also very good. I would go back there for more Persian food. Food is good but my main concern is the plates they serve. They served us very hot rice and korma in those disposable plates and sadly the plate had impressions of rice and some rice got stuck under the plate which is very scary. Basically the plate got melted as the food was very hot. Please consider the health of your customers. Tried going to a place about 5 miles North for Gyros but was turned off by the preparation at that place. Came down to the Kabab cafe and was so happy I can't put into words. I stopped in quick to grab a dinner to go. Persian food is close to Lebanese food. The place is very clean. The decor fits in with the strip mall. Nice but nothing great. The food was pretty good. We first ate here several years ago when choosing it over another night of pizza. What a life changing choice! We eat here now more regularly than anywhere else in the area. We have made our entire family and several coworkers into regulars. It is especially good when you eat-in, but travels very well and i often pick up in the afternoon so i don't have to cook later. We love it all, but the Doner Platter has recently become a favorite. The joojeh (chicken) is lemony and juicy, koobideh (ground beef) is way better than a hamburger, and we almost never leave without a beef rice bowl (goosht - my 5 five year old's favorite) which has a kind of cinnamon/spice thing going on. For sides we like the shirazi salad, masto kayr (which is similar to tatziki) and our favorite, cauliflower salad. Everything here is cooked with love and the people who own it and work here know us by name now and NEVER forget to say thank you. This is not fine dining, but a great value, not hard for almost anyone to find something they will love, and an excellent alternative if your tired of italian, asian, and chain restaurants. read more

But the real draw on this place is the amazing aroma and taste of the entrees - lamb, chicken or beef kabobs that are served on basmati rice cooked with saffron. Vegetarian options also available. Then wait until you taste the desserts - bakhlava or Persian ice cream, which has rose water, saffron and crushed pistachios. I went here the first day I moved into Wayne, about two and a half years ago. The food was good, but not as good as some kabobs I've had. But I kept going back for some reason. Even though the woman at the cashier treated me like garbage, I kept going back. I've had enough A couple months ago, I went and got my usual, and the mean lady says "Come on Monday, it's our anniversary, so buy 1 meal and get another free" I went in on Monday and got mu usual, and she says "Sorry, that isn't part of the buy 1 get 1 free." Even though it clearly says "All plates buy 1 get 1 free" So I payed full price. I'm a regular customer, and they treat me like that?! The best Kababs i have had in the Philadelphia area! The food is great and so flavorful, along with great service at a decent price. We got two chicken kabab platters with veggies and no rice (although rice is very good too). Came with a side of warm pitas and everything was absolutely yummy. We also love the cauliflower yogurt. The quality of the food is very good and they also have vegetarian options. Their veggie kababs are quite tasty. Also got their Baklava and got three large pieces for $2.99. This place is fantastic. It's the not the fanciest spot but the quality trumps all. I ordered the special Koreshte Goosht rice bowl. That is composed of a beef stew with green peas, potatoes, and spices on a bed of rice. It's one of their more popular dishes and one bite tells you why. It is very flavorful but not spicy at all. My one complaint is that its a bit greasy but that comes with eating mediterranean cuisine. My friends ordered the Gyro Doner Sandwich and Gyro Kabab Doner Platter. Both of them are fantastic and you cannot go wrong. I was pleasantly surprised by the sandwich. Normally sandwiches are dry and lack luster. I loved that the pita was fresh and warm, the meat was moist and tender, and the vegetables were crunchy and ripe (they even added banana peppers!). All of these dishes come with a side salad. The fruit salad I ordered came with mainly cantaloupe and grapes. read more
